1 RULES SEASON CATCH AND RELEASE BASS TOURNAMENTS 1.0 ELIGIBILTY FOR REGULAR TOURNAMENTS, THE CLASSIC AND PRIZES. All 2017 regular season tournaments are to be fished by teams of two anglers. At least one of the two participants must be 18 years of age at the date of the tournament registered. In the event that one of the two participants is a minor, a signature from a parent or legal guardian is required. Participants whom will be driving the boat must have a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card and provide proof of insurance for the boat utilized during the tournament. Each registered team will be allowed up to 2 partner substitutions during the 2017 season and all the weights will go to the registered team. The participant substituting for a partner must have a 2017 Pro-Bass Canada participant membership. 2.0 SPORT FISHING AND TOURNAMENT RULES All sport fishing regulations established by ministries of jurisdiction must be followed during Pro-Bass Canada tournaments. 1

2 Only Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass may be weighed. No other species of fish are to be kept on board your boat during tournaments. 3.0 SPORSTMANSHIP All participants must act with safety in mind, demonstrate a high level of sportsmanship and respect to the environment. Participants must also show courtesy at all times. All actions that have harmed or may harm Pro-Bass Canada s efforts to promote its sponsors, collaborators, environmental conservation and the standard of sportsmanship, is considered sufficient grounds for the participant or participants to be refused or disqualified. 4.0 BOATS Boats must measure a minimum of 14 feet in length, must have equipment required and approved by the Coast Guard and must have a functioning live well or means to maintain live fish aboard. Motor power rating may not exceed the maximum power rating indicated on the ID plate of the boat. All boats must be equipped with a Kill Switch. Canoes are not allowed. Personal Flotation Devices (accepted by Pro-Bass Canada) must be worn by participants when the main engine is in gear and the boat is on plane. 4.1 INSURANCE Each participant must confirm that his or her boat is insured and must be able to produce a proof of insurance certificate if requested by an official. 5.0 ALCOOHOLIC BEVRAGES No alcoholic beverages are permitted aboard boats during tournament hours. 6.0 LIMITS AND BOUNDRIES OF TOURNAMENT WATERS All waters accessible by boat from the launch, without having to lock, will be considered within the tournament limits unless otherwise specified by Pro-Bass Canada. 2

3 7.0 BOAT CHECK AND LAUNCHING ALL BOATS must be checked and identified by a Pro-Bass Canada official in the morning before blast off. A waiver, sportsmanship and ethical code form must be signed by both participants before the boat may take its starting position. 8.0 TAKE OFF RETURN OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT AND WEIGH IN HOURS It is not permitted to fish before or after official hours on tournament days. The tournament starts after your start number has been called out REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS Saturday Tournament hours: Start 6:30 -- Return 16 :00 Sunday Tournament hours: Start 6:30 -- Return 15:30 TAKE OFF: Teams that are not present or ready when their number is called will start after all other numbers have been called. (At the end of the line) RETURN: A first horn will sound at the end of the tournament, a second horn will sound 5 minutes later after which participants that have not arrived are disqualified. Official tournament weigh-in hours will start 60 minutes before the end of each tournament, except in the case of an emergency or upon special request to Pro-Bass Canada. 9.0 RETURN CHECK-IN NEW WEIGH-IN PROCEDURE Upon returning it is mandatory that participants check-in with an official at the designated check point. 9.1 LATE CHECK-IN Participants who arrive at the check point after the official return time (1 st horn) will be accessed a penalty of ½ pound deduction per minute late. 3

4 If a team arrives at the check point 5 minutes after the official return time (2 nd horn) they will be disqualified, their fish will not be weighed DISTANCE BETWEEN BOATS During tournament hours, it is strictly prohibited to be closer than 25 feet from another competitor s boat; violation of this rule will result in disqualification. If there is an emergency, you must call the emergency number given to you in the morning PARTICIPANTS MUST REMAIN ABOARD THEIR BOATS After calling the emergency number given in the morning and having spoken to Pro-Bass Canada officials, participants may be permitted to go aboard another competitor s boat with their fish to be transported to the weigh-in site. No participant may be allowed on land without the permission of a Pro-Bass Canada official TYPES OF LURES Only artificial lures or pork rind may be used during tournaments. Only one Bait Casting or Spinning rod and reel may be used at one time. Any other is prohibited. Other rod and reel combinations as specified above are allowed in the boat, ready to use, however the use of only one rod and reel per angler is permitted at all times MINIMUM LENGTH OF FISH ( Max 5 Bass) The minimum length for each kept Bass is 12 inches in length from its closed mouth to its open tail. Fish brought to weigh-in that do not measure 12 inches in length will not be weighed and a ½ pound penalty (for each short fish) will be deducted from the total weight of that team. For each dead fish weighed a ½ pound penalty will be deducted from the total weight of that team. A dead fish may not be weighed for Big Fish (Lunker) prizes TRANSPORTING FISH 4

5 During tournament hours when the main engine is running and the boat is on plane, the maximum number of Bass allowed in the live wells is (5) five. If during an inspection by an official there are found to be more than 5 fish in the live wells the team will be disqualified for that tournament GREIVANCES CONCERNING RULE VIOLATIONS All grievances concerning rule violations by a team participating in the tournament must be made verbally or in writing and remitted to Pro-Bass Canada within 30 minutes of the end of the tournament or the (last weigh-in). The grievance must be accompanied with (50$) Fifty Dollars fee in cash. It will be at Pro-Bass Canada s discretion to reimburse the $50.00 fee if the grievance is deemed receivable DISQUALIFICATIONS Registration fees of participants who are disqualified for any violation of tournament rules will not be reimbursed. ***All participants in Pro-Bass Canada events must sign a, waiver, code of ethics and sportsmanship form, failure to do so may result in disqualification.**** 17.0 DECISIONS MADE BY PRO-BASS CANADA OFFICIALS The interpretation of these rules is at the exclusive discretion of Pro-Bass Canada. All decisions are final and are not subject to appeal. Pro-Bass Canada may at all times: - Disqualify one or several participant s for violation of its rules, without reimbursement. - Cancel a tournament because of bad weather conditions or any other justifiable reasons. - Make changes at tournaments such as, tournament hours, fishing zones or speed limits, for security or other reasons, all changes will be final. 5

6 Pro-Bass Canada Reserves final decision with regards to; Any and all disputes that may occur at any time as well as any and all issues concerning Pro-Bass Canada events RESPONSABILTY Pro-Bass Canada does not hold itself responsible: - For the withdrawal of sponsors or the effects they may have on the prizes and/or payouts at its events. - Lost or stolen objects, before, during or after their events POSITIONS The winning positions at each tournament are determined from the total weight of 5 Bass accumulated by each teams during the tournament. The position order of the winning team is calculated by the total weight minus penalties (if applicable) 19.1 TIES In the event that two or more winning position teams share the same weight, we will then determine the position of the winners based on the number of live fish weighed during the day or days of the tournament. If the tie is still not broken by this method, we will then proceed to a draw to establish the position order of the tied teams. The number will be given the day before the tournament and will follow the numbers of those who paid and registered for the full 2017 season. Registrations received after the Sunday preceding the tournament An additional fee of $75 per team will be added to the entry fee if the registration is received after the Sunday preceding the tournament. Teams that register the morning of the tournament must pay in cash.
