What to Expect What is DC Stoddert Travel Soccer? DC Stoddert Soccer s Travel Program is a Developmental Academy-style program that focuses on developing a love for the beautiful game of soccer in young players & nurturing it through high quality training and practices allowing the player to grow and succeed in a safe, fun, and challenging environment. Our teams play in two leagues: Our teams play in the Club Champions League (CCL) and the National Soccer League (NCSL). Games in these leagues are held in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. About half of the season are home games, played either at fields in the District or at the Maryland SoccerPlex. What can you expect? The Travel Program is a 3-season commitment Fall, Winter, Spring with a focus on individual and team development. Wins and losses aren t our benchmark of success, but rather style of play, skill, and foundation moves. All teams are coached by a Professional and Licensed coach. As a soccer community, we hope to get to know one another on and off the field building bonds and friendships that will enrich your life and soccer experience and create a positive atmosphere at games and practices for everyone. All parents are expected to support but NOT coach and help better their children s soccer experience. We strive to make our players better soccer players by giving them the tools and training they need to become technically adept, tactically sound, and ultimately excellent players in a supportive and fun environment. 3
About the Club Mission Statement DC Stoddert Soccer is a non-profit organization offering varying levels of soccer education and competition. Our mission is to provide a positive, fun, and developmentally appropriate soccer experience and to promote a love of soccer for youth in the Washington, DC area. DC Stoddert Soccer promotes sportsmanship, fair play, community building, and volunteerism among its members. Guiding Principles All of our decisions are based on the best interests of our players All of our actions promote respect, sportsmanship, and fair play We build an inclusive and diverse community We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards History DC Stoddert Soccer was founded in 1977 to encourage the playing of soccer among Washington-area youngsters. The club initially consisted of 60 children learning together in small groups at Stoddert Elementary School in the Glover Park neighborhood, from which the club takes its name. Since then, DC Stoddert Soccer has expanded and become the city's largest independent youth sports program. Various soccer enrichment programs are offered for children during the fall and spring seasons, and typically serve upwards of 6,000 players, 9,000 parents, 400 teams, and 900 volunteers. In addition to organized leagues, Stoddert Soccer also offers a variety of clinics for players, referee training and coaching courses. 4
Parent Code of Conduct 1. I will bear in mind that my child(ren) participates in soccer for THEIR enjoyment. 2. I understand that a violation of this code of conduct by me, members of my family or guests that I bring to a DC Stoddert Soccer event can result in disciplinary action against me and my family, up to and including expulsion from DC Stoddert Soccer. I understand that a players seasonal financial commitment must be up-to-date before that player can begin play on a DC Stoddert Soccer team. Additionally, I understand that before a player can transfer to another team, the financial obligations to DC Stoddert Soccer and the players team must be fully satisfied. I hereby acknowledge that I am subject to the foregoing policies and I give approval for my child to participate in any and all events associated with being a member of a DC Stoddert Soccer team. Furthermore, I acknowledge that the contents of this Code of Conduct may be amended by the DC Stoddert Soccer Board of Directors at its discretion at any point during the school year to which my child actively participates in a DC Stoddert Soccer program or activity. 5

I understand that a violation of this code of conduct can result in disciplinary action against me, including suspension of play, removal from a team roster and expulsion from DC Stoddert Soccer. I understand that failure to abide by this code of conduct can result in ejection from the field of play, suspension for one or more games, and other disciplinary action imposed by the DC Stoddert Soccer Board of Directors. 6
Goalkeeping The Season will introduce a Goalkeeping program for players between the ages of U11 and U19. Goalkeepers will have access to experienced Professional Goalkeeping Instructors. Goalkeepers will have a third session in addition to their two team practices every week. During these sessions, the goalkeepers will work on many facets of the game from foundation handling to shot stopping, dealing with aerial balls, being the first point of attack, an outlet to release pressure in possession, and being a part of the team as the last line of defense. They will work on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological conditioning as goalkeepers. 7
