1 CELEBRATING 17 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Kansas City Chapter - American Singles Golf Association - October 2009 President s Note My columns tend to have a weather aspect to them. There is only one word for September fabulous! Labor Day at Falcon Lakes was great fun, and it marked the first summer in years that we actually got all three holiday events in without a rain cancellation. Thanks to Fred Hesselroth and Mike Harris for hosting us. The other golf events this month were played at Alvamar and Lakewood Oaks. The first, lead by Veda Landon and Rob Almquist with some great BBQ and conversation after. Joyce Tilly arranged our event at Lakewood Oaks Country Club with an assist from Naomi Burwell. October brings a weekend trip to Branson, golf Tiffany Springs and our annual Halloween golf outing. Don t miss the Halloween event, it always proves to be interesting. We ll also be electing a Vice President for 2010 and recruiting Committee members. If asked to serve, please give it serious consideration. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know. This club requires many hours from many people to keep the energy flowing. Let s step up and help. Great weather and course conditions made for a wonderful day on the links. Falcon Lakes for Labor Day The folks at Falcon Lakes surprised us with 4 proximity prizes on Monday - $40 gift certificates. The talented winners were: Jim Hamilton, Alleyne Johnson, Dohn Kennyhertz, and Larry Shockley Thank you Falcon Lakes! Again great weather warmed the day for the golfers. 5 CELEBRATING 17 YEARS OF SINGLESGOLF IN AMERICA AMERICAN SINGLES GOLF ASSOCIATION OCTOBER 2009 We have three national events headed you way, November's Battle at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, SC, New Year's in Orlando and St. Andrews in August, Registration for the New Year's event has just opened (online), about 100 are registered for Myrtle Beach already and 195 are registered for our Scotland trip. It always helps planning events when we know how many are coming, so please register early if you can. The beauty of this is that you can arrive as many as three (3) days early and stay up to three (3) days late and it will only cost you $64 per person (based on dlb. occ.) to stay an additional night, or $128 to room by yourself. Orlando offers so much more and our online website can give you links to other things to do while there, such as visiting Mickey, SeaWorld, MGM, etc. Register by October 31st and you ll receive two (2) free drink tickets! Battle At The Beach, Myrtle Beach, SC In a matter of a few weeks, over 100 people have registered for the Battle at the Beach so far, which will be held at the Marriott Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC. This hotel is a AAA Four-Diamond hotel and is ranked as one of the Top 500 resorts in the world by Travel+Leisure magazine. New Year s and Golf in Orlando We were here last year and it's just the perfect venue for our group. Open to all ASGA members. Scotland is Headed Toward Sellout As of late September, nearly 200 people have signed-up for our trip to Scotland, July 31-August 8, We originally set a limit of 128 players but we've secured additional rooms and courses to accommodate our needs. St. Andrews, Scot-land is no doubt the most special place on this planet for golfers. We'll stay at the beautiful Fairmont Hotel on the outskirts of St. Andrews and on the edge of the North Sea. We have room for about another people. At this point, you'll only need to put 10% down.
