1 PE and Sports at St Andrew s

2 What a Year! This year, you have all had 2 hours of PE every week. In addition, you have had active playtimes, with loads of different play equipment, new playground markings, use of the adventure playground and a daily mile. There have been lunchtime sports clubs, afterschool sports clubs, charity events, interhouse events and interschool events. Let s look back over the year at your achievements- there have been quite a few!

3 EYFS Our youngest children are ALWAYS active and have been brilliant in their PE lessons and have done gymnastics, team games, athletics, dance and multi-skills. They all competed in their own Sports Day last week. They took part in the Sport Relief Mile, running round the Recreation Ground at least 4 times!

4 Year 1 As well as being completely wonderful in all your PE lessons, having done gymnastics, dance, striking and fielding games, multiskills and being SO enthusiastic in all your PE and sport you have also Taken part in a virtual multi-skills competition in the Birchwood Partnership Attended Sporty Kids at lunchtime Been part of the Disney Dance workshop at Birchwood school. Ran in the Sport Relief Mile! Enjoyed a wonderful Sports Day!

5 Year 2 This year in PE lessons, the children in Year 2 have played badminton, golf, tennis, football, gymnastics and dance. They are always on the move and have worked really hard to improve all their skills. They have also Had gymnastic coaching with Mrs Peart and almost taken part in a gymnastic competition (if it hadn t been for the snow!) Took part in Sporty Kids Ran the Sport Relief Mile Entered the virtual multi-skills competition for Birchwood Partnership Enjoyed a wonderful Sports day

6 Year 3 During PE lessons this year, you have done gymnastics, football, cricket, rugby netball, tennis and swimming. You have had football coaching from Mr Hart, Taken part in the Birchwood 6 aside football competition, All represented our school at the Birchwood Games Taken part in the Birchwood Partnership gymnastics competition Ran the Sport Relief Mile Took part in the Interhouse Spring Sports Challenge Sports Day Been AMAZING at swimming with almost ¾ of you achieving your 25m!

7 Year 4 Year 4 have worked hard in their lessons doing different activities including gymnastics, cricket, rugby, tennis, football, netball and hockey. They have also had great success competing at our Partnership competitions. Birchwood Tri Golf competition Gymnastic coaching from Mrs Peart and participating in Birchwood competition Everyone represented the school in the Tag Rugby Festival Participated in the girls Kwik cricket competition Came 3 rd in Birchwood Mini Tennis Were BRILLIANT at speed stacking finishing 2 nd in the Partnership. Ran the Sport Relief Mile Sports Day

8 Year 5 PE lessons included, football, hockey, gymnastics, tennis, basketball, cricket, rugby. Everyone in the class is always keen to take part and always wanting to improve and do their best. So many took part in the Birchwood competition including: QuickSticks hockey, Sportshall athletics, Basketball, Spring League Netball, Hi 5 Netball at Birchwood and Leventhorpe. Winners at Leventhorpe Football Winners at Leventhorpe Tag Rugby Festival Winners and Runners Up at Birchwood American football Interhouse Spring Sports Challenge Ran the Sport Relief Mile Sports Day Superb ambassadors for PE and Sport as part of our Sports Crew.

9 Year 6 This year group, always keen to have a match and show off their ever improving PE and sports skills. They embody the School Games values of passion, teamwork, honesty, respect, self belief and determination. Lesson units have been Zumba, rugby, gymnastics, hockey, football, basketball, dance, athletics, squash and rounders. In addition they have had squash coaching from Mr Osborne and teaching from Miss Whittaker at Leventhorpe Particpated in Leventhorpe Dance Workshop Birchwood Partnership competitions include: Sportshall athletics, Basketball, Spring League Netball, Hi 5 Netball at Birchwood and Leventhorpe, Summer League football Winners at Leventhorpe Football Winners at Leventhorpe Tag Rugby Festival Winners and Runners Up at Birchwood American football Interhouse Spring Sports Challenge Ran the Sport Relief Mile Sports Day Cycling Proficiency Brenscombe!

11 Sports Crew These children in Year 5 have been brilliant ambassadors for Sport and PE in our school. Not only have they run a lunchtime sports club for children in KS1, they have also helped to run Sports Days and the Sport Relief Mile. Thank you for always being reliable, enthusiastic and motivating.

12 Running Club This year 113 children have come along to Running Club in the mornings. In total children from Nursery to Year 6 have run an amazing 3268 miles (that s an amazing marathons!) Congratulations to all of you that came along. Now that we have our new Sports Track, that total is bound to be smashed next year!

13 Thank you Thank you to all parents that have helped transport children to matches and competitions, we could not have taken part without them. Thank you to those parents who have given up their time to coach children at after school clubs, Mrs Ricketts, Mr Hutt and Mr Lyons, your help and expertise has been invaluable. Thank you to Mrs Vittori and the Friends for all their fundraising efforts this year that has helped improve our facilities. We now have new playground markings and a fantastic Sports Track Thank you to all our staff and Governors for supporting PE throughout the school. Most of all, thank you children for always giving your best, always representing your school in a sporting way, and always making it fun!
