Congratulations to our President-elect Paul Corby! His elective office will officially start on January 1, Wahoo and thanks Paul! This year a new process for our annual elections was created by Maria Ascanio and Gene Mammone, with the goal to improve participation and seek potential candidates. They went above and beyond to seek out nominations via , sent out the ballot electronically with write-in options and then communicated the results via electronic data. This allowed for more people to have a say in the elections, especially if they were unable to attend the meet-up meeting for elections! Kudos to them and to all who voted as we had the largest voting presence ever 55 votes were anonymously cast. Wahoo! One other kudos is to the 17 ASGA ers from the local Philly chapter that went to Seaview, New Jersey, Oct 8-11 for the multi-chapter event. It s great to see this sort of participation. (BTW if you click on the link from the ASGA Philly chapter under national headlines, you will see a lot of our folks in the photos taken.) On a sadder note, we had two ASGA ers face tough times. Debbie Kindt had some health issues which was so concerning. She has been such an asset to ASGA as the Treasurer and a fun person as well. Fortunately, she is doing much better. Rita Kline lost a family member way too soon. We are sorry for her loss. My love of this group is the support that pours out when these life situations happen. On a lighter note. Don t forget our next function the holiday party, Sat. Dec 12 th. Come out for socializing, eating, dancing and having fun with some very special friends! We look forward to a new golf season in 2016! ASGA Philly Chapter Holiday Party Mark your calendars for December 12 for the holiday party at the Doubletree by Hilton in Plymouth Meeting. The appetizers will start at 6:30 pm so please come into the main room for these delicious morsels. We ll have a few free drinks, our favorite DJ, Kevin Pierce, (who was the DJ at the 2014 party) and a buffet style meal. There will also be a photo slide show during our dancing with a lot of new pictures from the 2015 golf season. Costs for the party will be $50 for ASGA members and $85 for non-asga members. Unfortunately, food and beverage costs went up significantly this year, but ASGA will still contribute heavily and pick up the entire cost of the DJ, the $100 bartender charge and 50% of the open bar and food cost. As for the hotel, we have a stellar rate at the Doubletree this year of $89 per night. When the invitation is sent out, we will include the promotional code needed to obtain this rate. Please plan on attending this stellar event and celebrate the close of another terrific year for our ASGA Golf Chapter. And then sitting down to enjoy the meal you ve created accompanied by your favorite wine or spirits? Let s try a cooking class. A minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 16 comprise a class. The cost is $98, which includes a chef instructor, cooking assistants, use of their facilities, and all food. It s a BYOB. 3 Battle At The Boardwalk Stockton Seaview Resort, Absecon, NJ ASGA National planned and conducted a very successful outing at Seaview on October Seventeen Philadelphia Chapter golfers joined 51 others golfers from other chapters for three days of great fun and challenging golf. The weather was perfect. We played the Bay course on Friday - lots of sand and breezes - and the Pines course on Saturday - lots of trees and a few narrow fairways. The pictures show that there was plenty of time for socializing and partying plus the obligatory golf! The food, service and facilities (both golfing and the hotel rooms) were great. Tom Alsop and the Seaview staff took very good care of us. This was the first ASGA National outing for some of our members, and we were not disappointed. The final, delicious dinner on Saturday night included prizes and a raffle. One of the best features of the weekend was the fact that we were only a 1 1/2 hour drive from Philadelphia - no airports, no luggage, no check /check-out, etc. Patti Rose and Bob Reph headed to the first tee.
