7 New MMGA web site ghin.com/eclub/mmga The VSGA surprised us with this on February 25. We needed to immediately move our members to the new site, which required an egolfer account. Only a minority of the members had egolfer accounts, so we created them and printed cards, which were in the Pro Shop. You can get yours up front after the meeting if you haven t gotten it. The MMGA web site will continue to be used for tournament signup and communicating news.

10 Changes to Skins Game For tournaments that have a Skins game: Skins will be earned daily, but paid out based on the total value of the Gross & Net pots divided by the total number of Gross & Net skins for the weekend. If there are no Gross or Net Skins for the entire weekend, the MMGA will refund the money from the associated pool. We will continue to ask for Gene Garlick s help to collect the funds as long as he is willing and available. Thank you Gene!

11 Changes to Sorry Partner & Blue Coat Part I Sorry Partner Will be flighted with most likely 2 flights unless we see a significant turn out. Points Pool and Club prizes are 50/50 between flights. Based on last year s turn out, though number of places are subject to change, up or down, based on actual turn out: First flight will pay 4 places, 2 Gross & 2 Net. Second flight will also pay 4 places, all Net. Player of the Year points are equal between: 1 st place Gross/Net in Flight 1 and 1 st /2 nd place Net in Flight 2 2 nd place Gross/Net in Flight 1 and 3 rd /4 th place Net in Flight 2

12 Changes to Sorry Partner & Blue Coat Part I Blue Coat The Points Pool will pay 40% to Gross and 60% to Net. Club prizes are split 50/50. Only the top 3 Gross and Net scores will receive points towards Player of the Year since there will more paid places Net than there will be Gross. Top Gross places will pay as much as Net in the same spot, there will just be fewer Gross. Tournament is still scored Net first, meaning lowest Net score represents the Blue Coat winner.

Looking back at the tournament data for 2013, a 50/50 split between Gross and Net no longer seemed equitable given the limited number of gross players based on these (ESC) scores: Sorry Partner The average index of participants was 12.3 (14 handicap) The average posted score was 88 82% of the field posted scores >= 80 Blue Coat The average index of participants was 11.8 (13 handicap) The average posted score was 89 86% of the field posted scores >= 80

14 Changes to Sorry Partner & Blue Coat Part II 80% Handicap Reduction in Blue Coat and best ball portion of Sorry Partner (previously 90%): Four-ball stroke play, where two competitors play as partners and their lower score is that side's score for the hole: men receive 90% of their Course Handicaps; women get 95% of their Course Handicaps. The USGA recommends that the spread between partners' Course Handicaps be limited to eight strokes. If the spread is greater, reduce all Course Handicaps by an additional 10%. USGA studies have shown that teams with a wide handicap spread will have an unfair advantage.

15 Tee Box Movement Based on significant member feedback: The board made a recommendation to the club not to move tee boxes significant distances from their otherwise normal locations for MMGA tournaments. It should be noted, however, that tee box locations are still ultimately chosen at the Superintendent s discretion in the best interest of the course.

16 Changes to Tournament Operating Procedures Playoff holes used for tie breakers will be hole number 9, followed by hole number 1, followed by a return to hole number 9, repeating that order as many times as necessary to break a tie for 1 st place. 17 New GOLD Tee Option for MMGA Championship The MMGA Championship will now feature an option to play from the GOLD tees for those who are: Age 65 or older AND Possess a Handicap of 15 or above Players competing from this tee will be competing for Net only. BLUE tees are Gross only (no change). WHITE tees are Gross and Net (no change).

18 New Tournament Participation Incentive Each tournament played will result in a raffle ticket for each participating player being placed in a jar. At the end of the season, we will draw names from the jar for prizes. You can only win once. Every tournament played increases your chances of winning a prize. Prizes currently include a 2 lesson pack from Vince (2 available) and paid 2015 MMGA dues.

19 Digital Scoring We hope to produce Digital Scoring in the Grill Room by the second or third tournament. This will provide the following benefits: More accurate scoring Leader board displayed on the TV in the Grill Room Automatic scoring of the Skins Game Ease of posting results to eclubhouse Ease of tournament score posting Historical recording

20 New Handicap Policy Players must post all scores of rounds that have been played under the Rules of Golf, with the exception of MMGA tournament scores. If a player plays 7 to 12 holes, a 9 hole score needs to be posted. If a player plays 13 or more holes, an 18 hole score should be posted. In either case, any un-played holes should be recorded as par plus any handicap strokes that the player is entitled to receive on the remaining holes.

21 New Handicap Policy All scores need to be posted within a reasonable time after the conclusion of play. If the Committee feels a player is in gross neglect of not posting scores within a reasonable time, that player can or will be penalized within the penalty outline. The Handicap Committee reserves the right to post a penalty score if a player fails to post a score. If a player continues to avoid complying, he may be suspended or subjected to a Tournament Handicap.

22 New Handicap Policy All players should abide by the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) system set in place by the USGA, for maximum score per hole based on the individual s handicap range. COURSE HANDICAP MAXIMUM NUMBER ON HOLE 9 OR LESS DOUBLE BOGEY 10 THROUGH THROUGH THROUGH 39 9

23 New Handicap Policy Penalties FIRST OFFENSE SECOND OFFENSE THIRD OFFENSE FOURTH OFFENSE VERBAL WARNING GIVING THE PLAYER A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO POST SCORE. WILL POST SCORE, PLUS A PENALTY SCORE OF THE LOWEST INDEXED IN LAST 20. IN ADDITION, A LETTER WILL BE SENT TO THE MEMBER INFORMING THEM OF THE POSTED PENALTY. WILL POST SCORE, PLUS A PENALTY SCORE OF THE LOWEST INDEXED IN LAST 20. IN ADDITION, A SECOND LETTER WILL BE SENT TO THE MEMBER INFORMING THEM OF THE 2 ND POSTED PENALTY AND WARNING THE PLAYER THAT NEXT OFFENSE WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION FROM THE NEXT MMGA TOURNAMENT BY THE MMGA BOARD. WILL SUSPEND THE PLAYER FROM THE NEXT MMGA EVENT. IF NON-POSTING CONTINUES THE MMGA BOARD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SET A TOURNAMENT HANDICAP FOR THE PLAYER OR CONTINUE AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION. TOURNAMENT HANDICAP OR SUSPENSION WILL BE IN PLACE UNTIL THE MMGA BOARD DEEMS FIT.

24 New Handicap Policy Appeal Process If a player is dissatisfied with any action taken against him by the Committee, the player may appeal the action. The appeal shall be heard by a 4-person panel consisting of the MMGA President, MMGA Vice President, MMGA Tournament Chair, and Head Golf Professional. All decisions by this 4 person panel are final and not subject to further review. The complete Handicap Policy is available on the About Us page in eclubhouse.

25 2014 Tournament Schedule/Formats Unless posted otherwise, we will ONLY be using the MMGA website for tournament registration. Food will only be provided for events that have a meal listed in the schedule. All tournament winnings will continue to be in the form of Club Money, which can be used in the restaurant and Pro Shop.

26 2014 Tournament Schedule/Formats All winnings from the 2014 year need to be redeemed by March 31, Unless otherwise noted, the deadline for each tournament will be the Wednesday before the event at 5pm. Starting tee times may change based on weather or course demands.

27 The Ice Breaker Time: 9:00am shotgun Format: Texas Scramble, Four Man Blind Draw All players tee off on each hole. The team will then decide which drive to use and from that point on, each player will play their own ball for the rest of the hole. The team score will be the 2 balls Gross and Net. Must use minimum of 3 drives from each player per round 40% of Handicap

28 Remaining Tournament Lineup April Spring Classic 4 man blind draw. 1 ball on par 5 s, 2 balls on par 4 s, and 3 balls on par 3 s. 70% handicaps May Memorial Two man pick your partner point quota FLIGHTED. The flight winners will then compete in a Member Guest style playoff starting on hole 1 to determine the overall winner. 100% handicaps to determine quota June MMGA Championship Field will be divided into three flights; Gross only from the Blue, Gross and Net from the White, and Net only from the Gold. Those who wish to play for the MMGA Club Championship must elect to play from the Blue Tees. Blue tees will pay Gross only; White tees will pay Gross and Net; Gold tees will pay Net only (must be 65+ with 15+ handicap).

29 Remaining Tournament Lineup June Sorry Partner Two man pick your own partner; flighted. 9 holes Better ball 80%, 9 holes Scramble 25%, 9 holes Alternate 50% of the combined total, and 9 holes Aggregate 100% individual. September Fall Classic Two man, team match play. The field will be split into two teams and the low player from each side will become the team captains. The Thursday or Friday before the event we will have a live draw for Saturday pairings and then again following play on Saturday for Sunday s pairings. October Blue Coat Two Man pick your partner Better Ball - 80% handicaps. Low Net team is the Blue Coat Champion.

30 Remaining Tournament Lineup November End of the Year Classic 4 man blind draw mixed format. Saturday: 4 man scramble, no minimum drives, 20% team handicap. Sunday A/B play scramble and C/D play scramble, 25% handicaps.

31 MMGA Player of the Year Player of the Year will be determined based on the accumulation of Club Prizes or specific points assigned to places of finish in a MMGA tournament. Club Prizes includes Closest to the Pin, which is treated as an individual prize. Standings will be updated and posted to eclubhouse at the completion of every MMGA tournament. MCC events are excluded (Match Play, Member/Guest, other club tournaments, etc.) The winner is awarded a trophy and a designated parking space for one year.

32 MMGA Most Improved Player The GHIN system provides a standard report that uses the following USGA recommended method for determining a club s most improved player: Add 12* to the player's Handicap Index at the start of the season. This is value A. Add 12 to the player's Handicap Index at the end of the season. This is value B. Divide value A by value B, calculating to three decimal places. This is the improvement factor. The player with the highest improvement factor should receive the most improved player award. Example: Starting Handicap Index: 22.6 Ending Handicap Index: 17.4 Value A: = 34.6 Value B: = 29.4 A / B: 34.6 / 29.4 = Improvement Factor: MIP for 2014 will be measured from December 1, 2013 to November 15, Qualifications: You must play in 5 MMGA events to be eligible for Most Improved Player The winner is awarded a trophy and a designated parking space for one year.
