The Holidays are just around the corner and so are our elections for Board members. We really need support for the upcoming positions to the board. We all understand this is a volunteer board and it's time for you to support our chapter by either nominating yourself or another person to contribute. The following positions are up for voting for 2016: President Communication chairperson Golf chairperson and assistant Social chairperson and assistant Membership chairperson The new President elect will appoint the Secretary and Treasurer. I encourage everyone to consider one of the positions to help our chapter grow. It's your opportunity to join and become part of the solutions. We will only meet 10 times a year and most likely in the evenings. ~Bruce Misko Golf Handicap Chair Continuing with our series of excerpts from the USGA Handicap Manual: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers on The USGA Handicap System Q: If I haven t played in several years, may I start over with a new Handicap Index? A: Not necessarily. A player does not have a Handicap Index until the next scheduled handicap revision. The club s Handicap Committee may issue a Handicap Index M sooner if at least five scores exist in the player s scoring record. Contact the club s Handicap Committee for assistance in this regard. If the scoring record is unavailable when resuming play, the player has no Handicap Index until five scores have been posted and a handicap revision passes. Q: What if I belong to two or more clubs; should I have the same Handicap Index? A: All scores must be posted to all golf clubs. If the clubs use the same computation service, a player may register with the service as a multi-member and post scores at the club where the player has played. The handicap computation service will combine all acceptable scores into one scoring record. If the clubs do not use the same computation service, the player has the responsibility of posting all scores to all clubs. Accurate posting to all clubs will result in the same Handicap Index at each club. Q: Can I use an online service to establish a Handicap Index? A: A Handicap Index is issued only through licensed golf clubs, and the online service would need to have a golf club established following all elements of the USGA Handicap System and like all golf clubs, it would have to be licensed by the USGA to issue a Handicap Index to its members. A golf club can obtain a license agreement directly from the USGA or through its membership in an authorized golf association that is already licensed by the USGA and that has jurisdiction in the geographic area that includes the principal location of the golf club. ~Steve Hall Membership Chair Three of our awesome ASGA-Orlando ladies aka EWGA members competed in the annual EWGA Cup Southeast Regionals Sept at the fabulous Tiburon Resort in Naples, Florida. 128 ladies 16 teams of 8 from EWGA Regional Chapters competed in a two-day competition of four ball match play Saturday and singles match play on Sunday. Teams with highest scores are advancing to the EWGA Cup Finals and will compete against EWGA Chapters from all National Chapters. The competition will be in November at the beautiful Reunion Resort in Orlando. ASGA-Orlando members who competed were Carolyn Aldorfer, Debby Davis and Pam Russell, all on different Orlando Teams. The team that Carolyn was on was one half point out of placing for the Finals!, but boy did they have fun! We wish all of the EWGA Orlando Teams well and especially Debby and Pam in their competition in November. Good luck ladies! By the time this is published, the ASGA- Orlando Florida Cup results should be in. GO ASGA ORLANDO TEAMS! DO YOUR BEST TO RETURN THE PRECIOUS CUP TO ORLANDO AND HAVE FUN! ~Carolyn Aldorfer Golf Chair Due to the departure of Dave Graham from the Golf Chair position, I am filling in to be sure that we have golf events planned for the remainder of the year. Any input from chapter members with ideas or requests to play particular courses would be most appreciated! Upcoming Golf Dates: October 3-4. ASGA Orlando members will be competing in the Florida Cup tournament at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach; October 11, Debary CC, $35 PT. Starting time TBD. October 17, Harmony CC, $35 PT range balls included. First starting time 9:30 October 25, Orange County National Crooked Cat Course. $39 PT range balls included. First starting time 9:36. ~Bob Driscoll Acting Golf Chair Social Chair A group of our members enjoyed a very nice social get-together on September 24 at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. Although we didn t get the turnout of Meetup members that we had hoped for, we plan to invite our Meetup group friends to join us for other social events in the future. Our annual Christmas party has been scheduled! It will be held on Friday, December 11, at The Country Club at Deer Run.
