1 2018 YEAR 5 & 6 Mother Earth futureferns INFORMATION Year 5 & 6 play 6 v 6 which is a fast game providing lots of touches on the ball. The 6 v 6 game is played on a full size court with three positions on each team. Players rotate to prevent early specialization in positions. The emphasis is on all players getting plenty of touches of the ball and the opportunity to develop a broad skill set. For more information on rules and game information for years 5 & 6, please visit the website below: COACH AND UMPIRE MODULE IS A PREREQUISITE A COACH AND AN UMPIRE is required for all Year 5 & 6 teams. If they have not done so already, each coach will be required to attend the Mother Earth futureferns Year 5 & 6 foundation coaching module and each umpire is to complete the Mother Earth futureferns Year 5 & 6 Umpiring Module as a prerequisite to each team playing. Coaches are not permitted to do both. It is beneficial to have more than one coach and umpire per team attend the course in case of sickness or other emergencies. We will be running a number of modules prior to the season beginning and each module will have a maximum number of 15 coaches able to register. This is so we can provide a quality learning experience for all coaches. Please register before the closing date to secure your spot (first in, first served). NO MODULE ATTENDANCE, NO PLAY. 2 2 nd Round: July 26 August 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 Programme and game times: Games will be scheduled to begin at 4.00pm, 4.45pm and 5.30pm on above scheduled dates No Play dates: 12 th and 19 th July 2018 Entry Fee: $380 per team due 10 th May 2018 (Please see Payment Information further down for payment options) Registration closing date: Monday 30 th April (first day of Term 2) TEAM REGISTRATIONS: Close: Monday 30 th April (first day of Term 2) Register online at: under the Competitions & Registrations tab. When registering your team, please see below for the name format. This is so we can differentiate between teams who are also using the same or similar name to others. Team registration name format: School name - Year level Team name Grade level within the school (if graded) Eg. Endeavour Y5 Raiders 1 Endeavour Y5 Ferns 2 Endeavour Y5 Magic 3 This is so we can see that the Endeavour Y5 Raiders team is the highest ranking year 5 team at Endeavour Primary School. DEFAULT PROCESS: If your team needs to default their game please phone the netball centre and/or leave a message on (07) as early as possible. Please note an is not sufficient as office hours are limited. Default fines are outlined in the HCNC By-laws as the following: $25 per default before 1pm prior to the day of play $60 after 1pm prior to the day of play PRIZES!! The first 25 Year 5 teams to register will receive a full set of ANZ futureferns 6 v 6 bibs FREE!! Winning teams will be informed when they register upon arrival on May 17 th 2018 and bibs will be distributed then. Page 2 of 5

3 PLAYER REGISTRATIONS: All teams are required to register their individual players. Please see our Step-by-step guide for more information. All player registrations need to be complete by Friday May 25. We are offering Player Registration workshops after the coaching courses on May 3 and May 10 to offer assistance to coaches who need it. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Each team is to wear a uniform and provide their own bibs (6 v 6 bibs), balls (size 4 ball) and firstaid kit. Equipment is available to purchase from REGULAR SPOT CHECKS ON COACHES & UMPIRES: Spot checks will be made regularly on coaches and umpires to ensure the coach and umpire who attended the courses, are coaching and umpiring their teams for the whole season. This is to provide a consistent experience for teams and their oppositions. If your coach or umpire has another commitment on any given week, please inform the centre so we can support whoever is managing the team for that game day. Also a good reminder for teams to have two coaches complete the course, so the other person can step in. Fees unpaid by the closing dates if no prior arrangement has been made teams will not be permitted to play until arrangements are in place. REFUND POLICY: A full refund will be provided if written notice of withdrawing from a league, tournament, course or activity is received in writing within three days of initial registration. A refund, less 10% of the registration fee, will be provided if notice of withdrawal is received in writing not less than seven days prior to the league, tournament, activity or course commencing. Any notice to withdraw received six days or closer to the commencement day will only be refunded under exceptional circumstances and is entirely at the discretion of the Centre Manager. 4 In conjunction with our Code of Conduct (more information below), we are implementing a strategy involving teams that will help decrease the amount of incompliances and breaches of the Code that lead to disciplinary action. When teams register their attendance at each game day, coaches will be given a vest. This vest will be given to a representative of the team, who will act as the warden to ensure spectators are adhering to the Code and sportsmanship. All vests to be returned after games. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Upon registration, each team will be required to sign the below Code of Conduct before the Programme begins. NO CODE, NO PLAY. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR BEHAVIOUR AT THE TWHCNC The following code is not set to provide a detailed description of behaviour expectations, but rather the broad principles of acceptable behaviour in netball at the Trust Waikato Hamilton City Netball Centre. Incompliance and breaches of this code may lead to disciplinary action (including trespass notices issued and player suspension) by: the offending team or individuals school or TWHCNC under its complaint and judiciary procedure. Player Code of Behaviour Play with honesty and integrity. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants, regardless of their ability, cultural background or religion. Play with a healthy determination; hard but fair. Play to strive for excellence and to the rules of the game. Be committed to your team. Attend all practices and games. Refrain from arguing with the officials. Control your temper at all times. Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Portray good sportsmanship. Applaud all good play whether by your team or your opponent. Remember the goals of the game are to have fun, participate, improve your skills and to win fairly. 5 Coach Code of Behaviour Positively reinforce the actions of players Lead by example. Be honest with yourself, your management and with players. Create an enjoyable environment in which to play the game. Develop and grow a team respect for officials. Give all players the opportunity to participate in the game. Insist on fair play and discipline. Be reasonable on the demand of the players time, energy and enthusiasm. Encourage positive sportsmanship. Spectator/Parent/Supporters Code of Behaviour Applaud the performance of both teams. Be positive with the officials and coaches. Acknowledge the officials and their efforts. Show appreciation to the coaches and officials. Let the players play their own game, not yours. Praise efforts not results. Be a positive role model for the players; display self-control on the side-line. Remember young people play netball for their own satisfaction, not yours. Officials Code of Behaviour Control the game in a fair and positive manner. Be consistent and objective in your rulings. Modify your approach to suit the level of skill each player possesses. Help players learn the rules by explaining decisions where appropriate. Do what you can to ensure everyone enjoys the game. Encourage fair play and do not tolerate foul play of any kind.
