2 Golf I n 1955, sixty people met in a barn adjacent to the small village of Whitford, Pennsylvania to discuss the idea of dedicating 168 acres of land for the sole purpose of sharing the sporting experience with neighbors in the community. Now, 50 years later, the renowned Whitford Country Club is host to some of the most precious golf experiences in Chester County, and has become a home for our member families to share in their affinity for sport among a community of friends. Nestled in the heart of Chester County, Whitford Country Club has provided golfers at all levels with some of the most prestigious holes in the area. The championship layout at Whitford was designed by distinguished course architect William Gordon who also designed such well-known Pennsylvania courses as Sunnybrook and Saucon Valley. Whitford will challenge the most accomplished golfers while still offering the younger family members every conceivable learning scenario. Membership opportunities are historically limited. 3 Racquet Sports F or the racquet enthusiast, Whitford is a player s year-round family retreat. During spring, summer and fall the tennis courts are active with competitive team matches, private and group instruction for men, women and children at all skill levels and round robbins just for the fun of it. Overlooking the beautiful acreage of Whitford, the tennis house is complete with merchandise and a viewing deck and is a popular spot for team lunches and evening socials. Night play is more popular than ever with the recent installation of additional court lighting. Paddle tennis season begins in the fall and continues throughout the winter months. Members are provided an opportunity to participate in inter-club paddle leagues. These leagues are expanding each year for men, women and juniors. There are many event opportunities for new members, or members new to racquet sports to join in or simply observe. Come be a part of the action. It s impossible to visit without making some new friends! No matter the time of year, I have found many ways to enjoy racquet sports at Whitford. Whether it s tennis or paddle season, I love the social events, the variety of clinics offered, and the commradery of playing on a team. The gorgeous setting is the icing on the cake. Sherry Buch

4 Aquatics O ur affinity for sport extends to an impressive aquatics program designed for the enjoyment of members of all ages young and old alike. The Whitford Waves swim team provides younger members the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of competition while building valuable skill sets. A wading pool is conveniently located for the optimal enjoyment of parents and younger children, while a pool snack bar offers convenient menu alternatives for both lunch and dinner. Honoring our heritage, Whitford truly is a place for families at play. A wholesome relaxing experience, offering programs for all levels of ability.
