4 POSTING SCORES Under the USGA Handicap System, if 13 or more holes are played, the player MUST post an 18- hole score. If 7-12 holes are played, the player must post a 9-hole score. This includes stroke play, match play, and multi-ball or team competitions in which players have not completed one or more holes or in which players are requested to pick up when out of contention on a hole. If a player starts but does not complete a hole, or is conceded a stroke, that player shall record for handicap purposes the score the player most likely would have made, not to exceed the player s Equitable Stroke Control limit. There is no limit to the number of unfinished holes a player may have in a round provided the failure to finish is not for handicap manipulation. If a player does not play a hole or plays it other than under the Rules of Golf, the player s score for that hole for handicap purposes shall be par plus any handicap strokes the player is entitled to receive on the hole. This score should be preceded by an X. This also applies to a hole on which a mulligan or magic putt is used. Using your GHIN #, enter scores into the computer in the Pro Shop or go to the NCGA or WGANC web sites and follow the prompts. When playing outside of Rossmoor, posting can be done by computer in the pro shops of NCGA and WGANC member clubs. A WGANC Official Handicap Report is generated twice a month and a hard copy showing Handicap Indexes and Course Indexes is displayed on the bulletin board and also next to the computer in the Pro Shop. EVENTS AND TOURNAMENTS Listing of events and tournaments for the present year can be found on the website, rossmoorgolf.com under the 18ers Schedule link. Prior to the deadline for each, reminders will be sent informing of sign up, flier notifications will be placed on the bulletin board, and appropriate sign-up envelopes will be available on the counter of the 18ers area of the Pro Shop. Formats may change at the discretion of the Committee Chair. ECLECTIC: Thursday scores, on specific dates, in which members try to improve their score for each of the 18 holes. A small fee is charged and collected at the beginning of the season and prizes are awarded at the Holiday Luncheon. CHARM DAYS: A low net tournament usually played on the first Thursday of the month. The monthly winner is awarded a golf towel. A play-off of all monthly charm winners is usually held in November and determines which player receives and keeps the silver charm. The charm is awarded at the Holiday Lunch. GUEST DAYS: Each member may invite up to 3 guests who each must play to a maximum handicap of 40. Green fees are paid by the guest at the resident rate. Only guests with an 18- Page 4 of 5
5 hole handicap may participate in the four-person team, two-best-ball competition. Prizes are awarded at a lunch following play. CASUAL GUEST DAYS: Designated days in which all Rossmoor resident guests pay greens fees at the resident rate rather than at the guest rate the entire day. There is no formal Club tournament or formal breakfast or lunch gathering. It is up to the individual resident to host meals for their guest/guests. SPRING FLING: An annual tournament played with the Rossmoor Women s Niners Golf Club. A fashion show and lunch follow tournament play. Each year the two Clubs take turns running the event and the tournament chairperson chooses the team format. Pro Shop staff will pair Niners and 18ers when needed. Prizes are awarded during lunch following play. BLUE AND WHITE: Play is four-ball match play and participants are grouped by computer based on handicaps into a Blue Team and a White Team. Following play, the team accumulating the most points is treated to lunch by the defeated team. HALLOWEEN: A two-best-ball of the foursome with an orange ball format tournament. Players are encouraged to decorate a hat for the best hat contest. Winners of the tournament and winner of the hat competition will be announced at the Membership General Meeting lunch following play. TWILIGHT GOLF TOURNAMENTS: Open to all Rossmoor 18ers, Niners, and men s golf club members who have an official handicap. The tournament is sponsored by the Rossmoor Men s Golf Club. A 9-hole Modified Florida Scramble four-person team competition is played on the Dollar Course with a 2:30 shotgun start usually on the fourth Friday of the month. Men usually play from the red tees and women from the gold tees. Prizes are awarded at an optional cocktails and dinner following play. Page 5 of 5
