2 NATIONAL SENIOR APPRECIATION GOLF WEEK Dear PGA/LPGA/Course management and Sponsors, On behalf of The Johnny O Foundation, our supporters, and sponsors we would like to thank you for participating in the First Annual National Senior Appreciation Golf Week May 19th 26 th, Our foundation s mission and work raising awareness and research funds for the 60 million Alzheimer s, Dementia, and TBI and the families who support these people. We are the only national foundation to link all three causes. Our awareness and research include Sports, Action Sports, the Military and the general public. You can learn more by going to Just to inform you, some 9 Million Seniors play golf in the US and spend on average each year some $9,300,000, in the golf industry and represent (54%) of all members at private country clubs (Source USGA 2011). For generations golf has been one of great tradition! Our family has enjoyed golf for many years, and always enjoyed the traditions being handed down in the game, so it is only natural to show appreciation to our Seniors. We talk about tradition! We all know the fabric of the game is the tradition we and the media play out each day. It s the Masters, The US Open, The British Open and The PGA. It s the people like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Bryon Nelson, Babe Zaharies, Pat Bradley, Mickey Wright, Nancy Lopez and many others who made a tradition in golf. This Memorial Day week, millions of golfers and their families will be inspired to help us so we can thank the millions of Seniors who have shaped the game, our lives and the United States of America. We are asking all golfers to donate $ 1.00 per round during National Senior Appreciation Golf Week The 1 st Annual National Senior Appreciation Golf Week will be 3

4 held nationwide the week of Memorial Day week 5/19 5/26/2014.The program enlists public, private and corporation to raise funds for our foundation by asking players to donate $ 1.00 every time they tee it up during the week. Ideas to help market the event: Post our posters throughout the club. Make sure staff is aware of the program and asks players to donate when they check in. Place donation containers to the register Set up a Seniors Day Golf Tournament with silent auction. Donate $ 1.00 for every lesson which is given during the week Consider getting members of private club to have their companies donate to the event. Use social media like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin to promote the week. Send press releases to your local media. Promote the event on your website.
