1 Worthington Hills Country Club Kids Newsletter 2016 Spring/Summer Programs and Activities Social and Pool Events Family Raft Night Every Friday Evening At the Pool 7:00 to 10:00 pm We encourage children to bring their floaties and enjoy the pool for an extra hour! Sock Hop Father Daughter Dance Saturday, April 23 rd All Dads, Daughters, Granddads and Granddaughters are welcome to attend this fun event! Dressing in costume for this 50 s themed dance is encouraged. 6:00 pm Dinner Buffet 6:00 to 9:00 pm DJ & Dancing 7:00 pm Ice Cream Sundae Bar Adults Children $16.95 Per Adult $11.95 Per Child Reservations will help ensure that this event will be a success, please RSVP by calling the club at or reservations@worthingtonhills.com. The goal of this program is to encourage participants to accomplish progressive skills at their own pace. We will be offering three, two-week sessions. The classes will be offered Monday through Thursday. Each class will last 45 minutes. The third session will be an evening class. Hopefully this will help accommodate our working parents. 4 Mommy and Me Swim Lessons July 18 th July 27 th Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 to 6:30 pm This class is offered as an introduction to the water for children ages six months to two years. One parent or babysitter is expected to get in the water with the child for the entire class. Limited to 12 participants Cost: $25 POOL PASSES WHCC will not be issuing pool passes for each family member this year. We will require that all members check their family and guests into the pool with their membership number each time you arrive at the facility. We ask that all members help us with keeping track of our facility usage. CHARGE IT! Cash cannot be used at the pool to purchase food and beverages or to pay for guests. Kids Only Pool Party Saturday, July 23 rd 6:00 to 9:00 pm 1 st through 5 th Graders $13 Per Child Dinner, DJ and Lip Sync Included Options For Buying Food & Beverages: -Charge your Account -Purchase with Coupon Books, Available in The Snack Stand Coupon books may be charged to your account. Children ages 8 and over may charge food and beverages at the pool. The coupon book is an excellent way to monitor your children s spending at the pool.

5 The Worthington Hills CC Swim and Dive Teams compete against other Central Ohio Country Clubs. Swimmers and divers will improve their skills while participating in friendly competition. This is a great way to meet other children at the club. Our Swim and Dive Coaches make sure that this is a fun experience for everyone! Your swimming ability does not matter as long as you can swim the length of the pool. Our coaches will work with you. 6 Sign Up for Any Junior Program by calling the Golf Pro Shop at Junior Golf Clinics This program is designed to give younger juniors initial experience through instruction and practice with basic fundamentals. Our primary goal is to have every junior walk away from the program having had a great time and having learned the basic skills, etiquette and knowledge they will use for a lifetime of golf. We even give your juniors skill mastery challenges to improve skills at home. Ages 7 & Under Ages 8-10 Ages 11 & Older June 8 th July 20 th Every Wednesday 8:30 to 9:45 am 9:45 to 11:00 am 11:00 am to 12:15 pm Full Program = 7 weeks $140 5-Week Option $110 Driving Range Children of Social and Golf Members have access to the Driving Range Plan Contract the Golf Pro Shop for Fees Junior Golf Orientation Sunday, April 3 rd 1:00 to 3:00 pm In the Learning Center Come out and see what the Golf Professionals have planned for our junior golfers this summer. The Golf Professionals will be on hand to describe the junior clinics and programs, as well as, answer any questions parents or children may have. You will be able to sign-up for the program, confirm sizes and session times, and even get fit for and order a complete junior set for your golfer. Junior Play Days Wednesdays at 8:00 am June 15 th, 22 nd and 29 th July 6 th, 13 th and 20 th Open to Children of Golf Members Children may play 4, 6, 9 or 18 Holes The number of holes a junior will play will be based on skill level and interest. To make the six and four hole portion of the play days possible, we will need parent or member volunteers to walk with the groups to assist them. Parents or members may sign up on the junior golf bulletin boards outside of the golf pro shop.

7 2016 Junior Golf Leaderboard Outside the Learning Center, there will be a Leaderboard for those juniors who participate in the clinics, play days, practicing, etc. Collect stars from June 1 st to July 31 st Juniors will receive a star for certain accomplishments throughout the summer. Prizes will be awarded to juniors who reach certain levels on the board at the end of the year. Children s Night Golf Putting Contest Friday, June 17 th 9:00 pm 1 st through 5 th Graders $10 Per Child Kids can enjoy smores around the firepit after golf. See Ben to make sure your stars get on the board. Junior Golf Clubs Junior golf sets will be available to order in the golf shop from U.S. Kids Golf. We believe this company provides the best equipment for your Junior Golfer. Please contact one of the Golf Professionals for more details. Juniors Ride FREE Night Junior Golfers (Ages 18 and Under) can ride free with a cart-fee-paying parent on Tuesdays after 6:00 pm. Junior golfers ages 10 and under can ride for FREE, with a parent, ALL SEASON LONG! 8 2016 PGA Junior League Worthington Hills will again be participating this year in the PGA Junior League with other clubs in the area. This is a structured league environment for children of golf members ages 13 & under to compete and have fun. There is a maximum of 12 children on the team. We will host 2 or 3 home matches as well as travel to 2 or 3 away matches. The team will have organized practices as well. The matches will be an alternate shot format over nine holes. Team members will receive a team jersey, bag tag and golf balls. We are in the process of finalizing the cost and dates of the matches. Sign-ups will begin Sunday, April 3 rd at 1:00 pm at The Junior Orientation on a first come first serve basis. Maximum of 12 children (must be a golf member). Junior Tournaments Along with the Junior Club Championship and the Parent/Child Tournament, there are other outside of the club events that juniors can participate in. You can find more information on these junior events on the websites listed below. If you have any questions regarding what might be the best program for your child, please call the golf shop and speak with one of the golf professionals. 9 FROM THE COURTS Junior Tennis News Spring Junior Tennis Clinics Session I April 18 th through May 5 th Monday - Thursday Spring & Summer Tennis Clinic Age Group/Class Descriptions Mighty Mites Ages 3-5 Mini nets and special training balls, which are age appropriate for beginning children, will be used. We will strive to teach teamwork and basic skills as we introduce the children to the game of tennis including a combination of skills and fun games. Future Stars Ages 6-9 Mini nets and special junior training balls will be used which will help children develop their skills and begin rallying. Games and drills will be used to teach strokes and grips along with techniques of footwork. Using junior training equipment, we will introduce the serve with the aim of having the children rally and enjoy the mini-tennis experience. Session II May 9 th through May 26 th Monday Thursday Future Stars Ages 6-9 3:30 to 4:30 pm $12 Per Class Junior Development Ages 10 and Up 4:30 to 6:00 pm $16 Per Class Junior Development Ages 10 & older Students will transition to regulation sized tennis courts with regulation tennis balls. They will be grouped on the court based on age ability. The focus will continue to be on stroke and technique development and how to use them in a point situation

Bring your children or grandchildren and get to know the instructors Every Child leaves with a Prize! Cost: FREE! Family Fun Day Sunday, July 17 th 2:00 to 3:30 pm Formerly know as the Parent/Child Tournament. We invite children and their parents to enjoy a social day of tennis and fun. If a child s parent doesn t play tennis and they want to invite an aunt, uncle or grandparent, we d love to see the whole family out there having fun! There will be regular doubles play as well as fun games and prizes. Cost: FREE! Junior Interclub Represent Worthington Hills Country Club against other Columbus clubs and teams. Matches are on Friday Afternoons. Watch for the match schedule to come out in May!

11 Speed and Agility Class June 1 st through June 15 th Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00 to 3:45 pm Ages Proper body mechanics will be emphasized to teach young athletes to move efficiently. Come to this class if you want to see improvements in speed, jumping ability and change of direction skills. On the final day of class, the fitness staff will hold a competitive event that utilizes the skills practiced throughout the previous five classes. FREE! Sign up in the Fitness Facility Children s Self Defense/Confidence Camp Introduce your child to proven solutions to some of the less than ideal situations the world may present to them. Along with self defense techniques, they will learn the situational awareness and self confidence needed to dissuade a would be attacker. The camp will introduce your child to defense techniques derived from Krav Maga, Brazillian Ju Jitsu (Hiscoe JJ) and even kickboxing! July 5 th through July 21 st Tuesday and Thursdays 3:00 to 4:00 pm $50 Per Child Kids Field Day Friday, June 17 th 12:30 to 2:00 pm Join our staff for an afternoon of games and fun with your friends at WHCC! Ages 7 to 12 $10 per child Sign up in the Fitness Facility Dance Camp Get up to move and groove this summer! This class will meet each dancer at their own level so no experience necessary. Come to this class if you want to learn how to break dance, choreograph your own dance or just have fun dancing with friends. This class will be filled with games and lots of fun! June 6 th through June 10 th Ages 4-6 2:00 to 2:50 pm Ages :00 to 4:00 pm $50 per child Limited to 12 participants!
