Hopefully this will be short lived and March will be better for golfing. We thank him for his 10 years of service to Lake Valley and wish him well in the future. At this time, the board has named Scott Crowell as our new Golf Course Superintendent. At the February board meeting, the Greens Committee was appointed. The members are: Carol Welch, Michele Waite, Jim Krupa, Dale McElwee and David VonGunten. The Co-Chairmen will be Cole Glascock and Ronnie Burnau with Sam Willcut being board liaison. If you have any interest in being a member of the Greens Committee, contact Cole or Ronnie. 3 Important Reminders: Frost With the coming of colder temperatures we have begun the daily frost watch. Since the golf course is located in a valley next to the lake we often have frost even when others around the area do not. The golf course will remain closed each day until such time as the frost thaws enough to make playing safe for the turf. If you have an early tee time, you can call ahead to check on the day s conditions. Driving Range Packages Again this year Lake Valley will offer individual range passes for $100 and family passes for $175. This yearly pass is good for all the range balls you care to hit for If you like to practice or have decided that this is the year you are going to improve your game this offer is for you! Contact Dan or Andi to get signed up for this year. Golf Grip Replacement Have you checked your grips lately? This is the time of year to replace those worn grips and get ready for the coming golf season. Contact Dan or Andi and they will get you just the right grip and prepare your clubs for Golf Calendar Dates are quickly filling in for this year s golf schedule. If you have an event or know of any group looking for a place to hold their event for this year, please contact Dan in the Pro Shop to reserve a date. MEN S STAG: The Next Men s Stag Night is Tuesday, March 26 th. Committee: Cole & Tim Glascock Chairmen Chris Day Doug Gale Ron Meyer Terry Niebaum Dan Robertson Dean Vest David Von Gunten WEDNESDAY MORNING SENIOR SCRAMBLES will resume play on April 3 rd. Please look for the first week s sign-up sheet during the last week in March. Play will begin at 9:00 a.m. for these events in April. Mark your calendars and plan to attend the season opener. This is a great way for new members to meet people and have fun at the same time. MONDAY NIGHT MEN S LEAGUE is scheduled to begin on Monday May 6 th. It s time to line up your partner and get signed up for this year. Call or drop by the Pro Shop to reserve a spot. Please designate whether you want to play in the Up or Down division when you register.

4 THE MEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION KICK-OFF EVENT will be Sunday April 28 th. This event will be an 18 hole 4-man scramble with breakfast preceding the golf. Kick-Off is open to any member of the Lake Valley Men s Golf Association. Breakfast will start at 7:00 a.m. with a shotgun start for golf at 8:30 a.m. Cost for Kick -Off is $30 per person. If you have not paid your 2013 MGA Dues yet, bring an additional $25. A sign-up sheet is available in the Pro Shop, so be sure to get your name on it. THE FIRST GREENS AERIFICATION AND TOP DRESSING is scheduled for Monday March 18 th. Weather permitting the course will be closed this day to complete the spring aerification. HANDICAP CART FLAGS Golf cart traffic has been restricted to rough only until Spring. For those of you that have medical conditions that make the extra walking a burden, you can sign up to use a handicap flag when playing during the off season. The handicap flag will allow you to drive to your ball when conditions allow. Request forms may be picked up in the Pro Shop and will be presented to the Board of Directors for approval. You must be re-approved each year for this privilege. West. The lucky number for this month is #1068. If this is your number call Priscilla to claim your $25 cart prize. Last month s winner was John BUNCO: The next BUNCO will be Thursday, March 28th, at 6:00p.m. Call Priscilla to sign up Bag Storage and Locker Rental The club offers golf bag storage and locker rentals for both men and women. If anyone would like to take advantage of these handy services, just contact Dan or Andi and we can get you signed up. The annual billing will go out the end January. If you currently utilize either of these services and no longer want them, please notify the Pro Shop for a billing adjustment.
