2 Dear Selection Committee, It is with great pleasure that I apply for the 2015 Gene Borek Squire Cup Team. I never had the opportunity to meet or get to know Mr. Borek but I am surely aware of his status as a PGA member and here in the Metropolitan Section. His legacy of achievements has given me inspiration to follow in his footsteps. October 22 nd will be a great day honoring Mr. Borek as well as other PGA Professionals who have made the Met Section what it is today. It would be a true honor to once again be listed among the highly respected PGA Golf Professionals selected for this year s team. I have worked for and been inspired by two great professionals here in the Met Section. I am in my fourth season as First Assistant to Chris Case at Mount Kisco following two years working for 2015 Golf Professional of the Year Tom Henderson at Round Hill Club. Both of these gentlemen are decorated professional in their own rights and are ambassadors of the game. They have instilled these traits in me and have inspired me to become the professional I am today. I continue to grow and take on my role as a leader. I am currently serving as the President of the Assistant s Association following stints as Vice President and Secretary. I have helped on the Tournament & Junior Golf Committees and continue to volunteer as a PGA Apprentice Mentor. As an Assistant in the Met Section, a huge responsibility is placed on growing the game of golf, giving back to the community and taking care of the future of the game by building successful junior programs. One huge initiative that I am involved with is PGA Junior League. With the help of Jonathan Gold, Kelli Clayton and several others, I helped initiate and successfully complete the first ever Junior League Golf Section Championship this year here in the Met Section. The response to this program has been unbelievable and to be a part of its huge success has been very fulfilling. Along with continuing to grow our own junior program at Mount Kisco, I was also once again able to raise $1000 for junior golf. A great bonus to being in the Met Section is the Tournament Program. Unfortunately, fighting some injuries and spending time with my wife and two young girls has kept me away from playing in as many events as I would like to but I am looking forward to closing out the season with some success on the links. However, my time as an Assistant Board Member has given me the chance to meet and build relationships with other professionals and sponsors in the section as well as support the tournament program. I also love to attend and take full advantage of all the educational opportunities that the section offers. There is no better place to keep informed on section news, create networks, and learn from the best golf professionals, than here in the Met Section. Nothing we do at the club or in a tournament will ever impact the lives of others more than our dedication to service. This dedication extends beyond our club members to other golf professionals and individuals in the community. This year I donated a set of clubs for a graduate of the HOPE Program and have been influential in continuing to carrying out or participating in Patriot Golf Day events, as well as running successful campaigns for Arnie s Army and Play for P.I.N.K. I continue to build on the skills that I have learned from the many successful people here in the Met Section. I am a proud member of the Metropolitan PGA Section because of the people it encompasses and their dedication to service and the game. The accomplishment of being elected as a member of the 2015 Gene Borek Squire Cup would be a true honor. I thank you for spending the time and effort to review my application. 5 To the Selection Committee, It is my pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Dennis Dungee who has been my First Assistant Golf Professional at Mount Kisco Country Club since March Simply put, Dennis epitomizes what it is to be a golf professional. He genuinely loves his profession and each interaction with his members and fellow staff. His personality and confidence as well as his versatile skill set and experience, allow him to handle every situation gracefully. Moreover, he exudes the characteristics of a true gentlemen and professional in all facets of his life. Dennis involvement within the golf operation at Mount Kisco is extensive. I rely on him to administrate the men s and ladies events, clinics, scheduling, and assist me in the buying and merchandising. He is a passionate teacher and club fitter, as well as a solid player. However, the thing that I enjoy most is what staff members have gained from Dennis leadership and mentoring skills. I benefit in so many ways from having Dennis on our team and admire his consistency in always bringing his best to whatever task is at hand. I appreciate his willingness to go the extra mile and his efforts in making each individual feel important and cared for. He easily establishes relationships with those that he teaches as well as those he works with. Beyond Mount Kisco, Dennis has shown a lot of initiative, presently serving as the President of the Metropolitan Assistant s Association following his role as Vice President in 2014 and Secretary in He understands and values his role as an Assistant in the MET Section and constantly is striving to give back to the community. He continues to run a Junior Golf Raffle which has raised $1000 in each of the last three seasons. His commitment to Junior Golf went to another level this year with his involvement with our PGA Junior League team as well as his efforts in successfully coordinating the PGA Junior League Section Championship. Dennis continues to exceed my expectations and I am thrilled with the impact that he has made with his co-workers and our members. I truly believe that Dennis is one of the most well rounded assistant golf professionals in the Met Section.
