1 CELEBRATING 18 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Sacramento, CA Chapter - American Singles Golf Association April 2011 TURKEY CREEK Is APRIL 16 th WOW, have we had the winter and spring rains. Three of our last four golf outings have been rained out. We had December at Empire Ranch, February (twice) at Haggin Oaks and now March at River Oaks all done in by Mother Nature. So we will try again at Turkey Creek on Saturday, April 16 th. The fees for the event are $52 and that includes golf, cart and prize fund. We will begin play at 1 pm and those who would like to go out to dinner afterward, we will find a spot in Lincoln. Turkey Creek is ranked as one of the best public courses in the area and we have not played it in sometime, so this is your chance to get out with the group on a real nice course. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, and we will have a great day and a good turnout. The DEADLINE for signing up is Friday, April 8 th and this is a PRE PAY, so get your checks in to the PO Box by that date. WINE COUNTRY WEEKEND Our Wine Country Weekend is May 21 st and 22 nd, and the deadline for payment is May 1 st as all payments for the dinner and the golf must be made in advance to the hotel and the golf course. This is a great deal for $120 for golf two days with cart, prize fund and a banquet on Saturday night. If you haven t decided, you should soon. There are many lodging possibilities including the hotel right at the course. So get your money in this month and if your staying at the hotel on Saturday night, get your reservations by April 15 th to take advantage of the good rate. If you do not want to stay there, there are many other possibilities along Highway 101 in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa. We already have a few participants from other chapters signed up so hopefully we will have a good turnout from our own chapter. SACRAMENTO ASGA WINE COUNTRY WEEKEND This year the Sacramento Chapter of ASGA is going to sponsor a spring weekend golf getaway, in addition to our annual fall getaway. We have picked the Sonoma County Wine Country as our destination and we are inviting all ASGA members to join us, especially those in the western portion of the country. President Doris A. This is in the community of Rohnert Park, just south of Santa Rosa. The event will include golf at Foxtail, Saturday on the North Course and Sunday on the South Course, plus dinner at the adjoining Doubletree Hotel. Play will begin on Saturday the 21 st at noon allowing people to arrive on Saturday morning and have to only stay one night. Sunday play will begin at 10:30 AM. The cost for this package is $120, a great deal when you consider two rounds of golf, including cart and prize fund, plus dinner with your choice of three entrees. Entrees include salad and dessert and are Bistro steak, Prosciutto Chicken or Cheese Tortellini. DEADLINE for registration and payment: MAY 1st Lodging is not included but we have a block of rooms at the Doubletree, at $109 for Saturday night per room. Rooms can sleep one or two, so if you can get a roommate, you cut your cost in half. You make your lodging reservations separately and directly with the hotel. 4 CELEBRATING 18 YEARS OF SINGLESGOLF IN AMERICA AMERICAN SINGLES GOLF ASSOCIATION APRIL, 2011 Event Dates: Thursday, May 26 Sunday, May 29, 2011 With great excitement and anticipation, we re happy to announce our continued association with the fine folks at Pinehurst Resort in announcing our Reunion in Pinehurst. The Reunion on Memorial Day Weekend has shown to be ASGA s largest-attended event each year with attendance soaring over 400 in years past. It s a great time to see old friends and meet friends you never thought you had. Dates set for this year are May 26-29, a Thursday through Saturday (we polled you and that s what you wanted!). We asked Pinehurst to price this event as if you walked-in on your own and wanted the same exact package on the same dates. Our packages start at $515 per person, based on double occupancy and $674 per person based on single occupancy, which includes all taxes, resort service fees, gratuities for wait and bell staff, etc. Also, ASGA will rebate to your chapter $20.00 per attendee if your chapter sends 10% or more of your membership (as of 5/26/11) to this event. Hawaii Trip Was Fun, Relaxing Our group had not been to Hawaii in a couple of years and it was time for us to go. Twenty-eight of us ventured to Maui-land for seven days of fun, fellowship and beautiful fairways. We played the Wailea courses located near the Fairmont Hotel. Generally, the weather cooperated and so did the seven men who accompanied the 21 women. (Hey, we had a man in each foursome, who can complain?) Kay Reisz had a two-inch closest-to-pin. It was, without a doubt, the shot of the week. Members snorkeled, rode bikes down the side of the volcano, went whale hunting, oops, I m sorry, whale watching, a authentic luau and did many other things to make their daze. As our wheels left the runway, the seven-foot tsunami hit the island. Everyone made it back home safely. We ll head back to Hawaii, most likely in February, 2013, so start saving those beads! New members joining ASGA who have addresses on file with us will automatically receive their newsletter in electronic form (e-newsletter).
