1 November 2014 VOL 34, No. 2 PRESIDENT'S REPORT Hello all and welcome back to our beautiful Resort! I am happy to report the tennis court project is moving along as scheduled. Weather permitting, the tennis players will be playing on new courts by mid-december! Our VVVVTP and the Water Plant permits have both been renewed. Thanks to John Crummey, all of maintenance, the office staff, and Gordon Hartshorn for their hard work! Your efforts, in caring for the facilities, and compiling all of the information provided as required to SWFWMD, Polk County, the DEP, and to Excel Engineering, are noticed and appreciated! I also want to thank the Board, the management, and the Security staff for their dedication in taking care of the needs of the Corporation, and the safety and well being of the community. I and the Board would like to send our condolences to the family of Bobby Elkins of #5 Queen of Waters. Bobby passed away on October 6, He was a trusted Security officer for Saddlebag for many years, as well as a wonderful neighbor and friend. His diligence and expertise on the staff will be missed very much, but more importantly, we lost a wonderful man who loved his family and his community very much. To Evelyn and the entire family, God be with you in this difficult time and may God rest Bobby's soul. Respectfully, Pete Braden, President 17 Queen of Waters MANAGER'S CORNER Hello and welcome back to all who are escaping the northern winter as we continue to enjoy the splendid fall weather hear in sunny Florida! It is my sincere hope that all of you had a wonderful summer with family and friends. The Board, the staff, and the management have been very busy taking care of Saddlebag business, as usual. The tennis courts are moving along as planned. The fence at the maintenance yard has been replaced. The maintenance department has been diligently mowing, edging, weed eating, mulching, edging and sweeping the streets, as well as completing the stripping and waxing of the clubhouse floor. D & D Tree has done some tree trimming throughout the resort, and JCW Services has done some pressure cleaning, painting and repairs at the front office and at the beach house, painted all tire stops, concrete islands, and some curbing on the roadways. They also cleaned up the boat ramp, replaced the "NO WAKE" signs in the lagoon, painted and replaced some guideposts, and cleaned out the weeds and algae growing at the boat dock behind the slips. Foot Painting painted and sealed the floor in the exercise building. You will notice the pool and spa hours are now 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for your enjoyment. Also, since the divider wall in Memorial Hall is completed, the Clubs and individuals who book the Hall for their functions and events will now have much more privacy in the main rooms. 5 LIBRARY Comments from the Library The Library will be open on Monday and Thursday, 10 am to Noon during November, except Thanksgiving. Thank you for your donations to the Library. They allow us to purchase new DVDs and books. If you have a request for a new book or DVD, leave a note with the librarian on duty. Louise Shirkey Head Librarian Barbara Marksbury 5 Night Owl Circle GREETING CARD BOX Welcome back to all of the "snowbirds" that have returned to our beautiful Resort. We are in full swing delivering cards to friends and neighbors. Summer has been slow, but things are picking up very fast. We have one reminder that people need to remember and that is the fact that we ONLY deliver greeting cards. (Such as: birthday, get well anniversary, sympathy, etc.) Please deliver your own party invitations, dinner invites or anything other than a greeting card. We have received many party invites already this year that had to be returned to the sender. It's just not fair to ask our volunteers to deliver things of that nature. Remember: No return address, no delivery. A big "thank you" goes to all of those that are so willing to "pitch in" whenever I call for your help. Christmas is coming and that is a huge undertaking, but with all of your assistance, it makes a big job so worthwhile for those on the receiving end. If you are interested in helping, please call and I will get your name on the list. Jaye Wright 11 Beaverkill Johnny: Dad, what is influence? Dad: Influence, my son, is a thing you think you have until you try to use it. GOLF CLUB Our first meeting will be the first Wednesday of the month. People who know how to let all their warm feelings show. People that others feel lucky to know. 10

17 1-1-1ANU YIDIUs I want to thank all of the friends and neighbors here in Saddlebag who took the time to send thoughts, prayers, and memorials for Charlie Soule during his illness and at his death. His family and I are indebted to you all, and especially to all the friends and neighbors on Woodruff Way who have purchased a Memorial Plaque for the Memory Garden for their "mayor". I know he's touched and proud, as am I. I look forward to seeing you all as the cool weather brings you back to this special place-and may God bless you all. Thank you. Patty Soule Dear Saddlebag Resort "Family": We are truly wrapped in prayers and caring! Thank you for your wonderful support. We keep all your prayers close to us as we traverse this journey. We know there will be "bumps", but your support helps us to realize they are small and temporary-even when we sometimes wonder. Thank you so much.
