2 Transform Lives, One Wish At A Time At Make-A-Wish, we believe a single wish can transform a child s life. That s why we are on a mission to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. Life for these children can be scary, uncertain overwhelming. Then a wish comes along, giving them renewed energy and strength. Make-A-Wish is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 60 chapters in the United States and its territories and 41 affiliates in more than 50 countries on five continents. With the help of generous donors and a network of more than 35,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish every 34 minutes, and has granted more than 300,000 wishes nationally. 100% of the children who medically qualify according to their doctors receive a wish, so long as they are between the ages of 2½ and 18 at the time of their referral and have never received a prior wish from any wish-granting organization. Since the founding of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin in 1984, more than 6,500 families have experienced the transformative power of a wish across the state. This year, our goal is to grant more than 400 wishes! Help Us Close The Gap Financial support for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin comes from a combination of individual, corporate and foundation donors We are on pace to grant more than 400 wishes for Wisconsin children this fiscal year, however more than 500 Wisconsin children will be diagnosed with a critical illness this year alone The average cost of a wish is $6,850 in cash expenses and $5,650 in donated goods and services We have seen a 21% increase in qualified wish referrals since implementing a dedicated medical outreach plan More qualified referrals = a greater need for funds Did you know? 97% OF WISH KIDS saw improvements in their mental and emotional health 88.5% OF DOCTORS believe the wish positively influenced physical health 82% OF WISH PARENTS saw an increased energy level in their children 96% OF WISH PARENTS said the wish strengthened their families 96% OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS observe increases in a wish child s emotional health after receiving their wish 79% OF ALL FUNDS RAISED go directly to wish granting I wish to have a horse Mischa, 10 cancer

6 Meet Wish Kid Ethan Ethan is a funny, athletic 16-year-old whose world was turned upside down last summer when he started experiencing trouble breathing. He was taken to Children s Hospital in Milwaukee where they drained fluid from his heart and lungs and ran numerous tests to determine the cause of his symptoms. Ethan and his family were shocked when he was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. Ethan immediately began the first of six rounds of chemotherapy and numerous procedures to treat the symptoms he was experiencing. While the treatments were effective in treating the initial tumor, the cancer spread to his brain and Ethan needed to resume chemotherapy and attempt a bone marrow transplant. Ethan doesn t let his critical illness keep him down. He turned 16 and passed his driver s test in the middle of his treatment schedule. He is a huge sports fan and his favorite player is NBA star Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves. When Ethan learned that he would receive a wish, he knew that he wanted to meet his hero, Jimmy Butler! Thanks to our compassionate supporters like you, we were able to make Ethan s life-changing wish come true. Ethan and his family were able to escape the stress and worry that come with having to battle a life-threatening condition. Please help us reach our goal of granting a life-affirming wish for every medically qualified child by supporting Golf for Wishes!
