1 In planning the 2014 District Conference, I surveyed Rotarians to discover what obstacles were prohibiting participation. The three main obstacles were location being too far away, not being able to commit 3+ days and high costs. In response, we are holding our conference in Point Pleasant Beach, allowing registrations for individual events at the conference and keeping the costs to a minimum. While I hope you will join us for the entire weekend, you are welcome to join us for just a day or a single activity. The decision to hold the conference in Point Pleasant Beach was made before Sandy ravished our area. I am committed to bring our shore the business associated with the conference and have adopted the theme of Strengthen Our Shore for the 2014 conference District Governor Sheila E. Vinton Al a Carte Menu Governor s Special Attend all three days and save $35 for a Rotarian or $75 for a couple.. Friday Includes lunch, coffee, snacks, plenary workshops, cocktail reception, and Murder Mystery Dinner. Noon 10pm Saturday Includes Breakfast,, coffee, snacks, plenary workshops, cocktail reception, and Gala. 8am-10pm. Individual Items You may purchase, Saturday Night Gala,, Sunday Breakfast and the Polio Walk all separately. Book A Hotel Room - As this conference caters to various schedules, Rotarians are to make all hotel arrangements directly with the hotel. Special hotel prices will be announced by August 30th. 3 Lodging Information Rotarians are to directly book their own lodging to allow for the maximum amount of flexibility for attendees. The conference committee has made arrangements with several facilities to provide a discount. When registering with the site, please be sure to mention that you are a part of the Rotary District Conference and that you would like the Rotarian Rate. These rates are first come first serve and it is highly recommended that you register your lodging before February 1 st. CONFERENCE RESORT WHITE SANDS OCEANFRONT RESORT & SPA 1205 Ocean Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach The White Sands will host several activities during the conference including plenary sessions, exhibits and more. There are several Rotarian Rate offers available through the White Sands. Rooms start at $100 for standard rooms, $160 for Ocean View rooms, and $500 for suites (tax additional). Grenville Hotel 345 Main Ave, Bay Head The Grenville is more of a Bed and Breakfast feel with access to the Bay Head beaches. The Rotarian Rate is a 25% discount on 2 nights ($267 including tax). Windswept Motel 1008 Ocean Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach The Windswept Motel is located within 2 blocks from the White Sands. The Rotarian Rate for the Windswept is $95-$125. Point Beach Motel 18 Trenton Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach The Point Beach Motel is located between The White Sands and Martells. The Rotarian Rate for the Point Beach Motel is $90 a night.

5 Excursions and Fun When you check in, you will receive a journal with the most exciting things to do in Point Pleasant Beach. We also have several additional activities that you may wish to participate in. A separate signup sheet is required for each activity. Golf Tournament May 2nd 7:30am start; $150 per golfer; Pine Barons Golf Club Situated upon 420 acres of natural terrain, this award-winning private Championship golf course sings the whispering song of New Jersey s Pinelands. Trophies will be presented at the Conference. Limited space available. Mini-Golf Tournament May 3 rd 3pm, $7 per golfer; Castaway Cove Pirate-themed mini-golf course located directly on the boardwalk with host a mini-golf tournament for all ages. While at the boardwalk take advantage of some premium priced arcade cards. Prizes will be awarded for the mini-golf. Jenkinson s Aquarium May 3 rd 12:45pm, $4 per person; Jenkinson s Aquarium on Boardwalk You are welcome to take advantage of this special day pass rate with admission all day. At 12:45 Rotarians and family will meet to experience the aquarium together including a shark feeding. Amazing Race May 3 rd noon, $10 per team; Starts at White Sands Lobby Are you up to a challenge? You will explore the Point Pleasant Beach area solving clues and collecting puzzle pieces. For each team who completes the race there will be prizes. This is a great way to explore Point Pleasant Beach shops. Wine Tasting May 3 rd 3pm, $10 per person; Surf and Offshore Take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the conference to enjoy a wine tasting and music.

6 Golf Tournament Friday May 2 To enjoy a round of golf at Pine Barrens Golf Club is to commune with nature. Course designer, Eric Bergstol, made perfect use of the native sand, the indigenous plant life, and the congregations of pines. Located upon 420 acres of natural terrain, Pine Barrens Golf Club is spectacular --- a world-class golf destination within the protected acreage of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Expansive, undulating, bent grass greens average over 7,500 sq. ft. and are tailored to test the skills and abilities of even the most experienced golfer. Golfing begins at 7:30am. The tournament ends with drinks and fellowship at Tipperary Bar. Trophies will be presented at the District Conference on Saturday. 7 Mini Golf Excursion Saturday May 3 Play in our mini-golf tournament at 2:00pm. Prizes for all children. 18 hole mini-golf course at Castaway course, located across from Martell s Tiki Bar. Meet at the course. ($7.00 per person) Want to play at the arcade with the kids before or after golf. We have also set up a discounted rate for Arcade games. 8 Jenkinson s Aquarium Saturday May 3 We will meet as a group for some Rotary fellowship at the aquarium at 12:45pm (on the boardwalk). Tickets are required. Special Rotarian rate for admission for all day access at $4.00 per person. Experience all the marine life that call Jenkinson s home. Feel free to take advantage of numerous trips back throughout the day. 9 Amazing Race Saturday May 3 Build your team for the Rotary Amazing Race. You will need to follow the clues around Point Pleasant Beach to be the first team to solve the puzzle. Meet at the White Sands Lobby to start your journey. The race will be appropriate for all ages. Teams may be as small or large as you desire. Prizes will be awarded for teams who complete the race. 10 Wine Tasting Saturday May 3 Enjoy a variety of wines from 3-4pm at Surf and Offshore, located at 1008 Richmond Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach. 11 Polio Walk/Run Sunday May 4 Walk for those who can t. Rotary is so close to eradicating Polio from the world.
