This year has been my most rewarding year, winning at the local, regional, and national amateur level.. I have been involved in almost every shape and facet of amateur golf around this city. From competing in the City Amateur Events, Local Pro-Am's, Golf Channel Tour, My Club, and Fundraising events, each type has been rewarding. If it is helping put together events to raise money for great causes or competing at the City Amateur, all are very rewarding!. I feel like my story of development has inspired so many around me. Instead of being an occasional recreational golfer, I see my friends practicing, seeking out help with their game, and getting involved in competition. It has been really exciting to watch! Due to the amount of involvement in amateur golf, I have many golfers come to me for help and advice. This has been fun and exciting to help mentor these players. This application must be signed and returned to the STPGA office by August 26, 2016 in order for the nominee to be considered for this award. The STPGA Awards Committee strongly recommends that the application for this award be typewritten and will not accept additional materials beyond the answers to the questions on the application. Include a brief description of your involvement in amateur golf and how it is related to this award: Amateur golf has provided me an incredible opportunity to grow as a player and a person. This year I played in 14 tournaments for the University of Houston including the NCAAs. It has afforded me the chance to compete with some of the worlds top players at some very incredible golf courses not only during the school year but in summer tournaments as well. I traveled to places like New York, San Francisco, Utah, Alabama, and Chicago. I gained some valuable lessons on the golf course and met many interesting people along the way. I stayed with host families who welcomed me into their homes and treated me just like part of their family. I learned to navigate airports and find lost bags. I was honored to be selected Co-captain the South Team for Ben Hogan Cup Matches where I got to grip Ben Hogan s golf clubs and see his locker as it was. From Little Linksters to University of Houston amateur golf has had an incredible influence on my growth. I have realized that regardless of the location or level of play, the golf community for me has, and continues to be, represented by people with a sense of service, courtesy, and passion for growing the game. I am determined to carry on those traditions with me in golf and in life. I also donate to the Hannon Society to allow junior golfers who may not be able to go to college to get that opportunity to have a life changing experience. It is important to invest in our youth because they are the future, and I believe golf teaches everyone excellent lessons that can be used in life. Golf has taught me how to be successful and respect the game, and I know giving the opportunity to younger golfers will help their lives. I may not be able to help out much, but I feel my small contributions can have a large impact on a young golfer%u2019s life. I enjoy teaching and helping out others whenever I can. The lessons I have learned on the course have helped me become successful in the business world by teaching me honesty and integrity and a never quit attitude. These are all valuable lessons that can help young golfers to succeed in life. The investment made on the young golfers of today and the future can have an everlasting impact on society. That is the most important thing we can do as ambassadors of this great game is to grow the game and give young golfers the chance to have a life changing experience.
