2 TEAM PLAY COMPETITION Overview The Team Play Champinships, spnsred by the Wmen s Nine Hle Glf Assciatin (WNHGA), are held in August r September f each year after the area Team Play cmpetitins have been cncluded. The divisin winners in each area are invited t the champinships t determine the area champins and the verall WNHGA Team Play Champins. Team Play Descriptin Team Play cmpetitin is a series f fur-ball strke play cmpetitins played between participating clubs in the same gegraphic area - ne rund f play at each club. There are three flights per club, ne team fr each flight (1-2 players). The better net ball f a team (grss minus pps) is the scre used fr each hle played. Divisin Cmpetitin One cmpetitin is held at each participating club in each divisin nce a year. Each participating club is required t send a minimum f ne flight t every rund f play. Failure t d s will result in disqualificatin frm Team Play fr the remainder f the year. There is n requirement that each club have a full field f six players. It is a requirement nly that each participating club cmpete in each event. Player Eligibility All players must be members f WNHGA and must have a fully established 18 Hle index with 10- runds psted. These 10 games must have been played and psted within the past 24-mnth perid prir t the Handicap Revisin Index date fr the game she is scheduled t play. If a player is a member f mre than ne club, she may represent nly the club designated as her hme curse. Player Eligibilty Reprt fr each player MUST be received by the Hst Team Play Captain n later than the entry deadline. It is the respnsibility f the Team Play Captain t check that the entry frm and eligibility infrmatin is crrect. Instructins fr Players in Team Play See Team Play Player Respnsibilities in this sectin fr specific respnsibilities f the player participating in Team Play. Play Each flight frm the participating club is cmpsed f ne r tw players wh make up a team. The scre is derived frm the better net ball f the team. If there is nly ne player in a flight, ne f her club members may accmpany that individual in the cart. She may nt play and she must stay in the cart at all times. The nn-player must be listed n the entry frm. (Nte: the hst club may elect t waive cart fees fr nn-players.) Sectin 10: Team Play 2 December 2018

3 Because the game is fur-ball (better net ball), a member f the twsme may pick up her ball when it is bvius that her partner is ging t make the better net scre. Hwever, upn picking up, the twsme side may be subject t the pssibility f being disqualified (receiving a zer pint) in case the ther member f the twsme is disqualified during r after the rund due t a USGA ruling. If a player is disqualified frm play, in rder t maintain pace f play, she will be disqualified frm the pint f infractin thrugh the end f the rund and she may nt cntinue t play and may nt leave the cart t give advice. Her scre(s) frm previus hles may cunt (USGA Rule 33-7). If players f the team pick up n the same hle, the team will be disqualified and receive zer pints fr their flight. The remaining teams in that flight will be awarded pints as if the disqualified team cmpleted the cmpetitin. See Team Scring in this sectin. The fursme playing tgether is made up f tw teams frm different clubs and frm different flights. Example: flight ne frm ne club plays with flight tw r three frm anther club, depending n the schedule prepared by the Team Play divisin captain. See TP Frm 1: Scheduling Sheets. All players must be aware f the pace f play recmmendatins fr the curse. Their screcard may indicate the time the flag shuld be in the cup fr each hle. The Turnament Cmmittee may appint a marshal fr each rund wh will help maintain the pace (generally the hst Team Play captain). If a fursme vilates the pace f play guidelines, they may be penalized. See WNHGA.cm>Glf Events>Turnament Prtcl. Member Club Team Play Cmpetitin Definitin The Turnament Cmmittee is made up f the Team Play captains and Team Play divisin captain. Hereinafter, the wrds Turnament Cmmittee will be used when the text refers t these individuals. Frmat The fllwing frmat is t be used fr Team Play in each gegraphic area. Each area may cnsist f ne, tw r three divisins, with at least three r mre clubs in each. Each area may decide n the number f divisins they want. This shuld be decided at the area captains calendar meeting in the fall. This infrmatin shuld be given t the WNHGA Team Play directr as sn as pssible. Clubs within an area may be rtated between divisins each year. Each club may send six r eight payers, tw in each f the three flights. Nte: a flight may cntain ne player rather than tw. Each club will designate a Team Play captain and c-captain. T qualify as a Team Play captain r c-captain, the WNHGA Team Play directr must be given these names n later than the Annual Meeting f the previus year. Sectin 10: Team Play 3 December 2018

4 Each divisin will designate a divisin captain. The divisin captain shuld be a Team Play captain. It is suggested that this psitin rtate between the clubs. One rund is held at participating clubs in each divisin every year. The Team Play captain r c-captain accmpanies the team t each rund t d the scring. When all the runds have been cmpleted and there is a divisin winner, the divisin captain is t ntify the WNHGA Team Play directr. Send the infrmatin n a cpy f TP Frm 6: Seasn Summary Scresheet. Divisin winners frm each area will cmpete fr the area champinship at the Team Play Champinships. This date will be published in the WNHGA Yearbk and at WNHGA.cm>Calendar. The Team Play Champinships are t be cnducted under USGA s The Rules f Glf. Dates fr Team Play Each club selects its wn date t hst Team Play. These dates will be cnfirmed at the area calendar meetings in the fall. Team Play at the divisin level shuld start n earlier than April and must be cmpleted befre July 31, t qualify fr the Team Play Champinships. The WNHGA Team Play directr must apprve any exceptin t this date. In selecting dates, cnsideratin shuld be given t climatic cnditins f the clubs invlved. Rainedut runds must be rescheduled at the same club. The decisin t cancel a turnament must be made at the lcal level by the club s glf pr, Team Play divisin captain, and the Team Play captains frm the participating clubs. A vte f the Team Play captains shuld be taken with the majrity vte prevailing. The club s glf pr des nt nrmally cancel a turnament unless advised by the grunds superintendent that the curse is unplayable. Starting Time A shtgun start is always preferred, but when cnditins dictate therwise, tee times may be used. Team Clrs Each club shuld select a clr, r clrs, t represent their club. These clrs shuld be wrn fr all Team Play cmpetitins. Club Disqualificatin If a club ttally withdraws frm future Team Play cmpetitins r if a club des nt shw up fr the rund prir t the start f the rund, then that club is disqualified frm Team Play cmpetitin fr the remainder f the year. Flights Index distributins fr each f the three flights will be determined by WNHGA n an annual basis and will be annunced and distributed n later than the WNHGA Spring Area Meetings. 5 If a club has n players t fill a flight, a member may play in a lwer-handicapped flight using the highest index number allwed fr that flight. N player may play in a flight using an index number higher than the flight range (i.e. a player frm secnd r third flight may mve up but may nly use the maximum index allwed fr the flight in which they will be playing); nr may any player play in a flight where the index range is higher than the player s current index (i.e. a player frm first r secnd flight may nt play in third flight). A flight may cnsist f nly ne player. It is als permissible t nt fill a flight. When a flight is nt filled, a zer is given t that team fr that flight. See Team Scring in this sectin. Screcards Team play screcards shuld be prepared n the cmputer; by the Team Play Captain r designee, including the Pr shp. Hwever, the hst Team Play captain must check them. The hst Team Play captain is respnsible fr the accuracy f the Team Play screcards. It is strngly advised that the Hst Team Play Captain cnfirm their slpe and curse rating at the USGA Natinal Curse Rating and Slpe Database: If the Team Play Captain needs the assistance f the pr, she must make sure that the pr is thrughly familiar with the WNHGA methd f ppping screcards. The handicapped hles will be determined by the nine hles being played that day (frnt r back). Further assistance may be btained frm the Team Play divisin captain r the WNHGA Team Play directr. Infrmatin regarding hw t pp a screcard can be fund in this sectin, Exhibit 5 r n Slpe Ratings Teams are t be selected using the index numbers within their flights. On away curses, handicaps will be calculated using the slpe rating f the hst club curse. Cst N green fees are t be charged. Carts are mandatry. Cart fees will be charged t all visiting players, regardless f their participatin in a cart prgram at their hme curse. Players will als pay fr their meals. Markers A marker must be prvided fr each fursme in all Team Play cmpetitins. It is strngly suggested that the hst club Team Play captain nt be a marker, as she has ther duties. See Sectin 7: Markers in this manual, and TP Frm 3: Marker Sheets. Team Scring The Team Play captains are respnsible fr scring. See the Scring Sheet Instructins in this sectin. The Team Play captains will check the screcards and pst the results fr each team n the TP Frms 4 r 5: Scresheet, depending n the number f flights playing. The number f clubs scheduled t play determines the maximum number f pints awarded. If three clubs were scheduled t play, three pints wuld be the maximum awarded t the team with the lwest net scre. If six clubs were scheduled t play, six pints wuld be the maximum number awarded t the lwest net. Sectin 10: Team Play 5 December 2018

6 As an example, the fllwing scres might be used in a fur-club Team Play rund. By Flight: Lwest Net Scre 4 pints 2 nd Lwest 3 pints 3 rd Lwest 2 pints Highest Net 1 pint All flights d nt have t have the same number f teams cmpeting. Fr example, 1 st flight may have six teams scheduled t cmpete, thus awarding pints as 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. One r mre teams may nt be able t fill all flights. If 2 nd flight has nly five teams scheduled t cmpete, the pints wuld be awarded as 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Line-up Changes: NO Line-up change is allwed 48 hurs prir t the team play date except change t the alternate fr the specific flight. All teams shuld prvide alternates fr each flight as best they can. If n alternate is prvided, in case f emergency, the team may subsitutue a player frm the Captain's flight prvided that her respective handicap index is apprpriate. Otherwise the flight will nly have 1 player. Cancellatins: If a scheduled club withdraws less than 48 hurs prir t the cmpetitin, they wuld receive zer pints, but the rest f the pints awarded wuld nt be reduced by ne. Please nte that in cases f unavidable circumstances (i.e. snw strm, physical accident, etc.) the cmmittee may elect t award a missing team r player ne pint, thus nt penalizing that team as heavily. Lwest Net Scre 2nd Lwest 3rd Lwest 4th Lwest 5th Lwest Team that withdrew 6 pints 5 pints 4 pints 3 pints 2 pints 0 pints N-shws: If an entire team is a n-shw, the club will be disqualified fr the remainder f the year. Althugh the pints are nt reduced fr the day they are a n-shw, fr future runds the pints are reduced t the number f teams cmpeting, in this case 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. (See USGA Rule 33-7.) Disputed Scre: If the players disagree abut a rule r the players and marker disagree, a decisin will be made by the Turnament Cmmittee. All players in the grup and the marker must g befre the Cmmittee fr a final ruling. The players and the marker must nt sign the screcards r the marker sheets. The Turnament Cmmittee s decisin will be final. If the Turnament Cmmittee cannt reach an agreement, then the matter shuld be referred t the WNHGA Team Play directr as sn as pssible (within 48 hurs). Screcards that are being cntested shuld nt be signed by anyne. If a rund is cntested, the results will be annunced at a later time. Sectin 10: Team Play 6 December 2018

7 Minus r Zer Net Scres Minus numbers are allwed. If a player entitled t tw handicap strkes n a par-3 hle scres a tw, the net scre wuld be zer. If that same player scred a hle-in-ne, the net scre wuld be a minus 1. Team Tie Scre If there is a tie fr first place by tw teams (see example abve fr six clubs), add the pints fr first place (6) t the pints fr secnd place (5) and divide the ttal by tw (5 ½). The tw clubs tied fr first place wuld each receive 5 ½ pints. Secnd and third place ties wuld divide 9 by tw fr 4 ½ pints fr each team. This frmula applies fr ties in all places. If there is a threeway tie, add the pints tgether and divide by three. Cumulative Scring A cumulative ttal f the pints fr each club f all the runds is kept by each Team Play captain and Team Play divisin captain, and entered n TP Frm 6: Seasn Summary Scresheet. On cmpletin f the runds in a divisin, the club with the highest number f cmbined pints f all flights added tgether will be first, secnd highest will be secnd, etc. If the teams tie at the divisin level after all runds are cmplete, the fllwing frmat is t be used: 1. Select and get permissin t play at a neutral curse equidistant frm each club. 2. If clubs are still tied after playing at the neutral curse, the better net ball scres fr each flight f each club are added tgether. The club with the lwer ttal f cmbined net scres is the divisin champin. 3. If there shuld still be a tie after better net ball scres fr each flight are added tgether, the tie will be brken by the cmbined team ttal f the better net scres f each flight n the tw hardest hles (card ff). If there is still a tie after the tw net hardest hles are added, cntinue t add net scres f the hardest handicapped hles until the tie is brken. Cmpletin f Team Play The club with the mst verall pints in its divisin, after all the runds have been played, is the divisin winner and qualifies t play in the Team Play Champinships. Nte that Divisinal Cmpetitin is nt clsed until all runds are cmpleted and the results have been annunced. Upn cmpletin f all runds, each divisin captain is t ntify the WNHGA Team Play directr f the divisin winner. This shuld be dne befre July 31 (unless the WNHGA Team Play directr apprves an exceptin t this date) using TP Frm 6: Seasn Summary Scresheet. Area Champinships In additin t cmpeting fr the verall WNHGA Champinship, the divisin winners in each area cmpete fr the area champinships at the Team Play Champinships. Team Play Champinships Scring The net system f scring is used fr the Team Play Champinships. The better net ball scres fr each flight f each club are added tgether. 8 Tie Breaker fr Team Play Champinships Ties will be brken by the cmbined team ttal f the better net ball scres f each flight n the tw hardest hles. Team Play Player Respnsibilities Team play participants must have their name tags n their glf bags. Only ne visible name tag is necessary. It is extremely imprtant that each player is fully aware that Team Play cmpetitin is played under USGA s The Rules f Glf. All players shuld read USGA Rule 23 pertaining t fur-ball strke play. Teams participating in the Team Play may nt practice n the turnament curse the day f the event. (Participants may use the practice facilities.) Distance Measuring Devices: (a) During a turnament, any distance measuring device may be used fr measuring distance nly and MUST be SILENT at all times. Once the device makes a sund, the penalty is disqualificatin. (b) If a player uses the measuring device fr anything ther than measuring distance, the penalty will be 2 strkes fr the 1st ffense and disqualificatin fr a subsequent ffense. Each Team Play Captain shuld prvide her players with the rating and slpe fr the curse they are playing s they can check their handicaps and pps This culd be dne by giving each f yur players a cpy f the cmpleted entry frm. The player is respnsible t knw her crrect handicap fr the curse she is playing and t ensure that it is entered crrectly n her screcard. Any errrs shuld be immediately brught t the Turnament Cmmittee fr crrectin(s). Check yur pps fr each hle n yur screcard befre yu start play. The Hst Team Play Captain is respnsible fr ensuring that any crrectins needed n the day f cmpetitin are accurate. Each fursme will be assigned a marker. Befre the player strikes her ball, she must make sure that the marker knws that she is ging t hit. Upn reaching the green, the marker will check with each player t see hw many strkes have been taken at that pint. She will check ttal scres fr the hle when putting has been cmpleted. If there is a questin regarding a regulatin n hw t play a ball that cannt be recnciled by the player, her partner, and fellw cmpetitrs, the player will play tw balls frm the pint f questin, using bth methds f play, keeping scre n bth balls. Upn cmpletin f the game, the player must nt sign her screcard and, alng with the entire fursme and marker, must take the disputed screcard(s) t the Turnament Cmmittee t get the prper ruling. Once a ruling has been made, the player will sign the screcard and marker sheet. All players shuld read USGA Rule 20.1c: Dubt as t Prcedure. Sectin 10: Team Play 8 December 2018

9 If a player is experiencing difficulty and may nt help her partner with her scre, she may tell the marker that she is picking up n a hle. This will speed up play. The scre she will pst n her screcard wuld be her mst likely scre fr that hle. The mst likely scre may nt exceed the player s Equitable Strke Cntrl (ESC) limit. Nte: If a player is disqualified frm play, in rder t maintain pace f play, she will be disqualified frm the pint f infractin thrugh the end f the rund. Her scre(s) frm previus hles may cunt USGA Rule 23. The player is respnsible fr putting her grss hle-by-hle scre n her screcard. Chse the better net ball (minus pps ) between the partners and place the scre n the screcard in the apprpriate bx. Circle the grss scre used. Enter nly the better net scres n the line indicated. (D nt enter net scres fr each player.) See TP Exhibit 6: Sample Screcards. Errrs f additin and subtractin will be checked by, and are the respnsibility f, the Turnament Cmmittee (USGA Rule 24). At the end f play, check all screcards with the marker s sheet (hle-by-hle). The participants will sign and attest the screcards and marker sheet t verify the accuracy f the hle-by-hle scres. If everyne agrees, the marker will sign the marker sheet and take the marker sheet and screcards t the Turnament Cmmittee. D nt sign yur screcard if there is a dispute that needs t be taken t the Turnament Cmmittee. If the player signs her screcard at the end f the rund and the handicap indicated n her screcard is higher than that t which she is entitled, she is disqualified. Otherwise, the scre stands. 10 WNHGA Team Play Directr Duties The WNHGA Team Play directr shall: attend the Spring Area Meetings and meet with all the Team Play captains t discuss the upcming seasn s cmpetitins; cnfirm all team play dates in the areas and prvide the Team Play captains with the names, addresses, addresses and telephne numbers f the divisin captains, as well as thse f the ther Team Play captains and c-captains; prvide the Team Play captains with cpies f their Team Play schedule; Prvide decisins and answer any rules questins pertaining t cmpetitin that have been brught t the attentin f the directr. The WNHGA Bard f Directrs may need t be cnsulted when necessary; send letters t the Team Play divisin captains requesting that each ne frward the master TP Frm 6: Seasn Summary Scresheet with the ttal pints earned during the seasn. Include the deadline the frms must be submitted t the directr. These frms shuld be submitted immediately upn cmpletin f yur divisin play; assure that all Team Play cmpetitins are cmpleted by July 31 in rder fr member clubs t qualify fr the Team Play Champinships; rganize and plan the annual WNHGA Team Play Champinships. The Bard f Directrs shall establish the site and date f this turnament. The turnament shall be held in August r the first tw weeks f September; receive the cmpleted TP Frm 2: Team Play Entry Frm fr the Team Play Champinships and prepare the pairings, screcards, listing f lcal rules, and scresheets; attend the Annual Meeting and reprt n the year s activities. Keep written recrds; and if cntacted by a Team Play divisin captain r Team Play captain regarding any prblem and it cannt be reslved, request that they the prblem t yu and yu will take it t the WNHGA Bard f Directrs. 11 Team Play Divisin Captain Duties The divisin captain is the liaisn between the individual clubs in her divisin and the WNHGA Team Play directr. Divisin captains shuld be ne f the Team Play captains and make every attempt t attend every cmpetitin. The Team Play divisin captains will keep current recrds f club Team Play captains (names, addresses, addresses and phne numbers). In additin t being familiar with USGA Rules 23 and 24 which refer t fur-ball strke play as well as Cmmittee duties, Team Play divisin captains will: assure that all the Team Play captains have all the current frms necessary fr Team Play, i.e., TP Frm 1, Team Play Scheduling Frm fr 3 flights: TP Frm 4, Team Play Scresheet fr 3 flights and TP Frm 5, Seasn Summary Scresheet; cmplete the apprpriate TP Frm 1: Scheduling Sheet fr her divisin, based n the number f clubs and flights, and distribute t her Team Play captains; Verify the slpe and curse rating fr each club using the USGA Natinal Curse Rating and Slpe Database: when the hst club sends yu a cpy f their Invitatin Letter and Entry Frm t be cmpleted. Yu may want t remind them f this. Review each club s cmpleted entry frm that they are t send t yu. have the current Seasn Summary Scresheet filled in with all the Team Play dates and clubs participating in her divisin; have available at each Team Play cmpetitin the Team Play Manual, USGA s The Rules f Glf and USGA s Decisins n the Rules f Glf. Team Play divisin captain and Team Play captains are the Turnament Cmmittee (decisin makers); tgether with Team Play captains, d the scring fr each turnament and keep the master cpy f the scres n the Seasn Summary Scresheet; appint ne r tw Team Play captains t check that the handicaps and pps n the screcards are crrect fr each player (USGA Rules 6-2b and 31-7); retain a cpy f the marker sheets (Sectin 7:Markers in this manual), the Team Play Scresheets and the riginal screcards fr each flight. These shuld be kept fr each cmpetitin and retained until the Team Play Champinships are cncluded; verify that all scres have been prperly psted after each cmpetitin. In the event f a discrepancy, ntify the apprpriate Team Play captain fr crrective actin; assure all Team Play cmpetitin is cmpleted by July 31 (unless the WNHGA Team Play directr has apprved an exceptin t the cmpletin date); assist the Team Play captains, when requested, in any aspect f Team Play; immediately after cnclusin f the divisin cmpetitin, send the name f the winning club alng with a cpy f the Seasn Summary Scresheet t the WNHGA Team Play directr; call r unreslved issues t the WNHGA Team Play directr within 48 hurs fr final reslutin; and Sectin 10: Team Play 11 December 2018

12 participate in any discussin r ruling necessary t arbitrate a prtest, such as any disputes regarding the scres r hw the hles were played, etc. In this case, d nt have players sign screcards. Submit the prblem t the Turnament Cmmittee. If n reslutin can be reached, cntact the WNHGA Team Play directr. Team Play Captain Duties In additin t being familiar with USGA Rules 23 and 24 which refer t fur-ball strke play as well as Cmmittee duties, the Team Play captains are respnsible fr the fllwing: Fr each player listed n TP Frm 2: Team Play Entry Frm, print, scan r attach a bi-mnthly TP Exhibit 2: GHIN.cm Revisin Index Reprt that is available n the 1 st and 15 th f each mnth. By frmula, it will autmatically cnvert it t the 9-hle handicap index, and cnvert it t the player s 9-hle handicap accrding t the slpe f the hst club. If yu have a player playing ut f her flight, highlight the name and index number indicating the maximum number fr that flight. Fr example, if a player s index is 16.5 and she will be playing in first flight (maximum index is 14.9), she is playing up frm her actual handicap index and will play t an index f Therefre yu will need t recrd her handicap as Sectin 10: Team Play 12 December 2018

Review the Hst Club Team Play Guidelines in this sectin if the Team Play event is at yur hme curse. After play, btain a cpy f yur players screcards, adjust fr ESC and pst.hst Club Team Play Guidelines Cntact the club s glf pr with the date f yur Team Play event as sn as pssible. Advise her/him f the number f players and Team Play captains that will be participating, i.e. 32 Team Play participants and eight Team Play captains. Yu may r may nt have tw players frm each club in the captains flight, but yu shuld plan fr them. There can be n mre than tw players per club in the captains flight. Nte: players in captains flight need nt be captains r c-captains. Make arrangements with the catering manager as early as pssible, preferably at least 45 days befre the Team Play date but n fewer than 30 days. Yur cntact with the catering manager shuld include at least the fllwing: The apprximate number f participants attending; Date t finalize the meal cunt; The price f a cntinental breakfast and lunch; and The time breakfast shuld be ready and when lunch shuld be served. After yu have determined yur Team Play players, ask the ther members f yur club t be markers and sptters. Yu will need ne marker per grup. If yu cannt get sufficient markers frm yur nine-hle grup, cntact yur 18-hle ladies t see if they can assist yu. If yu are still unable t get sufficient markers, cntact the ther clubs in yur area and ask if they can prvide sme markers. Additinally, ne f the ther Team Play captains may be willing t mark. The handlers shuld be prvided with an alphabetical listing f all the participants (by club) and their starting hles (TP Exhibit 4: Alpha List). Arrange t have tw members frm the hst club handle the registratin desk. Prvide each flight with their screcard and any lcal rules when they register. D nt put this infrmatin n the carts. The players must have it at registratin. The hst Team Play captain, 30 days prir t the date f the Team Play event, shuld send ut a letter (TP Exhibit 1: Sample Hst Club Letter) t each f the ther clubs in her divisin, and enclse r attach: TP Frm 2: Team Play Entry Frm, with the index date t be used,alng with the NCRDB curse rating and slpe, lcal rules, and The letter must specifically state the time f registratin and breakfast, the starting time fr play, address f the curse (fr GPS purpses) and the cst f breakfast, lunch and cart. 15 Prir t the start f Team Play (a few days befre the event is best), have a player experienced in marking brief the markers n their duties. See Sectin 7: Instructin Sheet fr Markers in this manual. After yu have received the Team Play Entry Frms frm the ther Team Play clubs and made the hle assignments, prepare a TP Exhibit 4: Alpha List by club, with the players names arranged in alphabetical rder (within club) and the hles n which they will start. The markers assigned t each fursme may als be listed n this frm. Prvide this list t the glf-bag handlers, registratin desk and pr shp. If yur pr shp des nt make the cart assignment cards fr yu (cards displaying players names and starting hles), yu will have t make them yurself (TP Exhibit 7:Cart Signs). Prepare the screcards. (TP Exhibit 6: Sample Screcards). A cmputer prgram may be used t prepare the Team Play screcards. Hwever, the screcards must be checked by the Team Play captain and her Cmmittee. This is t ensure that the screcards are prperly ppped. If yur club pr prepares the screcards, she/he shuld be advised that the screcards must be ppped in accrdance with the WNHGA instructins n ppping cards (TP Exhibit 5: Ppping a Screcard). Prepare a screcard fr each twsme shwing the tw players names, club, GHIN numbers, flight, cnverted handicaps, starting hle and pps fr each hle (TP Exhibit 6: Sample Screcards). Highlight the starting hle. Players receive the ttal number f pps fr their cnverted handicaps unless that number exceeds par fr the curse. Then the player is allwed nly a ttal equal t par fr the curse, r the maximum accrding t the example f Ppping a Screcard (TP Exhibit 5). Give a cpy f the apprpriate screcards t the Team Play captains after scring has been cmpleted s they can pst the team scres. The Team Play divisin captain shall keep all riginal screcards until after the Team Play Champinships have been cmpleted. On the day f the Team Play event, either yur club s glf pr r Team Play captain shuld make a public annuncement welcming the players. It shuld include any special instructins (i.e. grund under repair, winter r summer rules, what t d with the screcards, lcal rules, etc.). The tee bxes that the players will be using shuld be indicated n screcards. Have a clipbard fr each marker. The clipbard shuld have the Instructin Sheet fr Markers (see Sectin 7: Markers in this manual), tw marker s scring sheets, a cpy f the lcal rules, and a pencil. The marker s scring sheets shuld cntain the players names, club names, flight numbers and starting hle, which shuld be highlighted. It is als suggested that a WNHGA Rules Bag Tag be attached t the clipbard and that the marker carry USGA s The Rules f Glf. When briefing the markers, make sure they understand that they are respnsible fr btaining the players signatures n the marker s sheet and n the screcards (unless in dispute). This is extremely imprtant because the screcard must agree with the marker s sheet since n changes can be made nce they are signed and returned t the Cmmittee (Team Play captains). 16 The lunchen tables may be set up by starting hle r by team. A separate table fr captain s flight and markers shuld als be set up. Arrange with the club s glf pr t prvide carts fr the markers at n charge. If markers have private carts, they shuld be encuraged t use them fr the Team Play event. Arrange fr an area fr the Team Play captains t use fr scring. Set up the table with the cmpleted TP Frm 6: Seasn Summary Scresheet, TP Frm 4 r 5: Team Play Scresheet and pencils. After play has been cmpleted, give cpies f the screcards and the Seasn Summary Scresheet t the Team Play captains and the riginal screcards, marker sheets, scresheet and Seasn Summary Scresheet t the divisin captain. If yur club prvides range balls at n charge t the players, arrange t have the balls available n the driving range as early as pssible. If yu are required t pay fr the range balls, yu may include it in the ttal cst fr yur Team Play event. If yur niner rganizatin wishes t absrb the cst, make arrangements with yur pr shp t bill yur grup. Usually the hst club Team Play captain des nt play in her event because she has many things t take care f after the game starts (i.e., setting up the lunchen tables, finalizing the cst t be paid t the pr shp and restaurant, etc.). Hwever, if yu d need t play n yur team, yu shuld arrange fr smene frm yur club t be in charge f these duties. Yu must nt be a marker. Scring Sheet Instructins The hst Team Play captain is respnsible fr the fllwing: After receipt f the TP Frm 2: Team Play Entry Frms, prepare the TP Frm 4 r 5: Team Play Scresheet, filling in: Name and GHIN number Club Index Cnverted handicap Have sufficient cpies f cmpleted Team Play Scresheets made fr each Team Play captain wh will be in the scring rm. Have pencils available fr all Team Play captains. Serve as the chair f the scring rm. Fill in the Team Play Scresheet after the screcards have been checked by the ther Team Play captains, adding: Better net ball scres Pints, bth in the rightmst clumn abve and in the summary table belw Review the pints with the Cmmittee and then transfer the pints t the Seasn Summary Scresheet. 17 Team Play captains are respnsible fr the fllwing: If the players disagree abut a rule r the players and marker disagree, a decisin will be made by the Turnament Cmmittee. All players in the grup and the marker must g befre the Cmmittee fr a final ruling. The players and the marker must nt sign the screcards r the marker sheets. The Turnament Cmmittee s decisin will be final. If the Turnament Cmmittee cannt reach an agreement, then the matter shuld be referred t the WNHGA Team Play directr as sn as pssible (within 48 hurs). Screcards that are being cntested shuld nt be signed by anyne. If a rund is cntested, the results will be annunced at a later time. Make sure that each player has signed her wn screcard, and that all players listed n a marker s sheet, as well as the marker herself, have signed the marker s sheet. Check that the pps are crrect n the screcards. Make sure that the screcards and markers sheets agree as t hle-by-hle scres. After the screcards have been prperly attested and signed, each Team Play captain takes a screcard frm anther club (nt hers), and checks it t make sure that the lwer net scre has been calculated crrectly and circled, and the circled scres have been added crrectly. She then initials the screcard. The Team Play captains advise their team members if a discrepancy is fund. The discrepancy shuld be explained t the members as discreetly as pssible. After each screcard has been checked by tw team captains, it shuld be passed t the divisin Team Play captain wh maintains the master cpy f the Team Play Scresheet. The divisin captain (r her designee) enters the better net ball scre fr each team nt the Team Play Scresheet. After all scres fr a flight have been entered, the scres are cnverted t pints as indicated belw. The divisin captain (r her designee) reviews the pints with all the Team Play captains befre adding them. The awarding f pints is based n relative better net ball scres. The team with the lwest better net ball scre in each flight is cnsidered the first-place winner in that flight and is awarded the maximum number f pints available fr that event. The number f pints in each flight depends n the number f teams scheduled t participate in that day s event. If six teams are scheduled, then first place in each flight receives 6 pints, etc. First Place. 18 If tw teams are tied in a flight, their pints are added tgether and divided by tw. In the example abve, if tw teams tie fr first, the first and secnd-place pints (6 and 5) are added tgether and divided by tw, giving 5 1/2. Each team wuld then receive 5 1/2 pints. If there is a three-way tie, a similar prcess is fllwed. If a club des nt have a team scheduled fr a flight, it receives zer pints fr that flight. The pints awarded fr that flight are reduced by ne. Nte: If a team withdraws frm a flight less than 48 hurs prir t tee time, arrives t late t start play with the rest f the teams, r is disqualified after play starts, that team receives zer pints fr that flight, but the pints are awarded t the remaining teams as if the withdrawn team had played. (Nte: the cmmittee may elect t award ne pint t a missing team when their absence is due t extenuating circumstances. Fr example, if a player, playing alne, is injured the night befre cmpetitin, in the spirit f friendly cmpetitin, the cmmittee may decide t award her a pint as if she had cmpeted. If a club des nt field at least ne team in each rund f play r if nne f its players arrive in time fr the start f a rund, the club is disqualified fr the rest f the team-play year. Teams encuntering difficulty arriving n time, due t unfreseen circumstances (snw, etc.), shuld call the hst Team Play captain. Thse members f the Turnament Cmmittee present at the hst club can then decide whether t delay start f play. Once all the pints have been assigned t each flight, transferred t the Pint Summary at the bttm f the Team Play Scresheet and added, transfer the ttal pints t the Seasn Summary Scresheet under the date and club at which the event was played. As each Team Play event is played, the Seasn Summary Scresheet is cpied by the Team Play divisin captain fr each Team Play captain and taken t the next Team Play site. If the Team Play divisin captain is absent, then it is the respnsibility f the hst club Team Play captain t ensure that the Seasn Summary Scresheet is available fr the Team Play captains in the scring rm. After the scring has been cmpleted, each Team Play captain takes a cpy f the screcards and the Seasn Summary Scresheet hme t her club and retains all material until the Team Play Champinships are cmpleted in August. The Team Play divisin captain retains all riginal screcards, riginal marker sheets, and the Seasn Summary Scresheet until after the Team Play Champinships are cmpleted. Nte that ALL USGA Rules f Glf and Handicap Rules apply t WNHGA events. USGA Definitins: Frms f Strke Play Fur-ball: In fur-ball strke play, tw cmpetitrs play as partners, each playing her wn ball. The lwer scre f the partners is the scre fr the hle. If ne partner fails t cmplete the play f a hle, there is n penalty. USGA Rule 31: Fur-Ball Strke Play ALL players and team play captains shuld be familiar with this rule USGA Rule 33: The Cmmittee ALL team play captains and divisin captains shuld be familiar with this rule USGA Rule 34: Decisins and Disputes ALL team play captains and divisin captains shuld be familiar with this rule USGA Rule 6-2b: In any rund f a handicap cmpetitin, the cmpetitr must ensure that his handicap is recrded n his scre card befre it is returned t the Cmmittee. If n handicap is recrded n his scre card befre it is returned (Rule 6-6b), r if the recrded handicap is higher than that t which he is entitled and this affects the number f strkes received, he is disqualified frm the handicap cmpetitin; therwise, the scre stands. Nte: USGA Rule 1: It is the player s respnsibility t verify her handicap and pps. Failure t reprt incrrect handicaps and/r pps will result in disqualificatin even if the event has clsed. USGA Rule 33-5: Scre card: In strke play, the Cmmittee must prvide each cmpetitr with a scre card cntaining the date and the cmpetitr s name, r in fursmes r fur-ball strke play, the cmpetitrs names. In strke play, the Cmmittee is respnsible fr the additin f scres and the applicatin f the handicap recrded n the screcard. In fur-ball strke play, the Cmmittee is respnsible fr recrding the better-ball scre fr each hle and in the prcess applying the handicaps recrded n the screcard, and adding the better-ball scres. USGA Rule 33-7: Disqualificatin Penalty; Cmmittee Discretin A penalty f disqualificatin may in exceptinal, individual cases be waived, mdified r impsed if the Cmmittee cnsiders such actin warranted. Nte: The WNHGA lcal rule states - If a player is disqualified frm play, and in rder t maintain pace f play, she will be disqualified frm the pint f infractin thrugh the end f the rund. 20 USGA Rule 34-3: Cmmittee s Decisin: In the absence f a referee, any dispute r dubtful pint n the rules must be referred t the Cmmittee, whse decisin is final. If the Cmmittee cannt cme t a decisin, it may refer the dispute r dubtful pint t the Rules f Glf Cmmittee f the United States Glf Assciatin, whse decisin is final. If the dispute r dubtful pint has nt been referred t the Rules f Glf Cmmittee, the player r players may request that an agreed statement be referred thrugh a duly authrized representative f the Cmmittee t the Rules f Glf Cmmittee fr an pinin as t the crrectness f the decisin given. The reply will be sent t this authrized representative. The USGA Handicap Manual, Sectin 9-3: Assignment f Strkes: If handicap strkes are applied t a grss scre; the Cmmittee is respnsible fr the applicatin f the Curse Handicap recrded n the screcard. Fr frmats in which handicap strkes are used n specific hles, the Cmmittee shall publish a table indicating the rder f hles at which handicap strkes are t be given r received (The Rules f Glf, 33-4). Except as nted therwise in this sectin, a player receiving handicap strkes shall take them in the rder assigned n the screcard. Fr example, a player receiving three strkes takes them n the first, secnd and third strke hles (als referred t as handicapped hles ). WNHGA strngly recmmends that all WNHGA members read and be familiar with The Rules f Glf, keep a cpy in their glf bag fr ready reference. 36 Ppping Screcards Accrding t WNHGA Rules Pps are the small dts r checks placed n the screcard which shuld add up t the player s handicap allwance (handicap strkes) fr a specified game. Once the apprpriate handicap has been determined fr the curse t be played, pps can be distributed as described in the fllwing examples. In each case, start the prcess by dividing the nine-hle handicap by nine. Player 1: Handicap f 18 divided by nine equals tw. Each hle gets tw pps. Player 2: Handicap f 6 is nt enugh pps t divide by nine. Give ne pp t six hles in the rder f the handicap strke allcatin n the screcard. Player 3: Handicap f 14 divided by nine equals ne pp fr each f the nine hles, with a remainder f five pps. The remaining five pps are t be given in the rder f the handicap strke allcatin. Player 4: Handicap f 35 divided by nine equals three with a remainder f eight pps. Start by giving three pps t all nine hles. In this example, please nte yu cannt give mre pps than par. When awarding the remaining eight pps, nce yu cme t the par 3 at hle #3, even thugh there are pps remaining t be allcated, yu must stp. Yu cannt skip ver the par 3 and cntinue n t hle #5.
