1 OCTOBER / NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER General membership meeting: The Fish on Club held its regular monthly general membership meeting November 14, 7:00pm, at the American Legion in New Port Richey. We had 54 members in attendance to include 1 new member. Please welcome Burt Golub, our newest member. Our guest speaker for the meeting was Officer Damon Palanski of the Florida Wildlife Commission. Officer Palanski spoke to the membership on the do s and don ts of boating and fishing and reminded everyone that doing it all legally makes for a much more enjoyable and safe outing. He highlighted several points most fishermen seem to take for granted. 1. Reef Permits. A fisherman must have this permit to fish off shore and it must be renewed yearly. There is no cost for the reef permit. 2. Federal waters are 9 miles off shore on the Gulf side and 3 miles off shore on the east coast. 3. Life jackets must fit those on board and there must be one for each passenger. 4. Next free fishing day is November 25, Officer Palanski also provided small gifts for the membership who were able to answer questions he asked pertaining to rules and regulation. He was very informative and we appreciate him speaking to us.

Old Business and Past Events: Wednesday, Nov.1 st was the FOC s "Fun Fishing Day and Meet Up". In years gone by the club would have fun fishing days where the members would meet up after fishing at a local establishment to exchange stories etc. So we decided to re-kindle these events. Those members who chose to participate got together at Gill Dawgs in Port Richey at 3PM to tell a few tales after a day of fishing and catching. Everyone had a great time as indicated by the pictures below. Plan to join us next time we have a FOC Fun Day.

3 On November 18, the FOC held it s annual Fall Picnic at the A. L. Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs. 70 plus members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of camaraderie and great food. We also had some fun playing corn hole and ladder toss. Jim McCarthy emceed our version of the Wheel of Fortune where your dollar got you one spin and a chance to win a nice prize of your choice. Jim had also acquired many great gifts for our Price is Right game where you had to guess the retail value of the prize and the closest to the exact price won the gift. Both games turned out great with many winning some very nice prizes. We also held a silent auction of some nice donated gifts. Some to include handmade items from our membership. It was well participated in and many went home with some real treasures. The club would like to thank Pete Steeneck for Chairing the planning of this great event. We also thank Jim McCarthy for all the work he did in making our Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune games a huge hit with everyone. We also had a lot of volunteers show up early and help set up the tables and get everything ready for the picnic. Thank you all. Below are pictures from the event.

6 We would like to also thank everyone who came because without you and the wonderful food you brought, it wouldn t have been such a successful picnic. If you were unable to attend, we will be having another picnic in the Spring. Hope to see you there. NEW BUSINESS Note: We will not be having a dinner social the months of November, December or January. FYI: Got some tackle you don t use anymore or are you in need of some? The December 12 th General Membership Meeting is the clubs annual Flea Market Sale. Bring your unwanted gear to the meeting and make someone who needs it happy and find a treasure for yourself. Bring your appetite as well because we will be serving hot dogs with chips again. Still only $2.00.

7 NOTICE The FOC membership dues are due at the December membership meeting. Please bring cash or check and get signed up. Yearly dues are $ The After Holiday Party is $20.00 and this is for you and your spouse. Please calendar January 13 th and attend this great event. You must sign up for the party by the next meeting. The year long tournament is $20.00 and that qualifies you for all the species of fish for the year. Help yourself and your club by signing up for all three FOC events Any Grouper is still the targeted species this month. Don t forget, you must fill out a fishing report to qualify. The grouper winner will be announced at the next General Membership meeting. The club is still looking for someone to step up and Chair the Wish to Fish fundraising activities. We have plenty of past data and contact information to assist the Chairman and their committee. Please consider volunteering for this important position in the club. We will also have the positions of President and Vice President for 2018 becoming available. If you or someone you know would like to become more active in your club, please volunteer or plan to nominate someone for one of these important positions. We are now going to charge a set fee of only $20 per fisherman and that will enter him or her into the tournament and eligible to compete for all 7 species of fish we re targeting in the tournament. We hope this will generate a lot more interest in tournament and allow more fishermen to join in the fun.

8 Fishing Reports: Fishermen and Their Catches PLEASE submit a report EVERY time you return from a fishing trip. We want to know all about your outing if you did more fishing than catching. The more information shared with your fellow members helps us all become better fishermen. Information like time of

9 day, tide movement, weather conditions, bait, general fishing locations, species & size caught is all pertinent. Picture(s) would be great. Even if nothing spectacular was caught this information would let other members know what is or isn't going on. **** Alert: Kiddie Fire Extinguisher Recall**** More than 40 million fire extinguishers, some on the market for more than four decades, are being recalled because they may not work in an emergency. Please ensure all office, home and project location fire extinguishers are inspected for the models detailed at the web address below. One death has been linked to problems with the extinguishers made by Kidde, according to the notice Thursday from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall covers 134 models of push-button and plastic-handle extinguishers in the U.S. and Canada made from 1973 through Aug. 15 of this year. It includes models that were previously recalled in March of 2009 and February of 2015, the commission said Thursday.
