1 Spring Term Issue 2 Change we are often told that change is good or that change is bad. Some change is enforced and some elective. Some people like change, others prefer the status quo. It is said that children don t mind change, They are young, they can cope with it. However, I am not so sure, especially children of junior school age; stability is crucial for them to understand the world around them. Personally, I do not see change in any other way than an obstacle to overcome or a positive change in direction; change is change. However, I do feel that change management is absolutely crucial in ensuring that the transition to what we knew to the what we don t know (the before and after) has the most positive impact on those it affects. When I started at Fulneck we embarked on a period of change, and not just with my introduction; we audited thoroughly our working practice, assessing everything that we brought to the children: schemes of work for teaching, assessment, tracking, early identification and possible interventions. In short, change can happen without you even knowing it. It is now the time we can allow all our new systems and processes to bed in and like any organic thing, we will nurture it until it grows and ripens. I am looking forward to the Harvest! 6 Many supporters complete all sorts of challenges and events in aid of charity, but sometimes they choose to organise a sponsored haircut. This raises lots of money! Indie Ward having heard about a young girl who was suffering from cancer decided to take the step to use her beautiful hair to form part of a wig for children who suffer hair loss as part of their cancer treatment. I have offered my services but I am still waiting for their return call! Well done to Indie, what a fabulous thing to do for other children who need our support at such a very difficult time in their lives...

9 On the 19th of January 2018 Fulneck school played against Bronte House in a netball match. It was very tough and we tried our best despite a few setbacks. In the first quarter we were excited to see what they could do and they took us by quite a surprise. We started the match pretty strong with me (the captain) picking the first centre, which meant that they picked the side that they would shoot. We started with some excellent defending with Ore obstructing every chance she got. With the ball in our hands we got quite a good chance of getting the ball and passing it down the pitch. But they were equally as good as we were and they managed to score twice without fail. With us getting the ball to Lily she shot accurately and scored. They kept getting the ball in open play so they scored again and again.. The end score of the first quarter was 3-5 to Bronte. The second quarter was just as close as the first and we knew that we just had to score a few more goals and we would be tied. Sally came on as Goal Shooter which was very helpful with her excellent shots. They were very good at getting the ball but when they did Bella was there ready to get it back.. She did not catch all the passes but she made a real effort to do so, unfortunately they scored more than double our score with the end result The third quarter was really tough and we were really tired, trying to keep up with them. We knew we had to really pick up our pace, we had a lot of help from the parents who supported us lots and motivated us to keep going throughout the game. We got back on the court ready to bounce back. With Aimee there, it was a lot of help knowing that whenever you need someone you always have her and with her excellent dodging we managed to score another goal with Kaynat s fantastic shooting. But Bronte were exceptionally good at defending and shooting and they ended up scoring many more times, so with basket after basket the end of the third quarter saw them lead In the final quarter we didn t lose any hope with a great pep talk from Miss Ratnik and a special appearance from Mr Bouckley which made us even more determined than we ve ever been before and that made us try very hard. I tried my best to get the ball down and I think it paid off; with the ball down to me I could pass to Kimberley who had a very good skill of getting into space. With Leigh-Taylor s amazing ball handling skills we never saw a ball drop from her hands. Unfortunately, we only managed to score one more goal but bronte scored the same amount leaving the final score Overall we had a fantastic time and we all owe many thanks to Miss Ratnik and any other staff for organising the fixture and umpiring. Also many thanks to Bronte House for being very good teammates and for their input from the umpiring. Bronte chose Kaynat as the player of the match for Fulneck because of her excellent shooting. Fulneck voted Bronte s s goal attack, who we later found out who s name was Meya. Fulneck s girls showed great sportsmanship by handing out drinks and biscuits as refreshments and we found out some of the things about the Bronte girls and they were very friendly, I hope they had a lovely time. Finally I want to say a big thanks to all the girls who took part from both sides. Jessica Hill-Samuel (Sports Captain) with a lot of annoyance from Kaynat Qaisar!!
