2 2017 Golf Events Booklet Welcome to our 100th season at Minocqua Country Club! We look forward to an exciting season celebrating our Centennial! Please use this booklet as a guide to help you plan your summer, so that you can enjoy all of the golf events and activities you wish. Included in the booklet are the schedules for all major events, all weekly events, as well as special and holiday events. In addition, there is detailed information as to the event formats, how to register, and costs. You may also refer to the members only side of the Minocqua Club website ( for additional up-to-theminute information. Our Tournament Central menu takes you to the micro-site for each

4 2017 Weekly Events Women s Day The women play a weekly game on either Wednesday mornings or afternoons (refer to schedule on next page). Players are charged $60 at the beginning of the season for the weekly prizes and there is an optional skins game each week. Men s Day The men play a weekly game on Thursdays beginning with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM. Each week players put in $10 covering the weekly game, gross and net skins, and the trifecta. Players are also charged $75 at the beginning of the season which pays for weekly appetizers and special events. Friday Couples Golf A 1:00 PM shotgun is reserved on Fridays for those wanting to play golf with other couples. Various team games will be played followed by a great social experience featuring the club s Friday Night dining menu. Nine & Dine Enjoy casual golf with good friends while playing a 9-hole scramble beginning at 3:00 PM. Cocktails and dinner follow the golf. Golf Handicaps Handicaps at the club are maintained in the golf shop and are administered through the Wisconsin State Golf Association (WSGA). It is a requirement of the club that all members that wish to participate in club tournaments must keep an accurate handicap at the club. An annual handicap fee of $35 is charged to each member, which covers the costs billed to the club by the WSGA for handicap administration.

9 Memorial Day Golf Event The Memorial Day Golf Event is an open golf event for members and their guests playing golf on Memorial Day. The format is the 2 Net Best Balls of your group, and can be played at anytime during the day. $5 per Player. Father-Son Challenge On Father s Day we will be running an event for fathers and their sons and/or grandsons. The format is a combined 1 Net Best Ball of 2 PLUS the Final Round Score of the player of the team s choice in the 2017 U.S. Open. There will be a $30 charge for your first team and a $15 charge for each additional team. Independence Day Flag Game Anyone playing on the 4 th of July may participate in our annual flag game. Each player receives an American flag and a target score (based upon your course handicap) prior to teeing-off. Once you hit your target score, you place your flag on that spot where the ball stopped. In some cases, the player may have to continue an extra hole or two if he or she is playing well. Sign-up as you check-in for golf on the 4 th. $5 per Player Dr. Kate Hospice Pro-Am The Dr. Kate Hospice Pro-Am is an annual fundraiser hosted by the club. Teams are comprised of four amateurs and one professional playing in a 2 Best Balls of 5 competition. The club encourages its members to participate in this event and is proud to support the charity. Contact the Golf Shop to sign-up and for more information. Patriot Golf Day Patriot Golf Day is a 2 Best Ball of 4 team event open to any groups playing that day. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation. Patriot Golf Day is a national fundraising event that is promoted by the PGA of America, and is typically held during the Labor Day Weekend each year. Players will be charged a $30 entry fee. Half of your entry fee PLUS additional donations will be sent to the Folds of

10 2017 Battle of the Sexes June 2nd & 3rd The Battle of the Sexes is an annual competition between the men and women of the Minocqua Country Club. Each year a men s and women s captain is selected by the field and may play on each team. The captains will be responsible for forming the match-ups for each day s play. Any member interested may play, but he or she must sign-up by Sunday, May 28 th. After that time, additional players may be recruited to balance the number of players on each team. Each match will be a nine-hole Fourball format, meaning one team s NET best-ball against the NET best-ball of their opposing team. Each match is worth one-point. 11 2017 Men s Match Play The Match Play is a season long tournament. Any member of the club may sign up to participate, and each match has two weeks to be completed. It is the responsibility of the players to schedule the match within the time frame as indicated on the bracket. Sign-Up: Sign up in the Golf Shop by Sunday June 4 th. Match-ups will be determined by random draw on Monday June 5 th and will be posted in the locker room. All contestants will be contacted on Monday June 6 th with their match-up as well as the date it needs to be completed. Deadlines: Preliminary Matches June 19th Round of 32 Round of 16 Quarter-Finals Semi-Finals Finals July 3rd July 17th August 7th August 21st September 4th Entry Fee: $20 per Person Each player will receive 100% of his course handicap as determined from his OFFICIAL handicap index and the set of tees he selects. 13 North-South Classic Minocqua CC vs. Greenwood Hills CC Hosted in 2017 by Minocqua CC Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 This annual competition features 12 players from both clubs in a Ryder Cup style match for the Cup. Each match will last 9-holes and is worth 1 point. In the event of a tie, both teams will receive ½ point. 24 matches will be played, and it takes 16 ½ points to win the Cup outright. If there is a tie at the end of the competition, a representative from each side will hit a putt from a spot determined by the committee. The ball that stops closest to the hole will win the Cup for his team 2016 Champions Greenwood Hills CC

14 2017 Couples Championship Date: Sunday, July 9 th, 2017 Time: Format: 1:00 PM Shotgun Start Pinehurst (Hit, Switch, & Pick) Both players will tee off on each hole. Player A will then hit Player B s ball, and vice versa. From there, the best shot is selected and the player whose second shot was not selected hits from that spot. Continue to alternate until the ball is holed. Each team will receive 40% of their combined handicaps. Tees: All Men will play the Musky or Loon Course. All Women will play the Heron or Fox Course.
