The Ramblers turned in the top team round of the final day (318) to bring their 54-hole total to 963 ( ). Loyola finished dead even with Butler ( =963) atop the team leaderboard. The Bulldogs claimed the event's team title via a tiebreaker based off the final round score of each team's number five golfer. Southern Illinois' Brooke Cusumano carded a four-over-par 76 to earn medalist honors with a 232 ( ) as she narrowly edged out Brown, who came in second at 233 ( ). Staed led the way for the Maroon & Gold over the final 18 holes at the Flossmoor Country Club (par 72, 6,112 yards). The Green Bay, Wis. product fired a five-over-par 77 that moved her up into a tie for seventh with a 241 ( ). Bowser and Brown were just a stroke off the junior's pace as each turned in a 78. Bowser, out of Dearborn, Mich., earned a share of fifth at 237 ( ), while Brown, a native of Lafayette, Ind., finished in the aforementioned runner-up spot in her collegiate debut. A pair of seniors rounded out the Rambler starting lineup. Natalie Meyers finished in sole-possession of 38th with a 261 ( ), while Logan Willis finished in a tie for 26th with a total of 254 ( ). Leading the way for Loyola's quartet of individuals at Flossmoor was junior Summer Moser. The Lutz, Fla. native finished tied for 15th at 248 ( ). Also in action was freshman Sara Padilla ( =252; T-22nd), sophomore Madeline Neumeier ( =269; T-43rd) and junior Caroline Smith ( =275; 47th). The women return to action this week at the MVC Preview in Cape Girardeau, MO.

3 Page 3 Message from Coach Hoops Hello Rambler Golf Fans! Our fall season is in full swing, and we are right in the middle of a 5 week stretch of high level tournaments weekend after weekend. Our guys are really looking forward to the next two events. Cleveland State has long been a favorite of this program, and then we tee it up at one of the best courses in the Chicago area at Beverly Country Club for the NIU Invitational. Top 5 ranked Illinois will be competing, so we will see how we match up against the very best! We have had some mixed feelings about our first few events, mainly because we obviously didn t finish how we would have liked right out of the gate. However, if we dig deeper into the numbers, I still see us improving greatly from past years. During each of our first two tournaments, we had a stretch of about 9-12 holes where we made a bunch of birdies as a team and went skyrocketing up leaderboards. This is the kind of firepower I have not seen on this team since I arrived to campus, and it reminds me of the team we had back in my playing days. The difference is those other stretches during events. The best college golf teams are the ones that can find a way to fight and grind out some pars on the harder stretches of golf courses and when their swing may not feel great. I talk with the guys very frequently about how to get through those moments, because I believe those stretches aren t solved by hitting hundreds and hundreds of balls, but rather changing some mindsets about the game. We have been off to a great start this season. Practice every week includes many short game drills and practice, full swing work and on course rounds for qualifying. I have been able to see everyone perform now in a fun setting such as practices as well as in tournament conditions. Our last tournament went exceedingly well. We hosted our home event at Flossmoor Country Club. All players competed in the event. The team ended up tied with Butler after 54 holes. Ramblers came in second. Morgan Brown, one of our freshmen, placed second individually in our home tournament as well. I am looking forward to the MVC Preview coming up this weekend. It will show us where we stand along side the other Valley teams. I am optimistic that we will finish at the top again like we did in the last tournament. We have two more tournaments to finish up the season in Ohio after this weekend and then into the off season grind with conditioning and lots of detailed practice. We have such a great team culture this year with everyone making big strides in both their games and academics. 4 Page 4 Loyola Golf Monthly Men s Golf Finishes 11th at DePaul, 13th at Northern Kentucky The Loyola Men s Team got its fall season started with two events in the past month at the Dallio Invitational, hosted by DePaul, and the NKU Fall Classic. The Ramblers closed play at the Dallio in 11th place ( =944). Host DePaul ( =893) held off Bradley ( =896) to claim the team title, while the Braves Ethan Brue ( =216) used a two-under-par round of 70 to walk away with medalist honors. Bonema finished strong in his first college event to claim 28th, the top finish for a Rambler, at 232 ( ). Freshman Justin LaFrance posted a great second round to match Buckley in 40th with a 237 ( ). Sophomore Zach Hoskins earned a share of 53rd at 240 ( ), while sophomore Orion Yamat rounded out the Rambler starting five and his total of 246 ( ) placed the Niles, Ill. native in 65th. Garret Buckley turned in his top 18-hole score of the event to close out play. The Novi, Mich. product fired a four-over-par 76 that vaulted him into a tie for 40th with a three-round tally of 237 ( ). Nick Freshman Nick Bonema leads the Ramblers this season with a scoring average of 76.7 The Ramblers then took to Batavia, Ohio for the NKU Fall Classic, finishing in 13th place of 17 teams at the event, posting a 54 -hole total of 907 ( ). Dayton ( =859) ran away from the rest of the field to claim the team title, while Oakland's Devin Jenkins ( =213) defeated the Flyers' Phillip Johnson ( =213) and Joe Duchateau ( =213) of Green Bay in a four-hole playoff to claim medalist honors. The team had a very balanced attack, as all five players posted some of their lowest career totals as Ramblers. Hoskins, a native of Orlando, Fla., was Loyola's top finisher at the event as he tied for 32nd at 225 ( ). Yamat carded his top 18-hole score of the young season to close play in Southern Ohio. The Niles, Ill. product Zach Hoskins led the Ramblers at NKU, finishing in a tie for 32nd drained a team-best 14 putts for par the final day as he claimed a share of 46th with a 227 ( ), while Bonema, out of Troy, Mich., posted a 228 ( ) to tie for 50th. Junior Garret Buckley finished alongside Bonema as part of a four-way tie for 50th. The Novi, Mich. native finished at 228 ( ) as well. Freshman Justin LaFrance rounded out the Rambler lineup as he tied for 76th with a 235 ( ). The Ramblers return to action this week at the Cleveland State Invitational. Women s Golf Finishes 13th at Redbird Invitational Loyola recorded a team score of =945 at the D.A. Weibring Golf Club (par 72, 6,090 yards) to claim 13th place in the team standings. Boston College ( =890) used a final-round 293 to edge out Northern Illinois ( =892) for the team title. Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry fired a four-under-par 68 to run away with medalist honors, compiling a three-round tally of 208 ( ). Jessie Staed and Elayna Bowser turned in the top showings of the event for the Maroon & Gold in Central Illinois. Staed, out of Green Bay, Wis., finished in a tie for 33rd to close the event at 233 ( ). Bowser, the Dearborn, Mich. native's 76 final round, which was highlighted by an eagle on the fifth hole, saw her finish play with a 54-hole total of 233 ( ) to tie for 33rd. Sophomore Madeline Neumeier finished just a stroke behind Staed on the day. The Green Bay, Wis. product tied her 18-hole career low by carding an 80 to finish with a 250 ( ), tied for 82nd. Senior Logan Willis notched an 81 that moved her into a tie for 68th at 244 ( ), while junior Caroline Smith rounded out the Rambler lineup with her total of 246 ( ) and claimed a share of 77th place.

Qualified for the state meet in all four years of her high school career, notching a career-best sixth-place finish as senior as she posted a 74.9 stroke average... Helped lead Lafayette Central Catholic to a trio of Hoosier Conference Championships under the direction of head coach Angie Brown... Notched victories at a Golfweek Junior Tour event at Hueston Woods and the Central Masters at Ulen Country Club in IHSAA Honorable Mention Academic All-State honoree. Sara Padilla; Scottsdale, AZ Four-time qualifier for the state meet at Pinnacle High School for Head Coach Charlie Wilde... Claimed a topten finish at the 2015 Arizona High School Girls State Championship... Helped lead team to a pair of runnerup finishes in 2013 and Took fifth at the 2015 Antigua National Championship... Earned a share of sixth at the 2015 Arizona State Junior Golf Championship... Named Female Athlete of the Week by the Arizona Republic... The Loyola Golf Excellence Fund is a chance to help the Men s and Women s golf programs with some of their current needs and help with some of their future plans. Being at Loyola, there is not always an adequate budget to do some of the things that bigger programs are able to do, and everyone included in this newsletter list wants the program to improve as well. Sometimes that requires a bigger investment. We want everyone to be a part of our future here at Loyola, and the Loyola Golf Excellence Fund is a way to help us get to where we would like to go. The idea is to have many hands help with the progress, and not have to place the burden on a select few. Your contribution to the team will also get you invited to many other functions the team will be putting on in the coming years (outings, celebrations, trips, etc.). This newsletter will always keep you notified on these events. I believe it is important for the team to meet you, shake your hand, and share your stories about Loyola, both past and present.
