Everything a Lake Should Be

It's not what we do that sets us apart. It's how and why we do it so well.

RESPONSIBLE LAKE MANAGEMENT Since 1977, Aquatic Systems has been solving difficult waterway management problems for Florida, community associations, golf courses, condominiums, C.D.D.'s, commercial projects, and government agencies. Our waterway management plans focus on systemic and sustainable solutions, not just treating the symptoms. Our Goals Pioneer new natural methods of aquatic weed and algae control Eliminate or reduce the use of herbicides and algaecides whenever possible Establish the healthiest possible aquatic ecosystems Utilize the most environmentally sound practices possible Maintain aesthetically pleasing waterways for our clients Meet or exceed all government standards and regulations Ensure our workforce is highly trained and certified in aquatic management Strive to educate our customers about current best management practices Continuously test our methods to ensure optimum results

ALGAE & AQUATIC WEED CONTROL The climate in Florida is wonderful in many ways, but it allows exotic plants and algae to take over. Our waterway management programs seek to reduce herbicide use wherever possible and instead rely on natural control methods. To that end, our recent Earth Friendly methods include: Using Micro-Lyfe beneficial bacteria to naturally improve water quality. Installing Vertex aeration to increase oxygen which naturally reduces algae, gases, and nutrient levels to improve water quality. Perpetual grass carp stocking program to naturally control Hydrilla and other submersed aquatic weeds without use of herbicides. New programs that use 80% less copper sulfate to control algae. Lake shading applications to reduce weed and algae growth by blocking sunlight to bottom growing surfaces. Vertex ultrasonic transmitters to control algae by cell disruption without the use of algaecides.

WETLAND & UPLAND MITIGATION An amazing array of animals including amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals require habitat beyond just the lake. Aquatic Systems manages the wetland and upland areas in your community set aside for these natural habitats as well as the lakes. Services include: Corrections needed for existing compliance violations Design, creation and restoration of natural wetland, littoral shelves and upland areas utilizing native plants Removal and control of nonnative exotic plants Management and restoration plan creation Mitigation management Government reporting to ensure your property is in compliance with all federal, state and local requirements Our state certified and licensed natural areas field technicians follow current Best Management Practices for all areas under their care.

MIDGE FLY CONTROL Aquatic midge flies are nonbiting insects found in lakes and ponds throughout Florida and are known by many common names including blind mosquito and fuzzy bill. They do not bite or carry disease like true mosquitoes do. They are more of a nuisance than anything. They can not be completely eliminated, but they can be controlled. Reducing these pests involves limiting the things in the habitat that they find most inviting, such as stagnant water and algae. Introducing natural predators such as fish that feed on them can also help to control insect populations. Aquatic Systems will determine the underlying causes of your infestation and create a management plan to keep them under control.

GRASS CARP & SPORT FISH STOCKING Live fish add excitement to any waterway. There are several reasons to stock ponds and lakes with fish: they help to keep a balanced aquatic ecosystem, they are great for sport fishing, and certain fish weed and midge fly control. Triploid Grass Carp When it comes to weed control, one of the best fish to stock is the Triploid Grass Carp, also known as the White Amur. Unlike the grass carp that are a problem throughout the US, the fish we stock are sterile, ensuring that their populations do not increase. Sport Fish Stocking Catching fish is one of the top recreational activities for both Floridians and tourists. Aquatic Systems can stock your pond or lake with a wide variety of hardy native freshwater fish including these popular species: Largemouth Bass - Florida s state freshwater fish. Bluegill - live in the shallow, warm, vegetated areas of lakes for easy catching. Channel Catfish - they grow very well in ponds.

WATER TESTING ANALYSIS Is the water in your lake clear or cloudy? Does it have any odors? At the heart of the lake or pond is the water itself. Some companies will tell you what needs to be done before fully understanding the underlying causes of a problem. That can lead to higher costs and wasted time if the cure does not truly address the problem. Making sure the water is clear, rich in oxygen at all levels, and that it possesses the right levels of healthy bacteria and nutrients is what Aquatic Systems does best. Our process starts with a field consultation. Field and lab tests may ensue if warranted to make sure we have the most complete picture of what is going on in your lake. We have a fully staffed, in-house laboratory* to provide complete water testing services to our clients.

LAKE AERATION & FLOATING FOUNTAINS Lake Aeration Many problems in lakes are caused by a lack of oxygen and stratification. Lakes that are stratified have increased bottom muck, excessive nutrients, plant/algae growth, and gases. Vertex Water Features advanced diffuser design creates tiny bubbles that form an ultra-wide column of upward moving water, turning the lake over and allowing oxygen to be absorbed at the surface to eliminate these problems. Floating Fountains Now that the health of your lake is taken care of, it's time to consider the aesthetics. Fountains enhance the landscape of any property. Vertex Water Features designs, manufactures, installs, services and repairs floating fountains to complete the transformation to... Everything Your Lake Should Be
