1 Newsletter 2018 January 2018 Registration 2018 Online registration Monday 1 st January Friday 9 th February Welcome to the 2018 Netball Season Wakehurst Netball Club is a friendly, locally based club focused on learning, enjoyment and having fun in a team environment. We currently have teams in Net Set Go (8-9 years), Juniors (10-17 years) and Seniors in the Manly Warringah Netball Association Winter Competition. We recently received some new courts form the State Government which will make a great addition to our training facilities for the upcoming year Info/Photo/Uniform Day Belrose Rugby League Club Blackbutts Rd, Frenchs Forest 11 3 Saturday 3 rd February Registration Fees for 2018 This year the club is committed to keeping fees as low as possible for our members. Our Net Set Go (funnet) program is being increased from 6 weeks to 8 weeks due to enthusiasm of participants and eligibility for the Active Kids Program. As such the prices are: Competition Year Born Fee Net Set Go (5 to 7 years) 2011 and 2012 $100 Net Set Go (8 and 9 years) 2009 and 2010 $165 Junior (10-17 yrs) $180 Senior 2000 and earlier $185 Online Registration Registration will again be via the online MyNetball system. An Info/Photo/Uniform Day will be held on Saturday, 3 rd February from 11:00am until 3:00pm at the Belrose Rugby League Club, Blackbutts Rd Frenchs Forest. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the 2018 season, purchase uniforms and accessories and have your photo taken for your ID card. All registration enquiries should be directly to the Club Registrar, Karen Hayes on or registrar@wakehurstnetball.com.au Active Kids Voucher At this stage with the Active Kids Vouchers, unfortunately they will not be eligible to be used for the regular Winter season due to time constraints and the start date of the program. We are looking forward to using them however for the Net Set Go (funnet) program later in the year and the voucher will cover the entire cost of the program. Page 1

2 Player photos and birth certificates MWNA introduced pre-printed player ID cards for the 2017 season. All new players aged 11 and older as well as all 10 year players will need a new photo. After registering online, please your photo to photos@wakehurstnetball.com.au. The photo must have a white or light coloured background and be of your neck and face, looking directly at the camera. Don t zoom in too close because the photos will be cropped square. No hats please. If possible, the file name should be your MyNetball ID number used for your registration and the subject of the should be your name. Grading for 2018 Players are required to attend all grading. Any player unable to attend a grading session for any reason must contact Coaching Convenor, Jenny Domjen on or coaching@wakehurstnetball.com.au to make alternative arrangements. However, if they do not attend grading they are not automatically guaranteed a position in their last season s team. Please refer to the Wakehurst Club Grading Policy on our website. Grading for the 2018 season will take place on: Sunday 11 th February 12:45 pm to 3:30pm at NBISC 14 Jacksons Rd, Warriewood. Additional grading for U10s & U11s will be from 4:00pm on Tuesday, 13th February Venue: Lionel Watts Oval. A reminder of call back will be via the website and Facebook on Sunday 11th Feb. Additional grading for U12s U15s (if required) will be held Thursday 15th February from 4pm and U17s will be from 6:30pm. Notice of call back will be sent via the website and Facebook on Wednesday 14th February. Team Announcements Net Set Go Net Set Go announcement will be completed by on Thursday 22 nd February. For any teams who do not have a coach/manager one parent will need to attend. Please see details below regarding the MWNA Coaching Orientation Course, if you have no previous coaching experience. We also have many knowledgeable coaches in our club who are happy to assist you. 3 Coaching Courses WAKEHURST netball club Wakehurst We are currently investigating different avenues for coaching in the new year, so please continue to check Facebook and the website for details. MWNA MWNA have organised 2 coaching courses for the beginning of the season; MWNA coaches orientation 3 rd March 9am 11am. If you are interested in this course please our Coaching Convenor Jenny Domjen coaching@wakehurstnetball.com.au. This course cones highly recommended by MW NA. Coaches Development Course 25 th March 9am 2pm. This course has a minimum age of 15 and you must have completed the Netball Australia online Foundation course. Training Days Once teams have been announced the coach or manager will be in contact to arrange a suitable training day for all players. Regular attendance at training is important and expected by the Club and is a commitment to your team. Umpiring commitment for 2018 Umpiring at MWNA is compulsory for all players in the U12 division and above. For Wakehurst umpires this means: Completing all team umpiring allocations. Arriving 20 minutes prior to the game with a hair tie and whistle to check in. If the team makes finals, having 2 members available to umpire. If these do not happen the following things will occur: The team will have two (2) additional umpiring duties (penalties) that must be completed within three (3) games. If penalties are not completed there is a $50 fine and the loss of two (2) competition points to the team. 4 Uniforms Uniforms will be available to purchase on Saturday, 3 rd February from 11:00am until 3:00pm.
