Well, no mtter how ugly your gme is don t give up becuse tht hndicp buster lwys shows up when you lest expect it nd you still hve plenty of time to get redy for the club chmpionship. Remember, there re club, senior nd super senior divisions with both gross nd net ctegories to ply for. Along with the club chmpionship nd the Lughlin trip we re plnning to hold tem ply tryouts on the off Sturdys in October nd November. We will only hve one tem this yer, which will ply on Sturdys, nd we need plyers from 0 to 18.4 indexes to throw their hts in the ring. You will be getting more info next month on this. Most of us hve never been in the zone for more thn 2 or 3 holes, but working towrds it is hlf the fun so keep plugging wy. Should you be using belly or long putter? I ws n verge putter nd would hve both good nd bd dys like everyone else. I compre my stroke to Ben Crenshw or Phil Mickelson holding the putter fce squre through impct, but most of my putts would strt out bouncing towrd the hole. I hve been using the belly putter for the pst four to five yers nd it hs helped me relese the putter hed correctly. My putts do not strt off bouncing nd I get much truer roll. With the belly putter, it is hrd for me to mke bd putt. If you re experiencing problems with your putter, I would recommend the belly putter. It teches you the proper wy to relese the putter. I hve definitely become better nd more consistent putter using it. I do feel though tht the belly nd long putters should not be llowed becuse they re n id. It feels like cheting to me, but until they chnge the rule I will continue to use it. 4

5 Pst President & Rules Doug Peterson From the Pst Prez---Let me get this stright, you re plying in your very first PGA mjor, you re chsing the leder by few strokes on the lst dy, nd you re stnding on the pr 3, 15 th tee needing string of birdies to mke up ground nd you proceed to mke triple. Three holes to go nd you re down five with probbly ll hope of winning gone. Thus ws the sitution of Keegn Brdley s he pproched the 16 th tee t the Atlntic Athletic Club in the PGA Chmpionship. Lter, the leder, Json Dufner, is 4 under for the dy, four up on the field, with nothing but prs nd birdies nd he s cruising, mking it look esy s he steps to tht sme 15 th tee. Now the golf gods intervene. Dufner proceeds to bogey three in row, Brdley birdies his next two holes nd they both pr the very nerve rcking 507 yrd pr 4, 18 th to go to three hole plyoff, which Brdley wins. Both plyers were going in one direction nd then suddenly were going in nother. Both plyers hit gret shots nd bsolutely horrible shots in unique situtions. Both plyers were mjor rookies who plyed like sesoned vets nd then mjor rookies. This is the stuff of which golf lore is mde one winner, one well remembered. No one ws tlking bout Open winner Drren Clrk s 14 over to miss the cut, or Rory McIlroy the next you know who being19 strokes behind the leder t dys end it ws ll bout two rookies tempting the ftes in never give up fshion. It shows the mentl spect of the gme is eqully s importnt s swing plne, hip rottion, nd follow through nd tht the guys on TV cn mke bd decisions nd execution just like we do it just costs them more. Two other young guns to mke the hit it, find it, nd hit it gin news were Adm Scott who won the World Golf Chmpionship t Firestone C.C. with new cddy of some renown, nd Webb Simpson, two time runner up, who won the Wyndm Chmpionship in Greensboro. You might remember he ssessed himself penlty stroke on the 18 th hole in previous tournment when his tp in moved fter he hd grounded his putter. This infrction cost him chnce for his first tour victory nd tught us ll little bit more bout the rules nd integrity of the gme. Mny new nmes nd mny new winners re dominting the golf scene tody nd demonstrting the helth of the sport even without T or M being mentioned.
