For recretionl use customers, MotorGuide electric trolling motors re wrrnted to the originl retil purchser to be free from defects in mteril or workmnship for period of two yers from the dte of purchse. 2. To obtin wrrnty service, the purchser should deliver or return the unit (postge prepid nd insured) to ny MotorGuide uthorized service deler. DO NOT RETURN TO PLACE OF PURCHASE unless they re n uthorized service center. Products returned by mil should be crefully pckged nd include note describing the nture of the problem nd/or service requested, customer ddress, nd phone number. A copy of the receipt, bill of sle, registrtion verifiction or other proof of purchse is required with the return of the product for wrrnty considertion. This Limited Wrrnty begins on the dte the product is first sold to purchser or the dte on which the product is first put into service, whichever occurs first. MotorGuide ccessories re covered by this Limited Wrrnty for coverge period of one (1) yer from the dte of retil sle. The repir or replcement of prts, or the performnce of service under this wrrnty, does not extend the life of this wrrnty beyond its originl expirtion dte. All serilized "Service Repir" trolling motors receive (1) one yer wrrnty. Non serilized "Service Repir" electric trolling motors re NOT wrrnted. "Service Repir" motor denotes trolling motor sold by MotorGuide tht my be used, but hs been inspected nd my hve hd minor repirs. Originl retil purchser of "Service Repir" motor is the first purchser of the motor fter it is denoted s "Service Repir." "Service Repir" motors hve blue sticker on the bttery cble nd box denoting "Mnufcturer Certified Service Repir Motor." 10. 14 GENERAL INFORMATION AND COMPONENT IDENTIFICATION Boter's Responsibilities The opertor (driver) is responsible for the correct nd sfe opertion of the bot nd sfety of its occupnts nd generl public. It is strongly recommended tht ech opertor (driver) red nd understnd this entire mnul before operting the trolling motor. Be sure t lest one dditionl person on bord is instructed in the bsic opertion of the trolling motor in cse the driver is unble to operte the bot. Protecting People in the Wter WHILE YOU ARE TROLLING It is difficult for person in the wter to tke quick ction to void bot heding in their direction, even t slow speeds Alwys slow down nd exercise extreme cution ny time you re boting in n re where there might be people in the wter. WHILE THE BOAT IS STATIONARY! WARNING A spinning propeller, moving bot, or ny solid device ttched to the bot cn cuse serious injury or deth to swimmers. Stop the trolling motor immeditely whenever nyone in the wter is ner your bot. Shut off the trolling motor before llowing people to swim or be in the wter ner your bot. Pssenger Sfety Messge Whenever the bot is in motion, observe the loction of ll pssengers. A sudden reduction in bot speed, such s shrp chnge of bot direction, could throw them off the bot. If in doubt, contct your deler or the bot's mnufcturer. Perform sfety checks nd required mintennce. Follow regulr schedule nd ensure ll repirs re mde properly. Never be under the influence of lcohol or drugs while boting (it is the lw). Alcohol or drug use impirs your judgment nd gretly reduces your bility to rect quickly. Pssenger bording. Stop the trolling motor whenever pssengers re bording or unloding. Be lert. The opertor of the bot is responsible by lw to mintin proper lookout by sight nd hering. The opertor must hve n unobstructed view prticulrly to the front. No pssengers, lod, or fishing sets should block the opertors view when operting the bot. Underwter hzrds. Reduce speed nd proceed with cution whenever nvigting in shllow wter. Tripping hzrds. To void trip hzrd, route ll cbles nd wiring netly nd out of the wy. Report ccidents. Bot opertors re required by lw to file Boting Accident Report with their stte boting lw enforcement gency when their bot is involved in certin boting ccidents. A boting ccident must be reported if 1) there is loss of life or probble loss of life, 2) there is personl injury requiring medicl tretment beyond first id, 3) there is dmge to bots or other property where the dmge vlue exceeds $ or 4) there is complete loss of the bot. 16 PRODUCT INSTALLATION, WIRING, AND BATTERY INFORMATION Instlling the Trolling Motor 1. Remove the two side pnel screws from ech side of the deck mount. Gently pull the side pnels wy from the deck mount, tking cre not to dmge the locting tbs, nd remove the side pnels from both sides of the trolling motor. b Side pnel screws b - Locting tb 2. If you re replcing n existing MotorGuide or competitive brnd trolling motor on your current bot, check if the existing mounting holes lign with the new deck mount before drilling new holes. Ensure tht the mounting loction meets the requirements listed in Step If new holes re not required to mount the trolling motor, skip hed to Step Crefully select n pproprite re on the deck of the bot close to the centerline to instll the trolling motor. Ensure tht the forwrd mounting bolts will not penetrte the hull. Hve n ssistnt hold the trolling motor in position while the mounting loction is being selected. IMPORTANT: The mounting position must be tested in the stowed nd deployed positions before drilling the mounting holes. IMPORTANT: Choose n re on the deck with 10.2 cm (4.0 in.) of clernce between the bow of the bot nd the deck mount to prevent interference between the trolling motor nd the bow roller when loding or unloding on steep rmp. IMPORTANT: Ensure tht the hed does not protrude beyond the bem of the bot when in the stowed position. 8 eng

17 PRODUCT INSTALLATION, WIRING, AND BATTERY INFORMATION IMPORTANT: A minimum clernce of 13 mm (0.5 in.) is required between the motor column nd the rub ril on the bot when the trolling motor is deployed. Mounting position with 10.2 cm (4.0 in.) clernce from the bow Plce the trolling motor onto the deck of the bot t the selected loction in the stowed position. Use the deck mounting brcket s templte nd mrk the loction of the mounting holes. IMPORTANT: Four mounting holes (two on ech side) re required to securely mount the trolling motor. There re seven mounting hole positions to choose from on ech side of the deck mounting brcket. Choose two hole positions on ech side tht work the best with your bot configurtion. IMPORTANT: Select mounting hole loctions s fr prt s prcticl on ech side of the deck mounting brcket for the most secure mounting Mounting hole loctions sme on both sides 6. Drill the mounting holes with 8 mm (5/16 in.) drill bit. Remove ny debris. IMPORTANT: To help prevent crcking on fiberglss decks, use countersink bit or lrger drill bit to countersink the mounting holes. 7. Align the deck mounting brcket to the holes in the deck. On fiberglss bots with no crpet where the motor is being instlled, instll the rubber isoltors between the bot deck nd the deck mounting brcket. Instll three stinless steel mounting bolts through the mounting holes on one side of the deck mounting brcket. Instll wsher nd nylock nut onto ech bolt, but do not tighten them t this time. eng 9

Instll the bolts through the deck mounting holes while holding the deck mounting brcket t n ngle. Holding the deck mounting brcket t n ngle llows the bolts to be instlled with less interference from the foot relese mechnism. Instll wsher nd nylock nut onto ech bolt Align the trolling motor with the mounting holes in the deck. Hold the mounting bolts securely with 7/16 in. wrench while using wrench or socket to tighten the nylock nuts on both sides of the deck mounting brcket from under the deck. 10. 20 PRODUCT INSTALLATION, WIRING, AND BATTERY INFORMATION Recommended Prctice nd Procedures IMPORTANT: Unplug the trolling motor fter ech use nd when chrging the bttery. Do not use the min engine bttery to power the trolling motor. Ensure tht the btteries re enclosed within bttery box to prevent ccidentl shorting of the bttery terminls. Route the trolling motor wires on the opposite side of the bot from other bot wiring. Connect bot ccessories directly to the min engine bttery. Do not chrge the trolling motor btteries while the trolling motor is in the deployed (down) position. Bttery Recommendtions Use 12 volt, deep cycle mrine btteries. The number of btteries required vries ccording to the model of your trolling motor. Refer to Bttery Connection. As generl rule, deep cycle btteries with higher mp hour rting or reserve cpcity rting will provide longer run times nd better performnce. Instll mnul reset circuit breker in line with the trolling motor positive leds within 180 cm (72 in.) of the btteries. These cn be purchsed from your locl MotorGuide retiler or from Do not extend the included 10 guge bttery cbles more thn 1.8 m (6 ft) for totl of 3 m (10 ft). If longer bttery cbles re required, MotorGuide offers ccessory 8 mm² (8 guge) bttery cbles. Use nylock nuts to secure the bttery cbles to their terminls. Using wing nuts to secure the bttery cbles cn cuse loose connections. Any depth sounders or fish finders must be powered from the engine strting bttery. Connecting electronic equipment to the trolling motor btteries cn cuse electricl interference nd possible electrolysis. Estblishing Common Ground A common ground ( ) connection increses sonr sensitivity, improves sonr disply, voids the ground circuit s possible source of corrosion or electrolysis, nd reduces interference with other electronic equipment. For 12 volt trolling motor pplictions, connect the negtive ( ) terminl on the trolling motor bttery to the negtive ( ) terminl on the engine strting bttery with common ground cble to estblish common ground. For 24 volt nd 36 volt trolling motors, common ground ( ) connection cnnot be estblished with the 12 volt electricl system in the bot due to the different circuit voltges. The trolling motor receiver cn sync up to 40 wireless controllers. This ensures tht the trolling motor will respond to commnds only from designted controllers. Follow the instructions below to ctivte wireless controller with your trolling motor. For ersing nd reprogrmming informtion, refer to Foot Pedl nd Hndheld Remote Reprogrmming nd Bttery Replcement. IMPORTANT: To ctivte multiple foot pedls or remotes, the motor must be unplugged from the power source nd then plugged bck into the power source between ctivting ech control device. 1. Press the increse speed (+) button to increse motor speed by one level, nd press the decrese speed ( ) button to reduce motor speed by one level. Holding the increse speed (+) or decrese speed ( ) will cuse the speed level to increse or decrese until the speed level limit is reched. Holding the increse speed (+) or decrese speed ( ) button for 2.5 seconds will rmp up the speed level from 0% to 100%, or decrese from 100% to 0%, respectively.
