RESIDUAL RATING L M H SEVERITY RATING L M H INITIAL IF ALL IN PLACE Staff : Adults/Child ratio Supervised Golf Session must be minimum level 1 coach with a level 2 coach on-site All Coaches must be CRB Checked o Golf Coaching Session 1:16 with Level 2 coach or Level 1 coach with Level 2 coach on-site o Supervised Golf Session 1:30 with 2 coaches or 1 coach & 1 qualified teacher If no min level 1 qualification or no level 2 on site no golf session If staff may be working alone they must refer to this in the Event Specific Risk Assessment This generic risk assessment identifies the common hazards control measures associated with this type of activity.
2 Supervision of sessions: Playing on course without coach Indoor Play Area: Debris on floor surface, Wet area, equipment on outer area Registration: School to register all participants & make coach aware of any health issues/injuries Equipment used at Session: Unfit or damaged equipment. People falling over equipment Injury Prevention: Unsafe practice leading to injury Injury / health risks Injury, e.g. slips, trips, falls Injury, e.g. slips, trips, falls volunteers Identify key safety points with the group prior to the session through a full health & safety briefing Coach to conduct checks to surface playing area prior to session to ensure area is fit for play Remove or mark off any unsafe areas School to hold all pupil/participant information have access to it through out the session Check equipment before use remove if unsafe Remove any equipment that may interfere with the session/ cordon off a safe area. Pack away equipment after use. Ensure all participants are wearing appropriate footwear Check for injuries that participants are not wearing jewellery Medical check before each session, e.g. asthma inhaler check This generic risk assessment identifies the common hazards control measures associated with this type of activity.
3 Falls & Collisions: Lack of space, excess equipment, overcrowding, lack of understing of rules Verbally brief participants on rules/safety points Ensure good condition of surface participant control First Aider first aid kit on site at all times Safety zone away from walls Equipment removed/cordoned off This generic risk assessment identifies the common hazards control measures associated with this type of activity.
4 Risk of Fire: Fire hazards/exits blocked Child protection: Child safety issues arising due to poor child protection Dangers of golf: Hit by golf balls, Inadequate/ unqualified coaching supervision Dog Faeces/ stray dogs: Owners not removing faeces Dogs interfering with coaching sessions asphyxiation Children / young people Golf pro/school staff aware of evacuation procedure of fire exits. Group to meet outside of building in event of fire Staff aware of evacuation procedure fire exits Exits maintained by venue staff Group to meet outside of building in event of fire Member of school staff to present at session at all times Activity Sheffield child protection policy to be followed at all times All golf pros/casual/ school to be CRB checked to an enhanced level Pupils told of rules prior to session All coaching to be carried out facing trees All sessions to be lead by qualified coaches Coaches to adhere to PGA coaching guidelines at all times Staff to be responsible for removing faeces/stray dogs from the coaching session If dog interferes with the session, children to be taken inside until the dog has been removed Faeces to be removed prior to session starting This generic risk assessment identifies the common hazards control measures associated with this type of activity.
