1 Thank you for your interest in Sylvania Country Club! It s a very exciting time to be a member as we are celebrating our 100th birthday this year! Since its beginnings in 1916, SCC has kept its focus on the spirit of its members and their families by offering outstanding sports, recreational and social activities. Sylvania Country Club has invested about $2.4 million over the past couple of years building a new aquatics center, golf short game area, the first phase of a golf course improvement plan with new tees to both shorten and lengthen the course, a few reworked green complexes, fairway and tree work, new hard tennis court, plus an extensive remodel of the members main Grille and Bar. The golf course, designed by Willie Park Jr. who twice won the British Open, designed a number of great courses in both the US and UK and is in the World Golf Hall of Fame. SCC has hosted a number of events over the years including the Ohio Amateur on multiple occasions (once won by Arnold Palmer) as well as Pro-Am tournaments that included Jack, Arnie, and other top pros. Sylvania Country Club offers Limited and Full memberships. Limited members have access to the pool pavilion, swim and dive teams, tennis courts, as well as clubhouse access for member dining and social events. Limited members also have the ability to play golf five times per year (with greens fees). Full members have the same privileges as limited members with the addition of full access to the golf course. Our memberships are family memberships and spouses have equal usage privileges at the Club. Rates for both Limited and Full memberships are included. 4 Food and Beverage minimums are a fixed amount the club asks you to consume within a quarter. All food and beverage items, including alcoholic beverages, purchased anywhere at the club including the tennis courts, 6th tee, and pool are applied toward your quarterly minimums. Food and Beverage purchases from a hosted or sponsored Club event will also be applied to your minimum. Minimums are required for Full members only and are $328/quarter except for the first quarter where the minimum is only $219 due to limited open club hours. The schedule is determined by your last name (see below). 6 The Sylvania Country Club Pro Shop is stocked full of the top of the line Golf Equipment and Apparel, but what you might not know is that other high end fashion, purses, jewelry and gifts are at your fingertips just by requesting one of the hundreds of catalogs from our Pro Shop Staff. The staff will place the order, have it delivered and simply charge it to your SCC account. It s like bringing big city shopping right to your doorstep. The fun doesn t stop there, when you participate in the SCC Mill River Program for $150 per year you receive your purchase for 18% above cost on all Pro Shop and catalog purchases. Mill River is Mandatory for all Golfing members. Limited Members welcome to participate. For more information contact PGA Professional Jason The Evans Scholars Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Golf, Illinois that provides college scholarships to golf caddies. Sponsored by the Western Golf Association, the Evans Scholars Foundation has helped more than 10,600 caddies attend college since its creation in The Evans Scholars Foundation was founded with money earned and donated by famed amateur golfer Charles Chick Evans. To be eligible to apply for a Chick Evans Scholarship for Caddies, all applicants must meet the following requirements: strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. 1. Strong caddie record: Applicants must have caddied, successfully and regularly, for a minimum of two years and are expected to caddie at their sponsoring club the year they apply for the scholarship. 2. Excellent academics: Applicants must have completed their junior year of high school with above a B average in college preparatory courses and are required to take the ACT. 3. Demonstrated financial need: Applicants must clearly have a need for financial assistance. 4. Outstanding character: Applicants must be outstanding in character, integrity and leadership. Applicants are evaluated and compete on the above criteria for the limited number of Chick Evans Scholarships for Caddies awarded annually. The Scholarship Committee will interview finalists and the final selection rests with the Committee.
