3 3 Chrome & Fire Benefit Poker Run Chrome & Fire was a great success, we had 72 participants and over 25 volunteers. It was a gorgeous day, we raffled off some great prizes. We had Tiffany from Wells Fargo in the dunk tank and got to listen to an amazing local band, Sunflowers & Sin. This successful event allows us to assemble over 150 Comfort Bags and next year we hope to be able to make even more! Lorem Ipsum Staff Spotlight-Krista Krista was born and raised in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. She has been an athlete since she was three years old focusing mainly on ice hockey.

Krista played D3 hockey and studied Public Relations with a minor in Business Marketing.

They have lived in Charleston for almost 4 years now. They just purchased their first home in June and are enjoying this beautiful, snow free city.

4 Lorem Ipsum Staff Spotlight-Krista Krista was born and raised in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. She has been an athlete since she was three years old focusing mainly on ice hockey. At sixteen she got a scholarship to play hockey at St. George s Prep in Newport, RI. She graduated in 2007 and headed to Oswego, NY where she attended SUNY Oswego University. Krista played D3 hockey and studied Public Relations with a minor in Business Marketing. After graduating in 2011 she went on an East Coast road trip with her best friend, their final stop: Charleston, SC, where she met her now husband, Steve. They have lived in Charleston for almost 4 years now. They just purchased their first home in June and are enjoying this beautiful, snow free city. The Next Big Challenge Reach the Beach Relay consists of 12-person standard teams or 6-person ultra teams that will rotate through 36 transition areas as they cover the approximate 200- mile course. Each relay team member will run 3 legs (6 legs for ultras) of varying lengths and difficulties, and will cover an average total distance of about 16.6 miles (about 33 miles for ultras). Runners rotate in a set order once the race begins and will be obligated to follow this rotation until the final runner reaches the beach. All teams are expected to maintain an average pace of approximately 10 minutes per mile as they complete the course. Members of the LRMG will be running this event in September. The interns of the LRF have come together to give our social media outlets a facelift. Starting with our website, we have put together a layout that is more friendly to use. With easy navigation, short-and-to-the-point descriptions, and up-to-date information, we hope that our veterans will be inclined to check out who we are, what we do, and interest them in helping the Foundation and our country s veterans. We have also updated our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages and even added an official blog! 5 Upcoming events Bergen county chrome & fire August 29, 2015 Rochelle Park, New Jersey The Liberty Run Foundation and Bergen County are putting a spin on the traditional benefit ride.

Each team will be asked to snap a selfie with various landmarks, people, and other things around the city and post their pictures to social media. The team with the most points wins!

The first one will take place at the Royce Brook Golf Club in New Jersey. The second tournament will be at Rivertowne Country Club in South Carolina. Register as an individual or as a team of four.

Fairway brigade golf tournament August 11, 2015 Hillsborough, New Jersey September 3, 2015 Charleston, South Carolina The Fairway Brigade Golf Tournament will be held at two locations this year! The first one will take place at the Royce Brook Golf Club in New Jersey. The second tournament will be at Rivertowne Country Club in South Carolina. Register as an individual or as a team of four. Captain and Crew playing format. All proceeds will go to support our veterans. Enjoy 18 holes of golf, a complimentary cocktail hour, silent auction, and awards. 6 Liberty Run foundation Summer 2015 Interns Shout out! The Liberty Run Foundation had a great intern group over the Spring Semester. With interns in both NJ and SC, the LRF Intern Program included three event planning/ public relation interns, a business admin intern and two communication interns. Utilized in every facet of our operation, they helped with event planning, public relations, and social media. They attended outreach program events, maintained and expanded our social media platform and over all, increased our presence on the web. Between the two groups, they participated in a combined dozen community outreach events conducted by the LRF as part of our community stewardship program that connects the LRF to community level support organizations: the VA, homeless shelters, church groups, as well as other smaller veteran organizations. Combined with the LRF Comfort Bag Program that supports our homeless/distressed veterans and their families, and fund raising events, the LRF interns get first hand experience on the importance of maintaining a grassroots, community level operation. Their impact was positive and immediate, and helped improve the way this organization operates on all levels, and although some have moved on, most have stayed directly involved as volunteers with the intention of continued support, and eventually becoming future full time employees. A future they are helping to build. The summer intern team is already at full speed. The SC and NJ LRF team has five summer interns to continue the operation support in which they will assist in event planning, public relations, social media, business admin, as well as participate in three upcoming fund raising events. The Summer Intern Program allows the Liberty Run Foundation team to operate more effectively, maintaining a very cost effective and streamlined operation while maintaining our effectiveness in the community. The LRF interns are selected through Stephanie Gonzalez, the LRF HR representative, and dispatched to whatever location they are interested in, based on what intern program they are applying for. All intern candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited university, they must maintain a GPA greater than 3.0, and be at least in their junior year. Stephanie has built the LRF selection criteria and her selection process is credited for the success of the LRF intern program.
