4 MARINE RESOURCES DEPARTMENT Survey of tuna and tuna like fishes in the Nigeria EEZ Exploratory deep sea fishing NIOMR Survey deeper waters meters to relieve pressure on the coastal resources Achievement: Drift fishes Arioma bandi and Arioma malanum found in Commercial quantities at about m

5 Identification of New Fisheries Resources NIOMR research survey carried out in the near shore waters, coastal lagoons and estuaries established these areas as nursery grounds for explioted fisheries resources. Stock assessment also carried out from time to time.

6 DEPARTMENT OF AQUACULTURE Selection of cultivable fish species Integrated fish farming with vegetable production Fish pond construction and control of water/soil quality parameters Fish culture in home stead concrete tanks Water recirculation system with a production capacity of 20 tonnes of table fish
