WELCOME Dear Members and Paintbrush Guests, Welcome to the 11th Annual Paintbrush. It is our commitment to make this one of the top Member-Guest tournaments in Colorado. The staff and distinguished Paintbrush committee have worked hard to honor the tradition and camaraderie of the Paintbrush. You and your partner will be playing our fabulous Coore & Crenshaw designed championship golf course, which will be hosting the 2019 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship, in addition to having hosted the 2013 Solheim Cup and the 2010 Senior PGA Championship. The course is in excellent condition thanks to our golf course superintendent, Steve Eller. The week is certain to produce fun and remarkable memories for all. We kick off the festivities with Wednesday evening s Brush- Off shootout and player s party on the Patio, followed by a couples party on Friday night. Country club casual dress is appropriate for all evening events. Most importantly, I want to thank the entire staff and golf crew at Colorado Golf Club: from the food and beverage staff to the bag room and range staff, and special thanks to Head Professional Graham Cliff and his assistants Anthony Vitale, Chris Murzyn and Corey Zoller. These folks go to extreme efforts to make this event first class. I would also like to thank the 2017 Paintbrush Committee of Jeff Oneth and Joe Stair. The Committee, General Manager Bob Kunz, Head Golf Professional Graham Cliff and the entire staff are privileged to be your hosts for the 2017 Paintbrush. We hope you enjoy the competition and wonderful events of the week that have become a great tradition at Colorado Golf Club Paintbrush Chairman, Jim Sexton

BRUSH-OFF Wednesday, July 19th - 5:00 p.m. This is a sudden-death team alternate shot event, flighted by team handicap. Players will be grouped into six flights; once flights have been determined, play will begin at scratch (no handicaps). Flights One, Two & Three Tee off on hole 12 Flights Four, Five & Six Tee off on hole 5 Flights Seven & Eight Tee off on hole 17 Flights Nine & Ten Tee off on hole 3 Flights Eleven & Twelve Tee off on hole 10 Flights Thirteen & Fourteen Tee off on hole 9 Flight Fifteen & Sixteen Tee off on hole 1 On the first hole played, the member will introduce his guest, who will hit the first tee shot. After that tee shot, the event will be played as a true alternate shot format. Whichever player holes out on the first hole, their partner will tee off on the second hole. Ties on holes will be broken by a chip-off. Both team members will compete in the chip-off. Players must turn their backs while other teams are chipping so they do not get an undue advantage. Teams will be eliminated on each of the first three holes played. The remaining two teams will play a final hole to determine the winner. The winning team in each flight is awarded $200!
TOURNAMENT FORMAT PAR 3 SCRAMBLE (Optional) Entry Fee: $50 per team Walking Only on the Par 3 Odd Flights - Thursday, July 20th, 2:00 p.m. tee opens Even Flights - Friday, July 21st, 2:00 p.m. tee opens This event is a Net 9-Hole Team Scramble played against the entire field. Each team plays five 9-hole matches, playing each team one time within their respective flight. Each match represents nine possible points. Teams get one point for winning a hole and one-half point for tying a hole. The format for each match is One Net Best Ball of the team. Each player will receive 90% of his handicap. A maximum handicap stroke differential of ten has been allowed between team members. If there is more than a ten-stroke differential between players, the higher handicap will be adjusted down. Flight assignments have been made on the basis of total combined handicaps as adjusted. Match play rules apply throughout the tournament. All matches will be handicapped off the low ball in each match. After completion of each 9-hole match, proceed directly to the assigned starting hole of your next match. Do not drive to the Clubhouse. A staff member will pick up your scorecard. In the event of any ties in a flight, the winner will be determined by how the tying teams performed against each other. The second tie-breaker is the number of points from the last match played. The final tie-breaker is a chip-off.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT TEE IT FORWARD Members who have posted more than 60% of their last 20 rounds at Colorado Golf Club from a specific tee-box (e.g. Combo or White Tees) will have the option to play those tees for all golf events at CGC. Players who are playing a different tee-box from where the event is being conducted will have their handicaps adjusted under Handicap rule 3-5. Any guest who is over the age of 70 has the option to move up to the Combo or White Tees, under Rule 3-5. SHOOTOUT The Paintbrush Shootout is a two-part event where the overall Champions of the tournament will be determined. The winners and runners-up teams from each flight will be flighted into four groups along with two wild card teams. Each team will play an alternate shot format with teams being eliminated over 4 holes. Winners of each flight (16) will be grouped into their own two groups. The top two teams from each of these groups will move on to the final shootout. The remaining 18 teams will be flighted into two groups, only the top team from each of these groups will advance to the final shootout. This will leave a total of 6 teams. The remaining six teams will proceed to the 16th hole. The Finals will be a best-ball format on each hole. Two teams will be eliminated on the 16th and 17th hole. Chip-Offs will be the tie-breaker. The two surviving teams will compete to be Overall Champions on the 18th hole. If there is a tie on the 18th hole, the teams will re-play holes 18. If a winner is not determined after the two playoff holes, the winner will be determined by a chip-off. TEAM BUY-IN There will be an optional buy-in per team for $200. The money collected will go to awarding 1st and 2nd place in each flight as well as the Paintbrush Champion, Runner Up, and 3rd place. The flight that represents the Paintbrush Champion will receive a $200 payout to each team in that flight. Members of the winning flight must be present at the shootout to receive the $200. (The below amounts are subject to change if we do not have 100% participation) Paintbrush Champion $2,500 Paintbrush Runner Up $1,500 3rd & 4th Place $750 Flight Winner $400 Flight Runners Up $200 Paintbrush Champion s Flight Teams $200 (Must be present to receive) Brush Off Winners $200
GENERAL INFO CARTS All teams will be assigned a cart. Carts are required because it is a shotgun start and getting to your starting tee between matches may involve travel of some distance. When you complete each day's first 9-hole match, please proceed directly to the starting hole of your next match. If one group does not proceed directly to their next starting hole, then the entire shotgun will be delayed. The use of carts is included in your entry fee for the tournament. CADDIES The cost of a caddie is not included in your entry fee for the tournament. Caddie Master Mike Engler will assign caddies for all participants upon request. Special requests for caddies must be made in advance through the Caddie Master. WEATHER CONTINGENCIES The decision to suspend and/or resume play will be determined by the tournament committee and will be indicated by a long blast of the siren. If play is suspended due to lightning or other cases of emergency, all players shall discontinue play immediately and mark the position of their ball. Players will not have the option to complete the hole being played. Play shall not resume until the committee has ordered a resumption of play. 9-HOLE MATCHES If matches cannot be completed, the holes not played will be halved. SHOOTOUT If play is not completed on Saturday, it will resume at 8:00 a.m. Sunday. Teams unable to play Sunday will be eliminated. LOCKER ROOM POLICIES All players are advised to please see Aaron Lesser, Locker Room Manager, in the Men s Locker Room immediately after registering on Wednesday. Aaron will have locker assignments for all guests and will assist them in setting up their home base for the week of the Paintbrush.
RULES & ATTIRE RULES USGA Rules will govern all play with the following local rules in effect: On holes 11 and 17, The forward tees may be used as a ball drop for balls in the hazard. Staked trees are to be played as immovable obstructions. Players only receive relief from stakes or guide wires, not from the tree. Embedded Ball Rule: Anywhere through the green, a ball embedded in its own pitch-mark, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to its original spot but not nearer the hole. In case of no shows, the team that fails to play will be disqualified for that match and receive zero points. Their opponents will play against par for the 9 available points. USGA permits the use of electronic devices that measure distance only. However, the USGA does not permit the use of devices that take into consideration wind speed, gradient or temperature. CGC will permit the devices that measure wind speed, gradient or temperature if the player turns these options off. Breech of this rule is disqualification (Rule 14-3/0.5). Reminders: 1. Red stakes mark Lateral Water Hazards. 2. Fourteen club rule is in effect. 3. Non-conforming equipment is prohibited in tournament play. ATTIRE Golf attire is appropriate for all golf and social events. Club policy does not permit hats to be worn in the clubhouse at any time. Men's Attire: Golf shirt with collared or mock neck and slacks or Bermuda length shorts are considered appropriate. Cargo shorts are not permitted.
