Baseball & Softball Softball Clinic This clinic is designed to help young softball players have fun playing while learning the basic fundamentals of softball. The clinic will offer instruction in fielding, hitting, pitching, and catching while providing players with the tools needed for a successful season. This clinic will be presented by Windsor High School softball coaches, including head coach Aryn Henneke. Start Smart Baseball gives parents and children the opportunity to work one-on-one and spend quality time together, while teaching children effective baseball mechanics to help them successfully participate in organized sports. Skyhawks Skyhawks Camps Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe, and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. Mini-Hawk Multisport Camp This baseball, basketball, and soccer program gives children a fun and positive first step into athletics. Match play will be held on Fridays for all age groups. Matches are played in Windsor, Berthoud, Longmont, and Loveland. Match schedules will be made available during the second week of practices. A statewide tournament concludes the season in late July. Participants must supply their own racquet. Players will learn at their own pace. Basketball Volleyball Boys and Girls Intermediate Basketball Tryouts Coaches and players are needed for the upcoming intermediate basketball season. Teams will play in the 2018 Power-to-Play Sports fall league, and games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays. Practices start in September, with games in October and November, and a tournament in December. Teams are required to have 60 percent of its players reside in Windsor, or in the Weld RE-4 School District boundaries. If there is enough interest to form new teams, or current teams need additional players, players will be called for tryouts on the below dates. Players need to register to be invited to the free tryout. Coaches interested in coaching an intermediate team will need to call for details. Football Flag Football The Windsor Flag Football league s focus is to teach the fundamentals of football in a team setting. To promote equal team competition, players should attend an assessment date. Players will be assessed on basic football skills and athleticism, and will be placed on teams according to skill level and grade. Participants will learn football fundamentals with the exception of tackling or blocking (non-contact league) with an emphasis of equal participation with winning being secondary. Teams play 5 vs. 5 and are scheduled for six games, with an end of season playoff, if scheduling constraints permit. Coaches wanted: This program relies on parent volunteers to coach. It s sad when kids miss out on the action because of a coaching shortage. Please contact us if you are willing to coach. Coaches get to pick their own practice schedule. Call for more information. Location: Practices and games are held in Windsor during weekday evenings. Some age groups may play games in the Fort Collins Flag Football League if less than 30 players are registered for that division. 12 Football Tackle Football Fort Collins League This eight-man tackle football league is organized in conjunction with the Fort Collins Recreation Department. Windsor teams will practice in Windsor, but will travel to Fort Collins for all games. Participants are placed onto teams according to grade. Note: In most cases, Windsor teams will be placed in the heavy weight division for their respective grade. When possible, teams will be separated into light or heavyweight teams if there are enough players to do so. This league has an equal playing time rule. Games last about an hour. All head coaches are certified through USA Football, which includes concussion training. Teams are scheduled for six to eight games. Location: Practices in Windsor, games in Fort Collins Age: Grades 3-6 (as of the current school year) Registration Period: March 26 July 27 or until teams are full. Please note that all Fort Collins league tackle participants must be present at registration for weigh-in. Cost: $120 resident (includes rental of equipment), $130 for non-residents. A player s weight may prohibit them from playing certain positions. This league does not have an equal playing time requirement. The league follows 11-man NFHS rules, with league-specific additions or changes. Teams are scheduled for six to eight games plus end-of-season playoffs. All head and assistant coaches are certified through USA Football, which includes concussion training. Location: Practices in Windsor, games throughout Front Range Area Age: 8-11 (as of 6/1/18) Registration Period: March 26 July 6 or until teams are full Cost: $145 (includes rental of basic equipment). We will also discuss general sporting parental sporting etiquette and expectations. All parents should plan to attend this portion of the meeting, as this is all new and important information. Concussion training starts at 7 p.m. This training educates parents on the signs and symptoms of concussions, while emphasizing the seriousness of head injuries. If you have attended the concussion training, you are not required to attend again. The sport-specific portion of the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., which covers season schedules, rules, and more.
