1 2017 Minnesota Bass Tour Rules About These Rules and Liability Waiver: It is the responsibility of each contestant to read and understand the rules set forth in this document. Minnesota and the Minnesota Bass Tour tournament directors assume no risk and is not liable for any actions or accidents that may occur before, during, or after any tournament event. I. The Minnesota Bass Tour Tournament Experience Camaraderie and Competition In the spirit of sportsmanship, knowledge sharing, and improvement of our bass fishing skills, anglers with varying level of fishing experience now can compete in a highly organized and fun team format for a modest entry fee. Education and Knowledge Sharing After each tournament, every team has the opportunity to share what they did to catch fish. Fun Payouts! The Minnesota Bass Tour has a unique payout structure that rewards successful days on the water. II Tour Directors Jim Krocak Admin, Results, Communications Jeremie Larson Finances, Weigh-ins Jesse Larson Social Media Dan Krocak Rulings Lucas Matzke - Sponsorships III. Sportsmanship and Laws A. Sportsmanship: All anglers are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation. Failure to exhibit this behavior and the tournament rules set in this document will result in disqualification with no refunds. B. Valid License: All anglers must have a valid Minnesota fishing license. C. Breaking Laws: Local lake laws (e.g. no-wake zones) and state fishing laws are to be followed at all time. Breaking of state or local fish and boating laws will be grounds for immediate disqualification with no refunds; this includes unsportsmanlike conduct. D. Cheating: Anyone caught cheating in any tournament event will be immediately barred from fishing in any future Minnesota Bass Tour events. E. Drugs/Alcohol: Drunkenness shall be cause for immediate disqualification; no alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs shall be allowed in the boats before and during the tournament hours. F. Fishing Proximity: Teams may not fish closer than 50 yards to another competitor unless permission is given to another team to fish the same area. Also, if one boat is given permission, all must be allowed the same courtesy on a spot. G. Non-contestants: Having a non-contestant sit on a hole for you shall be cause for disqualification.
2 IV. Tournament Boats A. Livewells and Aerators: Tournament intent is to release and keep all fish alive, therefore all boats are required to have some type of working aerator for keeping bass alive. B. Livewell Malfunctioning or Limitation: For any boats identified with livewells that pose a risk to fish mortality, it will be permitted to request another boat to bring in additional fish as necessary if agreed upon by that boat. 1. In order to fill out the field, boats with smaller livewells are allowed to participate. 2. A penalty of ½ pound will apply to a team s daily catch involving a dead fish, even if it is due to the use of another boat s livewell (refer to page 3, Section VII,H - Tournament Rules, Dead Fish). V. Tournament Field and Teams A. Tournament Field: Our tournament field is limited to 14 boats. B. Team Members: 2 anglers per team with all teams declaring a partner to begin their season. 1. Fishing Solo: A participant may fish solo in as many tournaments as becomes necessary and retain all points. 2. Substitutes: Substitutes are allowed as long as one team member from the original roster is participating in the tournament; substitutes must be approved by tournament directors. C. Blast-offs: Determined by each team choosing a numbered ping-pong ball at the completion of each tournament for the next event. Drawing of order is determined by the team that finishes last and follows the order to the team that finished first for that day. D. Additional Boats: Prior to the 3 rd tournament, additional boats can be added however need to pay for entire year, including any tournament that was missed and the TOC. No additional teams will be added to the field after the 2nd tournament of the year. VI. Emergencies and Tournament Cancellation A. Leaving one s boat: Tournament participants may not leave their boats during tournament hours except for emergencies, sickness, severe weather, or bathroom needs. B. Leaving Tournament Waters Early: If for any reason a team decides to leave the tournament waters early, competitors must try to contact the MBT Directors either by phone or text. It will be at the MBT Directors discretion for awarding that team s daily points. 1. Failure to Weigh-in for non-emergency reasons will result in automatically being last in blastoff position for the following tournament. C. Event Cancellation: At any time before or during the tournament, the MBT Directors can decide to cancel the tournament due to severe weather conditions, contacting participants by phone and text Minnesota Bass Tour Page 2 of 6
3 VII. Tournament Rules A. Off-limits: Tournament lakes are considered off-limits from sundown the day before the tournament until the tournament start time. B. Nets: Use of nets is allowed for landing bass. C. Baits: Anglers may only use artificial baits, no live bait or 'dead baiting' with the exception of composite baits (i.e. pork, powerbaits, etc). RULE HIGHLIGHTS Fish Limit: 5 bass/team Minimum Length: 12 Dead bass penalty: ½ lb Late Penalty: 2 lbs D. Lifejackets: Lifejackets are required in boats per state laws and must be on when the boat is above idle speed (greater than 10mph). E. Fish Limit: 5 bass limit per team, all culling must be done on the water not at the ramp. 1. Anyone bringing in more than 5 bass will have their sack culled to the 5 bass limit starting with the heaviest fish first. F. Minimum Bass Length: A 12 minimum length for bass unless the legal size determined by state law for that body of water is different; each boat is required to have ruler to measure bass. G. Short Fish: Bass less than 12 (or less than the minimum length for that body of water) brought to the weigh-in will be culled from your sack and your largest fish will also be culled from the remaining fish. H. Dead Fish: A penalty of ½ pound per dead fish will be assessed to the overall daily team weight, even if the death of the fish is caused by another person s livewell (refer to page 1, Section IV, B, 2 Tournament Boats, Livewell Malfunctioning or Limitation). I. Mangled Fish: Decision to weigh bass that appear altered or mangled shall be made at the discretion of the MBT Directors. J. Late Penalty: Unless a team has notified the MBT Directors of issues related to boat, motor or other urgency, a boat not getting back to the access at the official tournament end time will be assessed a 2lb penalty and 2lbs for every 3 minutes later. After 15 minutes your team s weight will be nullified for that tournament and your team will receive no points for the day. K. Winning Team: The winning team will be determined by total bag weight. L. Tie Breakers: Tie for Individual Tournament Weights and Points 1) Total bass then, 2) Heaviest fish then, 3) Coin flip. Tie for End of Year Points for MBT Champions 1) Total bass then, 2) Total weight then, 3) Big bass then, 4) Coin flip. Tie for Big Bass 1) The Heavier total bag weight for the day, then 2) Coin flip. M. All rules and regulations of the Minnesota Bass Tour are subject to review by the MBT Directors Minnesota Bass Tour Page 3 of 6
4 VIII. Tournaments Entry Fees To participate in the Minnesota Bass Tour, all teams are required to pay the tour membership fee at the beginning of season. A. $290 Annual Tournament Entry, per team, due by March 1 st 1. 5 Regular Season Tournaments and Tournament of Champions: $ Team of the Year: $15 ($10 for team champion award, $5 for team champion trophy) a) To participate in the Minnesota Bass Tour, all teams are required to pay the tour membership fee at the beginning of season. 3. Membership Fee: $35 (Website, trophy, weigh bags, scoring and reporting) B. Optional Big Bass Pot: $70 (for each tournament and each day of TOC, 100% payout) IX. Tournament Points and Team Champion Awards A. Teams accumulate points for each regular season tournament and each day of the TOC depending on the place they finish. See chart to the right for awarding individual tournament points. 1. If more than one team weighs zero bass for a tournament, those teams each receive the same lowest points at that position. (For example, if there are 14 boats, with two teams not weighing any bass. Those two teams would each be in 13 th place and therefore receive 2 points as shown in the chart to the right). 2. If there is a tie for weight in an individual tournament, tie breaker rules will be used to assign points and award payouts. 3. If there is a tie for points for MBT Champions, the champions will be decided by overall 1) Total bass, 2) Total weight, 3) Big bass, 4) Coin flip. 4. The team with the most points after the completion of the 7 tournament days are MBT Team Champions who will: TEAM POINTS PER TOURNAMENT Place Points 1 st 14 2 nd 13 3 rd 12 4 th 11 5 th 10 6 th 9 7 th 8 8 th 7 9 th 6 10 th 5 11 th 4 12 th 3 13 th 2 14 th 1 1) Receive the team cash award (depends on the paid tourney field at the beginning of the year), 2) Their team name on the MBT trophy Minnesota Bass Tour Page 4 of 6
5 X Tournament Payouts A. Regular Season Tournaments B. Tournament of Champions 100% Payout XI. Tournament Rulings Committee A. Any questions or rulings that are brought up during the weigh in will be jointly decided by the MBT Directors. If a ruling is requested about the actions of one of the directors, that director will not be made part of the ruling; the person requesting the ruling will be the third judge Minnesota Bass Tour Page 5 of 6
6 XII. Communication, Standings, and Member Notifications A. Preseason Meetings: Prior year members get together in January to discuss rules, lakes and any changes for the season. If new members are added, we will have a kickoff to introduce them and review the 2017 rules. B. Website: Part of member fees go towards web hosting and administration which is used to post news, blast-offs and tournament results in a timely manner. Results will be posted within 7 days of a tournament completion. C. Urgent Messages: Any urgent tournament changes (i.e. cancellations, location updates) will be communicated via and phone by the MBT Directors. D. Tournament End Times: Besides having the lake, access location, and time of tournament available on the web, the directors will also confirm tournament end times on the day of the tourney, typically at blast-off. However, it is each team s responsibility to know the end time for that day s tournament. Refer to Page 3, Section VII, J Late Penalty for ramifications of not getting back to the access at the stated tournament end time. XIII. Individual Eligibility, Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk A. Minnesota Bass Tour Entry is Due March 1st: Teams are required to have their full year entry fee provided to Jeremie Larson by March 1 st. After that time, MBT Directors will broadcast the openings and take additional applicants considerations on a first come, first serve basis. B. Rules: It is the responsibility of each contestant to read and understand the rules set forth in this document. C. Signed Release: Each participant is required to sign the Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement prior to fishing in the first tournament. No exceptions. D. Liability: Note that the Minnesota Bass Tour tournament directors assume no risk and is not liable for any actions or accidents that may occur before, during, or after any tournament event.
