2 Dear Friends: I want to again personally invite everyone to our Bull & Female Sale and Appreciation Day at the farm on Saturday February 13, A lunch will be served starting at 11:30 with the sale to follow at 1:00. Again this year, instead of the cattle going thru a sale ring, a video of each lot will be shown with the cattle being penned close to the sale area for your inspection. You may view the cattle that morning or are welcome to come take a look at any time before the sale. We like having the sale on the farm because we think that it is less stressful on the cattle and that it is a homier environment for the sale. This year we are selling some heifer calves and five bred heifers. The bred heifers are from our keeping pen and were selected solely on their projected calving date. The heifer calves are also from the keeping pen. They are some really nice heifers included, but we can t keep them all. After having inquiries about selling some heifers, we thought that the only fair way for everyone was to include them on the auction. It has been quite a year with the volatile weather and markets. Although the abundance of rain made it difficult to make hay, the crops in this area thrived with record yields which we are very thankful for. The record cattle prices from a year ago spoiled us all, but we must remember that the current cattle prices are still the second highest that we have ever gotten. Even if you don t need a bull this year, please join us on the 13 th. It is our way of showing our appreciation to you for your past and future purchases. If we can assist you in any way, please let us know. This is truly a family operation with our children and grandchildren owning some of the cattle and everyone gets to enjoy the experience of a little mud on their boots. For cattlemen looking to add extra power and performance to their herd bull battery, this offering of bulls will feature some of the stoutest bulls to be found this spring. In addition to the bulls selling, there will also be a special group of yearling replacement females selling backed by the same proven genetics as the bulls. The Angus bull offering will feature sons of Ellingson Scotsmen 0010,, Ellingson Ribeye 3195, Koupals Advance 28, SAV Resource 1441,, Connealy Earnan 076E and there will also be an excellent set of Final Answer grandsons included - Superior performance traits that offer high growth without sacrificing calving ease traits. In all, there will be 30 Angus bulls that are stout and powerful being offered. In addition to the Angus bull offering, there will be a select group of 10 Charolais bulls selling that are superb in their quality and backed by the proven AI sires, LT Blue Value 7903, and LT Ledger If you are looking for a set of bulls that combine proven performance genetics with a phenotype that expresses true muscle dimension and power, then I would invite you to study this set of bulls as I believe the quality to be the best ever offered from the Carstens program. A special highlight this year will be the opportunity to select from 15 yearling and 5 bred replacement females that will be a welcome addition to any progressive program. These heifers are sired by the same proven performance sires as the bulls listed above and are the right kind to make top replacements. The breeding program at Carstens Angus has always been based on sound, functional, maternal power that does not sacrifice performance so I feel confident that these females will work in any environment and in any progressive program. The sale will be held at their farm for the second year in a row and will be conducted by video, the same as last year. All of the bulls will be on display around the barn prior to the sale beginning and the video footage will show on a large screen while the auction is being conducted.
