Inside you will find details on summer programs run by our golf, tennis and swimming professionals. We look forward to a fun and engaging summer with you, your family and friends at Meridian Hills! At Meridian Hills, we create a fun and energetic environment to showcase the game of golf and to encourage the development of the junior golfer. Focus is placed on how golfers conduct themselves on the golf course, the basic fundamentals of the golf swing, and making the game FUN! Our goal is to have each young golfer excited about coming to Meridian Hills to learn about golf and learn to love the game for their lifetime! To supplement the clinic instruction, the staff will use our SNAG Golf system, which offers a fresh agenda of games and contest. Our PGA Assistant Golf Professional will lead the staff. Clinics will take place from June 12 th to July 24 th. 3 GOLF JUNIOR GOLF (AGES 8-13) Similar to the Pee-Wee Program, Junior Golf serves an opportunity to refine and develop golf skills across ability levels. At Meridian Hills, we create a fun and energetic environment to showcase the game of golf and to encourage the development of the junior golfer. 4 SWIM SWIMMING LESSONS Important Information: Classes are offered throughout June and July on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday Two time slots are available each day: 12:30-1:00 & 1:00 1:30 More advanced swimmers please choose 1:00 1:30 timeslot Free evaluations will be provided the week before lessons begin. Please take advantage of the opportunity so that we can place your child in the best class based on their skill set. 5 SWIM SWIM TEAM GEAR NEEDED: Suit (ordered through swim team) Cap (provided by the club) Goggles Towel (bring to meets) Swim Team Shirt (ordered through swim team) PARENTAL DUTIES: Volunteer at two swim meets during the season Download Meet Central for meets Cheer loudly! OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: Swimmers 6 & under will swim all of their events (3 events) at the beginning of the meet. Once the 6 & unders are done with their events, we will go through each stroke for each age group. There will be a heat sheet made available to parents at each meet so you know when your child is swimming. PRACTICE INFORMATION Swimmers are encouraged to come to one practice each day; however, we do not require any practice attendance. We do keep track of the attendance at practice for reference when it comes to the end of the year participants. We do not offer practices on Wednesdays and only offer practice in the morning on Fridays! 6 TENNIS ABOUT THE PROGRAM The 2017 program is designed to use the game of tennis to develop both young people s athleticism and social skills. The Meridian Hills approach groups youth according to their age and developmental state, from early childhood participants all the way through tournament-level players. While all of our classes are age appropriate, we take an individual approach with your child s progress, and ensuring he or she advances at a pace that maximizes their talent while building their love of the game. This program runs weekly from June 4th through August 9th. MINIS / STARS Monday 11-12:15 Tuesday 8:30-9:45 Wednesday 11-12:15 Thursday 11-12:15 Friday make up for rain JUNIOR EXCELLENCE / ACADEMY Monday 8:30-11:00 Tuesday 11:00-1:30 Wednesday 12-2:30 Thursday 8:30-11:00 Friday make up for rain REGISTRATION Online meridianhillscc.org/hills_handbook/ tennis_registration In Person See Member Services at Club for form PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS MINI S (AGES 4-5): This fun-filled class will offer ageappropriate activities with more emphasis on hand-eye coordination and team sports socialization. We use smaller courts, shorter nets, & low compression balls to make the experience fun & positive. STARS (AGES 6-7): We will place an emphasis on handeye coordination, proper racquet grip & stroke technique. JUNIOR EXCELLENCE (AGES 8 & UP): Students in this program will begin to experience higher levels of competition. Proper techniques in ground strokes, volleys, and serves are learned while students get more opportunities to play competitively. ACADEMY (AGES 10 & UP): This program focuses on skills & techniques needed to play competitively at a high school level. Morning sessions will focus on stroke development, tennis pattens, & drills. In the afternoon, students will get the opportunity to play individual matches at an additional cost. $80 Cost Full Week (Minis/Stars) $50 Cost Half Week (Minis/Stars) $140 Cost Full Week (Junior Excellence/Academy) $85 Cost Half Week (Junior Excellence/Academy) 10 11

7 KIDS CLUB PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Summer will be here before you know it and we are hoping to have your child join us in the Kid s Club! Kid s Club is a fun place for your kids and grandchildren to come play and hang out with friends. If you have not taken the opportunity to use Kid s Club, please do so soon. It offers a variety of activities to entertain younger ones, while you enjoy the many amenities the Club has to offer. Please Note: Reservations are required If no reservation is made and the Kid s Club is full when you arrive, the staff will not be able to accommodate your request. We can take a maximum of 16 children. Kid s Club provides care to member s children & grandchildren only. No guests please. The Kid s Club is a No Diapering facility. This means that the parents will be called (since they are on premise) to change their child s diaper if needed.
