6 PRO TIPS A difficult hole to par with water left, OB right and a green severely sloped and well protected by steep bunkers. Ideally, position a drive 10 yards short of the left fairway bunker and a short iron to the centre of the green will get you a par. Be aware that the green slopes away front left and long left. 10 PRO TIPS A fun hole for the long hitter, with a good chance of getting on to the green in 2 shots. Water waits for errant shots, right, left and beyond the green. The plateau green s defences are the two steep mounds and a steep fall-off back and right, rejecting shots that are short, right or long. However, an overly long drive will frequently reach the water along the sloping fairway, so use a driver with caution. The prevailing head wind adds to the difficulty. The severely sloped green allows difficult pin positions high right or long left and long balls often run off into the rough. 14 PRO TIPS The most difficult hole on this course demands a 260+ yards long and accurate drive. The prevailing tail wind adds to the difficulty. Pin positions on the well banked green can be very difficult when placed long right or short left. A lofted approach shot is needed to ensure a birdy or par. The curved green frontage calls for varying carry distances to safely cross the water hazard. 18 PRO TIPS This 600+ yard par-5 demands a 3 shot strategy for most. On occasion, with a favorable wind, a 300+ yard drive may allow a long or mid iron approach that stays on the green surface but be warned that long approaches to the green risk ending up OB. Club level players often treat this as a four-shotter but even so, approach shots need to be accurately positioned between water hazards. Topped or thin approach or bunker shots will endanger members on the clubhouse. 24 36 yards PRO TIPS This fairway curves left with OB beyond the tree-line left. From an elevated tee position with a view of fighter aircraft taking off, scratch players and pros will often place their tee-shot near or beyond the hundred yard distance marker allowing them to attack the pin with a wedge. Club members should aim to split the fairway leaving around 150 yards on their approach. Water extends to the right of the green fronted by a connecting drain that runs diagonally across the fairway. 30 39 yards PRO TIPS Nominally the easiest on the course, this hole can become challenging with a strong head-wind. The double green slopes severely to the front and is receptive to longer clubs. The primary defences of this green are the steep and some-what subtle slopes. Members should be aware of the group ahead on the 16th tee before teeing off. 32 31 yards PRO TIPS The second most difficult hole at the KGA calls for a long and accurate drive short of the water hazard. The fairway doglegs right to a sloped green guarded by water and bunkers either side. Errant tee-shots will end up in the cross-drain hazard or the trees right. The exposed fairway means choosing the right club for the approach becomes critical in high winds. The green slopes right to left, and back to front and 2-putts are not guaranteed. Shorter hitters need to clear the drain with a shot carrying 160+ yards; thence lay-up well short of the green and use a lofted iron approach for most pin positions.
