2 ABOUT THE SUSAN G. KOMEN HOUSTON GOLF CLASSIC: The 4th Annual Susan G. Komen Houston Golf Classic will take place on Monday, May 15th at Champions Golf Club with Tammy Howell chairing this event for the second year. The event will consist of a great day of golf, special contests and celebration as we all join together to raise additional funds for breast cancer research, education, screening, treatment and support services. Komen Houston continues its commitment to stand on the front lines with those battling breast cancer throughout the Greater Houston Area and surrounding counties. As the need for services in our community increases, the need for additional fundraising dollars also increases. As a supporter of the Golf Classic, your dollars will be going to support our national and local community grants program serving underserved populations. I m so pleased to be chairing the event at Champions. I have been raising money for the Komen foundation for many years. I ran the Rally for a Cure tournament for the CWGA (Champions Women s Golf Association) for several years. Ironically enough, after spending all of these years working for this great cause, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of I underwent 26 weeks of chemo, surgery and six weeks of radiation. I m still undergoing physical therapy at MD Anderson as a result from the radiation. I ve been playing golf for 16 years now. I m a five time ladies Club Champion here at Champions Golf Club.
