3 Overview Over the past 25 years, the Portland Golf Show has become the Northwest s longest-running consumer golf show, and one of the best-attended and most wellregarded consumer golf expos in the country. Last year s show continued to provide Rose City consumers with the kinds of unbeatable values, giveaways and other incentives that have made the Portland Golf Show a fixture on the regional golf calendar for more than two decades. Over 9,000 attendees packed the hall at the Oregon Convention Center, a strong sign of the ongoing and still increasing support for golf in general, and the golf show specifically, among Oregon s golfing community. Last year s golfer s paradise included hundreds of namebrand drivers, irons, putters, wedges, golf bags, shoes, apparel and accessories at the season s lowest prices, a massive indoor driving range lined with representatives of the game s biggest manufacturers, PGA professionals giving free lessons to all attendees, fun skills contests, incredible enter-to-win prize opportunities, and up to six free rounds of golf for every attendee throughout the weekend. In addition, the Kids Day feature brought a significant increase in attendance by junior golfers and their families, who benefited from free rounds, free clubs, free lessons, free play on show games, special contests for junior golfers and youth-specific programming on the show s main stage. Owners and promoters Varsity Golf Shows once again marketed the show via a $150,000 media campaign that included advertisements in print, television and radio, onsite broadcasts during popular morning news programs, plus appearances and interviews by show organizers. In addition, blasts by local golf courses and other companies, plus a significant social media campaign, helped promote the show to new audiences. The 2018 Portland Golf Show was made possible by the support of its sponsors, the volunteers who have given their time to the event over the years, the involvement of the exhibitors and enthusiasm of the golfing public.
