5 Our mission Representativeness and participation on decision-making processes: Actual CFP Reform Real engagement on sustainability: initiatives to protect and recuperate the fish stocks and marine environment, co-management management plans, creation of MPA, etc. Fair commercialization, more committed with the sea Social recognition, and recognition of our traditional knowledge Raising awareness and cooperation (with other fishermen, scientific community, population, etc.)

10 Birth of the Project Our ideas on how to react met with the spirit of EC1967/2006 and we decided to act and make use of articles: 4, protected habitats 5, establishment of fishing protected areas and 7, national fishing protected areas

12 Why here? in the middle of the Aegean Sea islands work as natural reefs no local trawlers in northern Cyclades, only one local purse seine socially wanted and accepted presence of many protected habitats Island Gyaros main reproduction area of monk seal in Mediterranean Sea
