This meeting is held yearly in compliance with our by-laws. Each of our committees will review their activities for the past year, our professionals will report on their activities and we will review the Club s financial reports at this meeting. This is an important meeting for our membership, and I urge you to make plans to attend. I am proud to report to you that your Club has concluded the fiscal year ending September 30th with a net positive operating income. Your Board of Governors has worked very hard with your management team over the past year to improve the financial operation of the Club and that work seems to be paying dividends. I would like to commend our management and staff for working with the Board of Governors to cut operating costs without sacrificing member services. I will also assure you that we will continue to explore possibilities to improve the fiscal operation of our Club. I would also like to remind you that the month of November is your opportunity to recognize the outstanding staff here at Turtle Point by contributing to our Employee Christmas Bonus Fund. We are most fortunate that we have a hard working staff dedicated to the success of our Club. You will receive a form with this month s statement to fill out for your contribution to the bonus fund. All contributions will be divided among the non-management employees. I trust that you have noticed some of the new themed buffet offerings as well as the family-friendly priced food items on our nightly menus. Our Entertainment and House Committees have been working with our management team with the main goal of offering a greater variety of buffets as well as some more moderately priced food items on the menus. I encourage you to come to the Club and take advantage of these offerings. Finally, many of our golfers by now have noticed the new bunker rakes on the course. These new rakes have longer handles and wider rake heads. These were donated by two of our members who wish to remain anonymous. I would like to express a thank you from the Club to these two generous Turtle Point members. Hope to see you at the Club!

2 TENNIS NEWS FORCES OF TENNIS I heard a great talk at the recent USPTA National Convention in California. Dr. Jim Loehr spoke about how building character drives higher achievement and greater fulfillment in business and life. Dr. Loehr stated that tennis is the #1 sport for developing character and listed what he called the Forces of Tennis. Mike Claiborne USPTA Tennis Professional USTA TRAVEL TEAM Zack will be taking another group of tennis players to Decatur November This trip is for all players who have tournament experience Shoals Jr. Circuit included and are hoping to prepare for the upcoming High School season. Travel teams in the past have traveled to Decatur and Tuscaloosa and have produced many solid results and victories. The cost for the trip is $125-$150 (subject to change and based on hotel rates and the number of participants). If you would like to sign up or have any questions call MR. JOHN KENNEMER Mr. Kennemer has been on the Board of Directors here at Turtle Point the last ten years or so. Many of you may not know that he has been the voice of tennis, dealing with policies and procedures related to our program the past six years. While we have not had many pressing issues, there always seem to be a few things that have required his attention each and every year. I want to take this time to thank him personally for all his help and dedication. We are very fortunate to have Mr. Kennemer on the Board of Directors and such a big supporter of our tennis program. November will be his last Board meeting, and we wish him the best of luck. 1. Alone 2. No timeouts 3. Scoring system never safe 4. Ranking system 5. No coaching 6. One on one 7. After their first day of tryouts she noted that there were several children that really needed a racket. I know many of you have a used racket collecting dust somewhere. Let s put it to use! Drop it off at the Tennis House, and maybe we can help some kids out. TPYCC TENNIS (256) e: turtlepointtennis@yahoo.com w: turtlepointtennis.usptapro.com

FOR THE PARTY BRIDGE! FOOD & BEVERAGE James Crocitto Director of Food & Beverage In case you are not aware, I am a big fan of Football. I mostly follow the pros. I am in 2 different fantasy football leagues, one dating back over 17 years. When I first arrived in Alabama some 5 plus years ago, my brother said, Now that you live in Alabama, you must pick a team. I asked him what team he liked, and of course, immediately I picked the other. We have been swappin jabs ever since. Thank goodness for the TV s in the Fairway and Gaslight. They allow me, I mean, the membership, the opportunity to keep up with my, I mean, your favorite team. So enjoy some HDTV at your club, and don t forget to swap a few jabs with my, I mean, your brother, when you get the chance. November offers so many opportunities to enjoy your club (besides football). Friday Nov. 2nd will be Cajun Night. This buffet will offer all your favorites from the Big Easy. Then, the much anticipated Mystery Dinner on Saturday Nov. 10th. This G rated interactive dinner show is a must attend for ages 6-96; 6pm reception; 7pm dinner and show. Friday Nov. 16th starts with Sip and Paint from 12noon to 2pm in the Ladies Locker Room with our very own Katelin Harris teaching the finer points of watercolors all while enjoying a modest snack and some wine. Later that same day will be the Asian Night Buffet. That s right - it s back, from 5pm till 9pm on Friday Nov. 16th. And, what would November be without the Thanksgiving Day Buffet on Nov. 22nd. We will be taking reservations on the half hour from 11am till 2pm. We will be accepting up to 50 guests per half hour, so call early to get your preferred time. Please make reservations with Tricia so that we may serve you better Best Regards! 6 CLUBHOUSE NEWS & EVENTS FROM THE MANAGER Bill Colloredo General Manager Fall is upon us with cooler temperatures, football fever and the BEST time for golf, tennis, and social outings at TPYCC. Mark your calendars, and take time to enjoy your Club. Be sure to call for your reservations for our Thanksgiving Day Buffet. Let Chef Mark and his staff prepare a delicious meal for your family. Although I do not want to rush the season, there are some points of interest for your attention. Please note that with your October statement will be included a separate sheet for you to participate in the Employee Christmas bonus. This is a way to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication. Many employees work behind the scenes to make Turtle Point an outstanding Club. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Also, as the Holiday Season is quickly approaching, please contact Althea to book your Christmas parties. Eliminate your stress, and let us handle your event for you. Please note that in addition to the many November events at TPYCC, we have also included some important December dates for your calendar. As we enter this season of Thanksgiving and gift giving, why not share the gift of the Turtle Point experience with others: friends, colleagues, future generations. A Membership at Turtle Point is a gift of tradition, friendship and camaraderie a gift for both mind and body. Please feel free to contact me if I can assist you in any way. Let us each take time to give thanks for the many blessings bestowed upon us. Hope to see you at your Club soon and often. MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT We are about to close out another year here at Turtle Point. The turfgrass growth has slowed and tree leaf season is upon us. This is the time of year that we try to work on projects to improve the course for next year s golfing season. Thanks to a generous donation from some of our members, we were able to remove the Florida Jasmine on #8 dam and we replaced it with white knockout roses and three dogwood trees. Fall is a great time for planting shrubs and trees. If you plant this time of year, the plant doesn t need nearly the amount of water as it does if you plant during the spring and summer. Therefore, it is an easier transition for the plant, and the plant should do better in its new setting. Glen Junkin, GCS Golf Course Superintendent This Fall we are also upgrading our Irrigation system to meet the new FCC requirements. We are required by law to change from a Wide Band system to a Narrow Band system. This will be done this Fall by Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation Services. We are planning to burn the wood debris pile soon. I will all of the boaters in advance to let you know the exact date of the burning. This year we plan to rent a track hoe and do it in house. While we have the track hoe on property, we are going to dig out the ponds on #5 and #17. This should help control the algae problem that we battle with those two ponds. After all of this has been completed, I hope we have time to do some tree work. Every winter there is always tree work that needs to be taken care of and this year is no different. I hope to see you on the course soon.

7 FROM THE BRIDGE As we begin battening down the hatches for winter, there is a small segment of our boating group that will squeeze in one last cruise The Christmas Parade of Lights. We have moved this year's date to Dec 8th. (This will avoid the conflict with the SEC championship game.) We look forward to inviting all boaters from our area to participate. We will begin around Saddlebrook at dark and proceed to TPYCC, where the judges will be. The parade will continue into Shoals Creek up to Marina Mar, back out down the north shore to the dam, across and upstream to Dunnagan slough where we will go in and out, up to the point and back to TPYCC. The festivities will conclude with food, drink, entertainment and the judges picks. If you can't participate, just come out to the club and enjoy the festivities, Come celebrate the Christmas season with us. We have slips available in many categories. Please see Bill Colloredo for details. We are looking for marina committee/bridge members. If interested please let Bill know. Have a happy and safe holiday season. See you on the river! Kenny Swindle New Year s Eve Celebration 2013 Enjoy an Extravagant Buffet and Live Music, with your friends & fellow members. Cocktail reception by member signature at 6pm Dinner and Dancing at 7pm.
