2 WAID s 60th Anniversary Celebration You are invited to our Diamond Celebration! WAID is marking this milestone with a new format to the annual convention. A streamlined schedule allows for a more productive week while making those crucial contacts necessary in today s business environment. Sunday s Welcome Reception is your first networking opportunity. After picking up your badge, mingle with old and new friends in the beach area of Mission Bay. Arrange your dinner party and off you go to enjoy San Diego s fabulous culinary diversity. Come back to the Catamaran and enjoy a bay cruise aboard the resort s classic sternwheeler, the Bahia Belle. Enjoy live music and your favorite beverage. Cruises are complimentary for hotel guests. Non guests can purchase tickets at the hotel for $10. We have loaded up the schedule on Monday to include multiple speakers along with our annual business meeting. The banquet that night includes a keynote presentation you will not want to miss! Tuesday s golf tournament will have an early morning shotgun start and conclude with an after-party for awards. 3 About WAID s Convention Industry professionals come together each Fall to discuss the latest hot topics in the industrial distribution and manufacturing world. Networking is included in the design of the convention and spouses are encouraged to attend. Who Should Attend Owners, key managers, and sales representatives in industrial distribution and manufacturing. What to Expect WAID s convention is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable. This event is known as the, no ties allowed meeting while maintaining a professional atmosphere. The dress code is business casual. Sunday s Welcome Reception is a place to reacquaint yourself with old friends, make new friends, and enjoy the fabulous Mission Bay. Registration packets will be handed out. Later, grab a business associate and venture out to one of San Diego s many fabulous restaurants. Monday will be a full day, breaking for a luncheon and concluding with dinner. Monday s continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included with your registration. The annual business meeting starts the day followed by the education presentations. 4 About Our Speakers Bill Truax, Trufield Enterprises Bill Truax focuses in 3 areas; Goal achievement, Discus throwing, and Winston Churchill and they actually blend together perfectly! Bill has studied goal achievement for many years and his trademark program, It s Just a Skill defines his guiding principle that success in any field is achieved by learning the skill required and then persisting at it. This is the foundation for all of his presentations and he uses this principle for his athletic endeavors as well. As a Masters Discus thrower, he competes at local, national and world competitions as a member of the USA Track and Field. He uses the 5 steps in the It s Just a Skill program, so he has firsthand knowledge of the challenges of pursuing a goal. He shares many of those experiences in his presentations. Bill will be presenting twice during the convention. His first presentation, How to Get All the Prospects You Want will be during the education component of the meeting. He shows field sales professionals how to set up and maintain an easy and fun system for Prospecting, the goal being to have a continuously growing customer base. His second presentation will be as the featured keynote speaker during Monday s dinner. During his keynote address, he will use the life of Winston Churchill to demonstrate the 5 Steps all High Achievers Follow as a model for personal skill development. Bill and his wife Susie have been married for 48 years and make Ohio their home. They have two sons, seven grandchildren and are on their 5th German Shepard, a wilderness Search and Rescue dog named Gunny. James Ludwig, Baldor/ABB Industry Business Manager, Food, Beverage, and Pharmaceutical segment For the past 22 years Jim has held various sales and marketing positions in the automation and controls, motor and MPT industry. For the past 9 years he has been exclusively committed to the food and beverage segment. Jim currently manages the Baldor/ABB food industry account managers and engineering team on driving the specification of products and introducing new innovations to food and beverage customers. He holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Psychology from the University of Nebraska. Jim will be speaking to the topic of Food Safety. In the Food and Beverage Industry, reliability, productivity and food safety are three key drivers of customer behavior. Out of those three, food safety is the most elusive, complex and holds the greatest risk to both the company and consumers if not managed effectively. This presentation will focus on what is changing from both a governmental and equipment sanitary design standpoint to ensure that products delivered through the supply chain prevent the introduction of pathogens and contaminants that compromise the safety of the food supply.
