This day of interactive science at Hudson River Park s Pier 84 invites the public to experience awesome experiments, kid-approved science entertainment, catch & release fishing, kayaking and more! Hudson River Park s Estuary Lab is committed to advancing public awareness and understanding of our local waterways. At SUBMERGE, dozens of organizations that further this mission will share their work. The SUBMERGE festival aims to inspire audiences of all ages and make marine science and STEM accessible and engaging for everyone.

4 FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS Presented by Hudson River Park s Estuary Lab Discovery Lab Explore science and stewardship in Hudson River Park! Examine a drop of river water under a microscope to discover live plankton and monitor oysters alongside Estuary Lab scientists. River Ranger Kid Zone Hudson River Park s Estuary Lab educators invite budding scientists to observe and explore river science. Meet live animals in an interactive touch tank and create your own marine-themed crafts. Roving River Keep an eye out for the Estuary Lab s Roving River tricycle an exhibit of Hudson River wildlife on wheels! Observe river animals up close and interact with smaller species in a kidfriendly touch tank. Presented by Hudson River Park s festival partners Big City Fishing Participants can drop in a line and engage with environmental educators on such topics as water quality, fish biology and more. Fishing is a fun and educational way to learn about local ecology and the many fish species that can be found in the Hudson River. Rods, reels, bait and instruction are included. Appropriate for adults and kids 5+. City That Drinks the Mountain Sky: Part 2 Arm of the Sea theater company, based in Saugerties, NY, creates interactive theater performances that inspire and enrich the public s understanding of local watershed issues. Enjoy their production, City That Drinks the Mountain Sky: Part 2, and explore new challenges facing NYC s water supply and the effects of a changing climate. 3:00 4:00 PM Kayaking Manhattan Kayak Company will provide free kayaking experiences during the festival at HRPK s Pier 84 Boathouse. It includes four miles of waterside esplanade, 16 reconstructed public piers to date, four dedicated boat houses for sailing, rowing and paddling, and numerous other places to play, learn and relax. The Hudson River Park Trust a partnership between New York State and City manages the Park s design, construction, and operation. Guided by a vision for a magnificent waterfront park, the Trust continues to advance the Park s growth through reclaiming forgotten piers and working with NYC s thriving civic community to complete construction projects. SUBMERGE is presented with additional support from Estuary Lab Hudson River Park s Estuary Lab offers hands-on education and interactive scientific research with the purpose of communicating the ecological importance of the Park s 400-acre estuarine sanctuary. Through the Estuary Lab s parkwide programs, visitors are invited to experience the River as a living laboratory for community engagement and stewardship.
