2 2013 GOLF SOCIETY PACKAGES This welcoming golf club is set in over 200 acres of Hertfordshire s finest countryside, offering golfers of all abilities a truly memorable round of golf. Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, whose creativity and technical expertise can be felt on every hole, designed the course. Throughout the 6,615 yards of this par 72 course, water features, large bunkers, trees and expansive greens combine to offer a challenging, as well as a most enjoyable golfing experience. The front nine, which plays towards the small village of Mill Green itself, is both open and undulating, and by comparison the back nine plays directly towards Hertford and is noted for its narrow fairways which work their way through ancient woodland and large lakes. Descriptions of playing our signature holes by our resident Professional follow:- The 8th hole is the longest par 4 on the course and against the wind it is a monster. You must be right on the button with your tee shot to enable you to hit the green in two. The green itself is well protected by a lake to the right and plenty of bunkers to the left. A four here feels like a birdie. The 9th hole at Mill green is a short par 4 measuring 395 yards with the green overlooked by the clubhouse. With out of bounds left, thick rough and large bunkers on the right, a straight tee shot is important. The approach shot can be tricky as you have a picturesque lake to the right of the green, ready to catch any stray shots, and three guarding bunkers and out of bounds over the back. The green is very long and undulating so club selection is vital. The 14th hole is a long par five. At 531 yards it can be reached in two by long straight hitters, but laying up is a good decision. With out of bounds right you are forced to aim left where long grass and trees are waiting, so playing safe for a regulation par is a good idea. Big hitters can risk a knock with the driver, this will leave you a mid to long iron shot over water setting up an excellent chance for birdie or even eagle. The 17th hole is a beautiful dogleg with a stroke index of 8 but plays much harder. It is advisable to play with a 3 or 5 wood off the tee, hugging the left-hand side of the fairway to open the green up. Your second shot hopefully from the fairway will leave you with between 125 and 200 yards into a well-protected bunkered green. Try to avoid taking on a back pin position as through the green spells trouble with a ditch and plenty of thick rough. 5 Golf Day Etiquette The management and members of Mill Green Golf Club expect all guests and visitors to maintain a reasonable standard of dress at all times whilst on the course and in the club house DRESS STANDARDS ON COURSE Golf shoes must be worn Shirts with collars (mock-necks allowed) Tailored shorts & trousers only No Denim, tracksuits or trainers Mobile phones for emergencies only Golfers must not share bags or clubs CARE OF THE COURSE Please repair pitchmarks, spike marks, replace divots and rake bunkers To assist speed of play we encourage any player to play a provisional rather then walk back to the tee CLUBHOUSE Collared shirt, trousers and shoes are the main dress code No headwear should be worn in the clubhouse Golf shoes are not permitted in the Lounge and Salisbury Suite Footwear must be worn at all times Mobile phones are to be on silent in the Lounge/Bar Visitors are asked not to wear wet or muddy clothes they have worn on the course The Society Organiser is responsible for the dress code and etiquette of their group. 7 Golf Day Terms and Conditions GOLF DAYS 1. A golf day or society booking is for a minimum of eight full paying players. Any variation from this will be at the sole discretion of the Club. 2. There is a 4 ball policy in operation throughout the year and 2 or 3 balls may be required to pair up. 3. A provisional booking is made on completion and submission of a booking form to the Club at which you are planning to have the event. 4. The following rule only applies to Crown Golf Members. Please note the Open Play membership benefit cannot be used as part of your Society event, a detailed on Members of Crown Golf Clubs are liable to pay the full event price. 5. Please ensure that players adhere to club dress codes both course and clubhouse. Further information on dress code is available on request from the club in advance of your booking. DEPOSIT PAYMENTS 6. All bookings require a deposit within 14 days of the provisional booking. If the event occurs less than 14 days from booking the deposit is required at time of booking. 7. All bookings require a deposit, unless the Customer has an account with the Club with a unique reference number, supported by a Purchase Order number. 8. Bookings are provisional until receipt of appropriate written confirmation or deposit and signed copy of these terms and conditions. The Club reserves the right to cancel any booking without liability in the event of non-payment of a deposit. 9. Deposits are non-refundable except under circumstance defined in section A deposit of 10 per person is required at the time of booking for events with a total value under 500. For events with a total value greater than 500 the Club reserves the right to request a higher level of deposit. ARRANGEMENTS AND NUMBERS ATTENDING 11. The Customer must confirm to the Club all information necessary to organise the golf event including, the anticipated number of attendees and details of special dietary requirements and menu selections, not less than 14 working days prior to the golf event. Where a booking is made at less than 14 days notice, all such information must be confirmed at the time of the booking. 12. Final confirmed numbers are required no later than 3 days prior to the event. 13. A - Where the actual attendance on the day is 1 to 3 players less than the final confirmed numbers the Customer will be liable to pay for any pre ordered food & beverage but no green fee for the absent players. B - In the event of 4 or more attendees cancelling, the customer will be liable to pay for the full green fee and any pre ordered food & beverage for the absent players. 14. The Club reserves the right to reallocate the golf event if the attendance differs significantly from the predicted number. The Club will give written notice of amendments prior to the event if given a reasonable notice period of changes by the Customer. The Club reserves the right to make any necessary amendments to the proposed menu or facilities. CANCELLATION 15. Cancellation charges are based upon the Customer's most recent confirmation. 16. In the event of cancellation prior to an event the charges are as outlined in the matrix below. 8 days or more prior to the golf event = All deposits lost or event transferred to a future date 7-0 days prior to golf event = Full balance payable 17. The Club will make every attempt to resell cancelled booking space/times and use the profit in calculation of cancellation charges. 18. The Club may, at its sole discretion, cancel at any time any golf event it deems may prove unsuitable or disruptive to the Club as a whole. Although not bound to do so the Club would, if permitted, offer a minimum of 48hrs notice in consideration of the Customer s need to amend arrangements. In such event the Club will refund all monies paid in advance by the Customer and shall be deemed to have no further liability arising from the cancellation. In the event that a Customer is found to have misrepresented the nature of an event, the Club reserves the right to cancel the event without refund of monies paid in advance. PAYMENT 19. For all bookings payment is to be made in full no later than the day of the event prior to the first tee time. 20. The Club is not liable to offer reductions or reimbursement in the event that weather affects your golf day in any way whatsoever excluding section The Customer agrees to take full responsibility, and reimburse the Club, for the cost of repair arising from any damage to the property, contents or course and grounds by the players in their golf society. 22. All prices quoted include VAT unless otherwise stated. CONTRACTED SUPPLIERS 23. If independent suppliers are authorised by the club the Customer is responsible for ensuring the correct health and safety and public liability in held by that supplier. Adjustment to any of the above terms and conditions are at the sole discretion of the General Manager. Any changes must be stated on the booking form overleaf and only apply for the duration of that event. The Club reserves the right to revise quotations where prices may be affected due to reasons beyond its control and in such event will do so in writing to the Customer.
