5 A message from the Coach Aaron Collins Having committed to rebuilding the club over the next three years, I am really looking forward to the upcoming 2017 season. Since signing on in the middle of 2016, I have set about the task of rebuilding this great football club. The rebuilding of the club after a year out is going extremely well with a number of senior players returning to Crispe Park, along many new players committed to be a part of the Reservoir family for Many are signing multi-year contracts demonstrating their commitment for not only 2017, but beyond. I have the support of an outstanding and committed coaching panel and not to mention a strong and positive committee who have a focus on helping drive our young list and the club as a whole forward to be a strong and respected club on and off the field. 6 History of Reservoir Football Club Reservoir Football Club first participated in local Melbourne football in The Club played in the Bourke and Evelyn Football League for a few seasons, the last recorded as From 1946 Reservoir s history is more clearly traceable. The club played in the Diamond Valley Football League (DVFL), winning the Premiership in 1946 and 47. Don Atkinson was captain-coach of the 1947 team; he would later serve as mayor of the City of Preston. Atkinson was also at the helm in 1948 when the Club were runners-up. Reservoir wore brown jumpers with a gold vee up until 1949 when they switched to a red and white jumper, similar to that of Preston Football Club. This was a demonstration of the close alliance the two clubs would form, as Reservoir became a feeder club for Preston. That year also marked a switch to the Metropolitan Football League (MFL). In the early 1950s Reservoir used J.E. Moore Park near Edwardes Lake Park as a home ground. The Club sought permission from the Preston City Council to erect a shelter for their players but were denied. Soon after this denial, the Club would again approach the council, this time seeking leave to play at nearby Crispe Park. In March of 1952 the Council resolved to discontinue the playing of football and cricket at Edwardes Lake Park. The sporting facilities at the Park have been primarily for Athletics since this time. Meanwhile, Reservoir have played at Crispe Park ever since. The first timber clubrooms were just inside the main entrance to the ground where the current toilet block is situated. The present clubrooms, which have been extended a number of times, were named The Fred Birchall Pavilion. Fred was a local builder who served on the Reservoir Football Club committee for many years. In 1959, Reservoir captured their only 1 st XVII Premiership in the MFL. Alan Chandler, who coached the side as well as being runner up in the Best and Fairest award, led the club in this success. The Chandler family have been great servants of the Reservoir Football Club. Bob, Alan, Frank and Ken Chandler played for and served the Club in a variety of administrative roles including president, coach, secretary and treasurer. Bob, Alan and Ken are life members of the Club. Reservoir switched to the Panton Hill Football League (PHFL) in 1971, after 22 seasons in the MFL. This move was an immediate success as Reservoir finished runners-up in their debut season then captured premierships for both 1 st & 2 nd XVIII competitions in This feat was matched in 1975 and the 1 st XVIII made it back-to-back premierships in The Club spent 10 seasons in the PHFL, all of which ended in finals appearances. In 1981, Reservoir returned to the DVFL after 31 years, in which time the DVFL had become arguably the strongest of all Melbourne s suburban football leagues. In 1982, Reservoir amalgamated with the Reservoir Y.C.W. Football Club. It was during the 1980s that the Club changed its jumper to design featuring vertical stripes of royal blue and light blue, which the Club still wears today. The 1984 season was a special one for the Reservoir Football Club. The 1 st XVIII won the premiership in the DVFL Division-2 after a 10-point win over Northcote Park. This saw the Club promoted to Division-1 for the first time. That alone was a great achievement, but Reservoir s 2 nd and 3 rd XVIII, as well as the Under 11 junior team also won premierships in 84 to cap a spectacular season. Unfortunately the senior side lasted only one season in Division-1 as they were relegated after finishing last in They have not managed promotion since, losing out in three Division-2 grand finals (1993, 1994 & 2004) saw the club forced to withdraw its 1 st & 2 nd XVIII from the new Northern Football League (NFL) (renaming of the DVFL) due to a chronic lack of players. The club fielded an Under 19 team during this period saw the 1 st & 2 nd XVIII come out of recess and re-join the Under 19s playing in Division-2 of the NFL. In 2009 at the end of round 13 the NFL did a redraw placing the bottom 6 sides in Division-2 into a new Division-3 with the top 8 sides remaining in Division-2. Unfortunately, Reservoir was placed in Division-3, where the 1 st XVIII were defeated in the Preliminary Final. Between 2009 and 2013, the club fielded 1 st & 2 nd XVIII in Division-3 and Under 19 s in Division-2 of the NFL, with the 1 st XVIII playing in 3 Preliminary Finals and 1 Semi-Final during this period. The club had a strong 2014 with both the 1 st & 2 nd XVIII making their respective Grand Finals, with the 2 nd XVIII winning the Division 3 Reserves Premiership. However, the club had to wait until 2015 for its first Senior Premiership in more than 30 years. The team finished 2 nd at the end of the regular season and beat minor premiers South Morang in the semi-final. 13 Goods & Service Tax The following is and extract from the Australian Taxation Office (source: With the below in mind, all Community Partnership options contain within this prospectus provide an advertising component and are therefore subject to GST. Gifts Non-profit organisations are not required to pay GST on gifts they receive and the value of gifts is not included when they determine their GST turnover. For a payment (monetary or nonmonetary) to be considered a gift, it must be made voluntarily, and the giver cannot receive a material benefit in return. A material benefit is something of value, such as a ticket to a dinner or a functional item such as a pen or book. Sponsorship Sponsorship payments are not gifts. This is because your organisation would normally provide a sponsorship benefit for the payment for example, advertising. Under a sponsorship arrangement, you may receive monetary support for a fundraising activity, and in return you provide advertising, signage, naming rights or other benefits to your sponsor. If you are registered for GST, you must pay GST on any sponsorship you receive.
