1 MINUTES WILDWOOD GOLF CLUB Wednesday, IN ATTENDANCE: M. Minnaugh - President M. Scott - First Vice President M. Wickett - Second Vice President D. Hagerman, Jr. - Treasurer J. Devita - Secretary J. Lagnese W. Quinlan J. Tulino M. Lamagna V. Daversa - General Manager R. Borza - Controller ABSENT I. CALL TO ORDER President Minnaugh called the meeting to order at 5:59 pm. II. APPROVAL OF LAST MONTH'S MINUTES The minutes from the meeting that was held on February 22, 2012 were approved. III. GENERAL MANAGER S REPORT Mr. Daversa extended an offer to Sean Perrucci for the position of Clubhouse Manager. Mr., Perrucci has accepted the position. Mr. Perrucci will start on April 2, Mr. Daversa plans on blending the responsibilities and duties of the Clubhouse and Service Manager. Mr. Daversa will announce Sean Perrucci s hiring to the Membership within the next few days. Mr. Minnaugh thanked Mr. Quinlan for participating in the search process as well. The office relocation is complete. Harry McBride and his staff did a great job of moving furniture and file cabinets as well as re-routing phone and computer lines. The first floor office space has been transformed into a small meeting room and storage. It was suggested that the new room be named The Founders Room. The Board agreed and asked Mr. Daversa to procure an appropriate nameplate for the space. Mr. Daversa attended and passed the Certified Pool Operator course. Harry McBride and Vince Daversa are both Certified Pool Operators.
2 Page 2 A contract has been agreed upon and executed with Course Trends who will be our new web-site provider. Club Essentials, our current provider has been notified and has agreed to archive our current website for future reference. The Golf book is at Print Tech. Bernie Hough and Vince Daversa have reviewed and made corrections. The final copy should be ready for print within two weeks. The Yardage book is moving a little slower but should be ready for submission within a few days. The goal is to have both books by opening day on April 21 st, The income from the yardage book will be recognized in March, The Chair Lift was ordered more than a month ago. Accessibility by Para Mutual informs us that we should have delivery of the Lift by the end of April, Rich Borza and Vince Daversa are in contact with the company and monitoring the situation. Mr. Minnaugh, Mr. McBride, Mr. Materkowski and Mr. Daversa have a conceptual idea of the design plan for the area of the chair lift. IV. PRESIDENT S REMARKS Mr. Minnaugh asked that the Committee Chairman go over the high points of their reports and he would note any comments at that time. V. COMMITTEE REPORTS A. House Committee Mr. Quinlan The deck furniture is available for the back and side deck whenever we are ready. Plans are being made to refresh the decks before we get the patio furniture. Mr. Daversa is to send out a reminder of the Dress code policy to all members. Management needs to enforce the dress code. The members that are parking their cars outside the pro shop and loading dock areas will be asked not to do so. We are still having some issues with the smoking in the 19 th hole. A member will be
3 Page 3 helping with some alternatives for the smoke issue. The doors need to be kept shut in the 19 th Hole at all times, which is being reinforced with the staff. B Pool Mr. Devita Since the Committees meeting it has come to Mr. Devita s attention that there are some repair issues that need addressed. Four ports need to be replaced on the filter, a vacuum needs to be purchased and the slide needs replaced. Also Mr. Daversa has indicated the handicap accessibility needs to be addressed. The cost could be around $13,000. Mr. Devita meet with Mr. McBride about the possibility of a permanent bar at the pool. Mr. McBride suggested a bar on castors in the event someone would want to rent the pavilion for a function. C Membership Mr. Wickett The Prospective New Member Reception is Sunday March 25, 2012 from 3pm to 7 pm. Board and Committee members are all invited. The Golf and Tennis professionals, GM and Superintendent will all be asked to attend. Mr. Wickett would like to remove the 5 mile radius stipulation on the clergy classification. Recommendation to remove 5 mile radius stipulation on the Clergy membership 2 nd Mr. Devita
4 Page 4 The Membership Committee recommends that if a Limited Golf member plays in the Tuesday 9 Hole Swats, it does not count against the monthly round total. This would drive participation in the Tuesday Swats including additional food and beverage revenue. It also gets our Limited Golfers to think about upgrading. Recommendation for Tuesday night 9 Hole Swats not to count against Limited Golf monthly round total. Other items to be costed and brought back for further discussion. Dr. Lagnese 2 nd E Grounds and Greens Mr. Scott XGD was planning on doing drainage work on hole #11 April 12, This was too late and planned on moving this work to the fall. Mr. Materkowski received a call and they told him they were available to do work April 2-3, Since this work was previously approved, Mr. Scott notified the Board that he had authorized the Superintendent to proceed and Hole #11 will be closed for two days.
7 Page 7 On March 16, 2012 the electricity was restored to the Pine Creek pump station. As time permits the grounds crew will evaluate and make repairs to the pipeline. Spring aerification will be done March 26, 27, and 28, Recovery will depend on the weather. F Golf Dr. Lagnese Rege Claus would like to have a Friday outing on June 29, There would be players. Mr. Claus would have lunch then a 1:15 1:30 shotgun followed by drinks and hor douvres. Mr. Hough assured that this could be accommodated. Recommendation that the Board approves Rege Claus s Friday June 29, 2012 Golf Outing. Mr. Scott 2 nd The Golf Committee had a long discussion regarding open weekend tee times during the Members Only tee time from 7 10am. The discussion was who should be able to play during these open times. There were many views but the Committee felt it was appropriate to open these tee times to spouses and family guests. The Committee recommended open tee times from 9-10 can be booked after 2 pm the day before. Spouses can book tee times, spouses and members may bring non junior family members and family guests. There will continue to be no regular guests allowed in this Member Only time. The Committee will revisit this and evaluate the success and impact of opening the Member Only weekend tee times. Motion to accept recommendation opening weekend Member Only tee times from 9-10am to spouses and Family Guests that can only be booked after 2 pm the day before. Mr. Wickett 2 nd
8 Page 8 G Entertainment Dr. Lagnese Upcoming events planned are a Spain Travel Night, a Beer Tasting and Derby Day. Dr. Lagnesse encouraged the Board to participate in as many events as possible. In the fall, a member survey will be sent out to get a better idea of what members will participate in and better understand our demographics. H Memorials and Donations Mr. Tulino The cost for trees on #18 from Tee box up Sample Rd will be around $12,000. Mr. Tulino will be starting to solicit donations to start this project. Mr. Tulino brought samples of the fencing he would suggest we consider to use with the trees. After discussion, he will continue to work with Mr. Scott and the G&G Committee on this initiative. I Tennis Mr. Tulino Tennis members suggested having Youth Clinics in the evening. Mr. Daversa spoke with Greg Rymer about having a youth clinic in the evening. VI. OLD BUSINESS No Old Business VII.
