1 CMA 2012 California Modified Assessmen GRADE 6 DiRECions for ADMinisRAion es Examiner and Procor Responsibiliies Compleing all of he following seps will help ensure ha no esing irregulariies occur, ha your sudens es resuls will be valid, and ha he Academic Performance Index (APi) and Adequae Yearly Progress (AYP) informaion for your school will be as accurae as possible. Review he maerials before esing o ensure ha you have all required maerials, including boh suden and examiner maerials. (See page 3 of his manual.) If he sudens answer documens were pre-idenified (Pre-ID d), check each answer documen for a bar code label in Secion 2. Disribue each answer documen only o he suden whose name is under he bar code. Ensure ha sudens have and use only No. 2 pencils. Ensure ha sudens complee Secion 1 on heir answer documens before beginning esing. Ensure ha sudens prin heir firs and las names on he fron cover of heir es bookles. Ensure ha sudens mark he es bookle version number in he CMA version number for ELA and Mahemaics box inside heir answer documens. Ensure ha each suden receives he correc es bookle and answer documen each day of esing. Adminiser each es par according o he schedule provided by your es sie coordinaor, and ensure ha you have enough ime o complee each es par in a single siing. If ranslaors are regularly used in he classroom, make sure hey are available for esing. Read he direcions in he boxes o sudens exacly as hey are prined. Only boxes wih a may be ranslaed. Acively supervise sudens while hey are working on he ess, ensuring ha hey are marking answers o he California Modified Assessmens (CMAs) in he correc secions of heir answer documens. 9 CALIFORNIA MODIFIED ASSESSMENT GRADE 6 es securiy EsinG CAUions Each person who has access o STAR es maerials, including California Modified Assessmen (CMA) maerials, mus sign a securiy affidavi before receiving any suden es maerials. If you have no signed a securiy affidavi, conac your STAR es sie coordinaor immediaely. The conens of all California STAR es bookles, including CMA es bookles, are secure maerials. Unauhorized copying or reuse of any California STAR es bookle or of any quesions wihin he bookle is illegal. Do Keep he ess secure a all imes. 10 CALIFORNIA MODIFIED ASSESSMENT GRADE 6 Es ADMinisRAion imes The CMA is no imed. Each es par, however, mus be finished in a single siing, wih no breaks, on he designaed es dae unless he suden has an individualized educaion program (iep) or a secion 504 plan ha allows for breaks during esing, or he suden is an English learner who is eligible o ake addiional supervised breaks as an allowable es variaion. Esimaed imes are provided for planning esing schedules, bu sudens mus be allowed as much ime as needed o complee each par of he es. The esimaed es adminisraion imes in Table 1 below are he minimum amoun of ime ha sudens should have for compleing each es par. The imes lised include 10 minues o disribue maerials, give direcions, and collec maerials, as well as he suden working ime needed for each es par. Sudens should be able o complee each es par in he ime esimaed in his able. schedules and Breaks Each es par should be adminisered sequenially (e.g., Par 1, followed by Par 2, and so forh). Tes pars should only be adminisered ou of sequence o sudens who have missed a regular es adminisraion day and when no oher opions are available for esing in he proper sequence. You mus follow he schedule your sar es sie coordinaor provided. The schedule may call for adminisering one or wo es pars during a day. When any wo es pars are adminisered on one day, sudens should have a break of a leas 10 minues beween he wo pars. During he break, es bookles are o remain closed and sudens are no o refer o hem. Sudens may leave he room during he break beween he es pars o ge drinks and use he resroom or o go o nuriion/recess or lunch. The nex es par mus be adminisered immediaely afer he break. If he room is lef unaended during he break: collec and secure he es maerials in locked cabines if he room canno be locked; or have sudens leave he es maerials on heir desks, and hen lock he esing room. Classes or groups of sudens may no ake a break (e.g., recess, lunch, and so forh) during a es par. If individual sudens need o use he resroom during a es par, he suden s maerials should be colleced and he suden should be moniored unil she/he reurns o finish esing. Do no begin a es par unless here is enough ime o complee i in one siing (wih he excepions described below). Some sudens may have an IEP or a Secion 504 plan ha allows for breaks wihin a es par. Also, some English learners may be eligible o ake addiional supervised breaks during a es par as an allowable es variaion. Your STAR es sie coordinaor may ask you o provide his accommodaion or variaion for specific sudens. If you are esing sudens who you hink will require more ime han is shown, work wih he es sie coordinaor o plan an appropriae schedule.

Sudens in grades 3 hrough 11 are eligible o ake he CMA if hey mee he paricipaion crieria adoped by he Sae Board of Educaion. Each suden shall: Have an IEP ha specifies ha he or she ake he CMA in one or more conen areas; Have aken he California Sandards Tes (CST) in a previous year and scored below basic or far below basic in he conen area being assessed by he CMA. For he CMA for Science, a suden may have aken he CST and scored below basic or far below basic in ELA, Mah, OR Science. Check wih your es sie coordinaor o deermine where hese sudens will be esed. Confirm where o pick up and reurn maerials each day of esing. Plan a quie aciviy for each esing session for sudens who finish early. The aciviy should no be relaed o he es being given. Sudens may work on assignmens for unrelaed subjecs, read library books, and so forh. if your disric used he Pre-iD service, suden name and oher informaion will be prined in he bar code box (Secion 2) on he fron page of each answer documen. If your disric ordered adhesive bar code labels, you may be asked o affix he labels o suden answer documens. Your STAR es sie coordinaor may insruc you o complee specific demographic informaion on each suden s answer documen (e.g., informaion no included in he Pre-ID file or for sudens who did no receive a Pre-ID answer documen). Make sure ha no insrucional maerials direcly relaed o he conen of he ess are visible o sudens. Inappropriae maerials include, bu are no limied o, vocabulary or spelling liss and ables of mahemaical facs or formulas. All such maerials mus be removed or covered during he esing session. Verify ha all esing maerials are assembled and ready. (See page 3.) During esing Encourage sudens o do heir bes. Make sure sudens clear heir desks of and sow away all books, elecronic devices, and oher maerials no needed for he es. Disribue answer documens and es bookles only o sudens whose names are on hem. on he firs day of esing, disribue blank es bookles and answer documens o sudens wih no Pre-iD es maerials.
