1 May 5, 2008 Hawks Compete at Southern California Regional Championships San Jacinto, CA- Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) represented the Santiago Canyon College men's golf team at the Southern California Regional Championships Monday afternoon at the par-72 Country Club at Soboba Springs. SCC sophomore Gavin Foster at the 2008 Southern California Regional Championships. Foster finished the 36-hole competition in a tie for 18th place with a total score of 148 (78-70). Hall shot a two-round total of 153 (73-80) to finish in a threeway tie for 43rd place. John San Juan of Cypress College earned medalist honors with a low score of 140 (69-71). The top four teams in the tournament qualify to play in the state championship round, while the top six individual scores not from those teams also qualify to advance. Moorpark College took home first place team honors with a total score of 735, followed by College of the Canyons, Cypress College and Saddleback College all with a score of 741. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) shot a 36-hole total of 138 to earn comedalist honors and advance to the Southern California Regional Championships next week at Soboba Springs Golf Club in San Jacinto. Foster finished with a 4- under-par 68 on the North Course and a 2-under-par 70 on the South Course. Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) also earned a trip to the regionals as he birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff to defeat Aaron Levine from Irvine Valley College. Hall finished his day with a 2-over-par 146 (73-73). Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) shot a solid round of 148 (75-73) in his final match for the Hawks (4-12 OEC). Saddleback College shot a total team round of 717 to take team honors, followed by Cypress College at 722 and Santa Ana College at 731. Overall, Saddleback won conference play with a record of Raj Samra of Cypress was named co-medalist as he matched Foster with a 138 (70-68). April 14, 2008 SCC Men's Golf Drops Conference Match to Palomar San Marcos, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team dropped an Orange Empire Conference match to host Palomar College Monday afternoon at the par-72 Twin Oaks Golf Course. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each finished with a 3-over-par 75 to lead the Hawks (4-11 OEC). April 9, 2008 SCC Narrowly Drops OEC Contest to Santa Ana Chino Hills, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team shot its best team round of the season but it wasn't enough as host Santa Ana College came away with the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory at the par-72 Los Serranos Golf Course. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with six birdies to shoot his lowest round of the season at 4-under-par 68 to lead SCC. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) each shot a 1-over-par 73 to chip in for the Hawks, while sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) finished at 75 (+3). Freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) and Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) each shot a 76 (+4) to round out the scoring. Trevor Jones shot a 9-under-par 63 to lead Santa Ana to victory. Cypress College shot a 361 to defeat the Dons, while Orange Coast College shot a 370. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. April 7, 2008 Hawks Downed by Orange Empire Conference Rivals Chino, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team fell to 4-9 in the Orange Empire Conference with losses to Saddleback College, Orange Coast College and Cuyamaca College Monday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. Saddleback and Orange Coast shot a team round of 368, followed by Cuyamaca at 373 and SCC at 376. SCC hosted the match and was the only team to compete head-to-head with other teams. Tony Lee of Orange Coast earned medalist honors with a 4-under-par 68. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) led the Hawks with a 2-under-par round of 70 as he finished his day with three birdies and only one bogey. Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) finished with a 2-over-par 74 to shoot his best round of the season to date. March 31, 2008 SCC Men's Golf Falls to Cypress in OEC Match Cypress, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men's golf team lost an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match to host Cypress College Monday afternoon at the par-72 Navy Golf Course facility. The Chargers also defeated Irvine Valley College (381) and Riverside Community College (417) to pick up three conference victories. In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams.

Sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) earned medalist honors with a 3-under-par round of 104 to lead the Hawks. Foster finished his round with seven birdies, while Glenn collected three birdies and an eagle. Other scores for SCC included freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) at 110, sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 113 and freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) at 117. Ventura College finished in first place with a team score of 542, while Rio Hondo shot a 566, Glendale College shot a 580 and Irvine Valley College shot a 586. Troy Davis of Irvine Valley also shot a 104 to earn medalist honors. March 17, 2008 SCC Finishes 10th at Canyons Invitational Oxnard, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team shot a total team round of 396 to finish in 10th place out of 16 teams at the 2008 Canyons Invitational held at the par-72 River Ridge Golf Club. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) led the Hawks with an even-par round of 72 as he finished in the top eight in the 96 player field. Glenn's round was

March 12, 2008 Hawks Drop Close Non-Conference Match to Rio Hondo Chino, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team dropped a close non-conference match to Rio Hondo College Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) led the Hawks with a 2-over-par round of 74. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with a 3-over-par 75, followed by sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) at 76, sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 77, and freshmen Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) and Lyon Lazare at 79. March 10, 2008 Hawks Host Conference Match at El Prado Chino, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team hosted Palomar College, Cypress College and Riverside City College Monday afternoon in an Orange Empire Confernence match at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. The Hawks finished with a total team score of 368 as all five players finished in the 70's. SCC dropped matches against Palomar (363) and Cypress (367), but came away with a victory over Riverside (404). In conference play, the host team is the only squad to compete head-to-head with other teams. Sophomore Austin Glenn led the Hawks (El Dorado HS) with a 2-under-par round of 70, followed by Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) with an even-par round of 72. Other scores for SCC included Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) at 74, Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) at 75 and Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 77. March 5, 2008 Hawks Improve to 3-2 in Conference with Victories over Santa Ana and Irvine Valley Chino, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) mens' golf team improved to 3-2 in the Orange Empire Conference with victories over Santa Ana College and Irvine Valley College Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 El Prado Golf Course. The Hawks shot a total team round of 369, followed by the Dons at 371 and Lasers at 379. SCC freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished with five birdies to shoot a 1-under-par round of 71 as he earned co-medalist honors. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with an even-par round of 72 for the second consecutive match, while fellow sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and freshman Lyon Lazare each finished with a 2-over-par 74. Sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) shot even over the last eight holes to finish with a 6-over-par 78. SCC finished 2-under-par as a team on the 18th hole to come away with the narrow victory over Santa Ana. Daren Johnson shot a 71 to lead the Dons.
5 March 3, 2008 Sophomore Duo Lead SCC Men's Golf to First Conference Win Riverside, CA-Sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) both finished with an even-par round of 72 to lead the Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team to a victory over host Riverside College Monday morning at the par-72 Victoria Country Club. After a triple-bogey on the first hole, Glenn rallied to finish his final 17 holes with three birdies and 14 pars. Monday marked the lowest conference round for Glenn and Foster this season. Freshman Lyon Lazare finished with a 6-over-par round of 78, followed by freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) at 79 and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 83. Hall finished his day with five birdies. With the win, the Hawks improved to 1-2 in the Orange Empire Conference. February 29, 2008 Hawks Defeat Rio Hondo in Non-Conference Match City of Industry, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team defeated Rio Hondo College in a non-conference match Friday afternoon on the par-71 Zaharias Course at the Industry Hills Golf Club. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) finished with a 8-over-par round of 80 to lead the Hawks. Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) shot an 81, followed by freshman Lyon Lazare and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) who each finished with an 82. 6 February 25, 2008 SCC Opens Conference Play Against Cuyamaca El Cajon, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team took on Cuyamaca College in its Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener Monday afternoon at the par-72 Oak Glen Golf Course. The Hawks shot a total team score of 394 led by medalist Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) who finished with a season-low round of 72. Hall finished with four birdies on the afternoon. Cuyamaca finished with a low team-score of 387 to earn victories over SCC and Riverside (413). In conference play, the home team is the only team to compete head-to-head with other squads. Other scores for SCC included sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) at 76, freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) with an 84 and sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) with an 86. Next: The Hawks will take on Irvine Valley College on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the par-72 Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine. Play is set to begin at noon. February 15, 2008 SCC Finishes in 10th Place at Rio Hondo Open Whittier, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team finished in 10th place out of 18 teams with a total team score of 386 at the 2008 Rio Hondo Open held at the par-72 California Country Club. Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) led the Hawks with a 4-over-par round of 76. February 6, 2008 SCC Men's Golf Places Eighth at Tee-Off Classic Chino Hills, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team finished in eighth place with a total team score of 770 at the 2008 Tee-Off Classic held at Los Serranos Golf Course (par 72/74). Sophomore Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) led the Hawks as he finished in 10th place overall with a 148 (73-75). Freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished close behind Glenn with a 150 (76-74), followed by sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) at 154 (73-81). Other scores for SCC included freshman Curtis Arbarca (El Dorado HS) at 156 (80-76), sophomore Grant Wilson (El Modena HS) at 157 (82-75), freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) at 160 (81-80) and sophomore Mike Mahi (Orange HS) at 172. Cypress College took first place honors with a team score of 743, while Abraham Lee from College of the Canyons won individual honors with a 143 (71-72).
7 January 28, 2008 Hawks Open Season with Fourth Place Finish at Victor Valley Invitational Victorville, CA-The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) men s golf team shot a total team score of 232 at the Victor Valley Invitational Monday afternoon at a cold and windy Spring Valley Lake Country Club. Teams competed in a two-man best ball format made up of three pairings from each college. Sophomores Austin Glenn (El Dorado HS) and Grant Wilson (El Modena) led SCC with a total round of 73. Sophomore Gavin Foster (Mater Dei HS) and freshman Kyle Hall (Foothill HS) finished at 77, while sophomore Michael Mahi (Orange HS) and freshman Kevin Harter (El Dorado HS) shot an 82 to round out the scoring for the Hawks. Ventura College took first place honors with a team score of 220, followed by College of the Desert at 224 and Santa Ana College at 225. SCC will return to action on Monday, Feb. 4 to compete in the Tee Off Classic at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills, CA.
