GOLF ETIQUETTE After careful consideration of Member concerns submitted to the Golf Committee, we have instituted a code of conduct for Members, guests, and families to protect both the golf course and those who are on it. Effective immediately, the following is a list of positive, pro-active regulations developed to heighten your enjoyment of the course at Eagle Brook Country Club, with violation consequences of: FIRST OFFENSE - Verbal warning, SECOND OFFENSE - Verbal warning and written documentation/ notification, THIRD OFFENSE Verbal warning, written documentation/ notification, and a mandatory meeting with Board of Governors to discuss further disciplinary action. COURSE CARE 1. CARTS a. All Players must check in with the Golf Shop Staff and sign a cart receipt prior to each use of a golf cart. Keys for golf carts will be given out in the Golf Shop. b. Responsibilities for cart operation are not only important for course maintenance but also for Member safety. ONLY licensed drivers are eligible to operate a golf cart at any time. Juniors, whether Members or guests of the family, are NOT permitted to operate carts under ANY circumstances. This cannot be emphasized too strenuously. c. Cart distances from greens and bunkers will be strictly enforced. You must maintain a minimum of fifty (50) yards distance from all greens and greenside bunkers at all times. d. Cart directional signs should be obeyed as well as daily cart rules. 90 degree rule today - Means that conditions are such that cart traffic on fairways is undesirable. Carts should avoid any wet areas and remain in the rough until you reach a right angle to the location of your ball. You may then cross over the fairway to your ball and come back the same way to the rough after you play the shot. Rough only today - Means that the course is too wet for fairway cart traffic. All other wet areas are to also be avoided. No crossovers are allowed when the red sign is out. No carts today - Means that the course is too wet to allow any carts on the course. Scatter carts today - Means that you may drive your cart in the rough or fairway anywhere except near tee boxes, hazards, out of bounds, and 50 yards away from the greens. e. Carts should always be on the cart paths near all tee boxes and greens. Please do not cut across areas adjacent to tee boxes or the side or back of greens. f. Prevent unnecessary turf wear adjacent to the cart paths at ALL times. Park on the right side of paths to allow others to maneuver around you, if necessary. g. At no time are carts to be driven on to private property, which is defined by the white out-of-bounds stakes. h. Only two riders on a cart at any time. Caddies/ juniors are NOT permitted to ride on the back of carts. i. Medical requests due to temporary injuries or impairments that do not qualify, as a permanent disability will not be granted. 2. DIVOTS Please be diligent in replacing divots in fairways and rough, as it is imperative in keeping your golf club in great shape. Sand/ seed bottles are also available on every cart and it is intended for use in fairways only. Please do not use them in the rough or on the tee. 3. FLOWER BEDS/ NEWLY PLANTED TREES In conjunction with local rules, please do not attempt to play out of any course flowerbeds or from under newly planted trees. 5

GOLF ETIQUETTE (CONTINUED) 4. CHECK-IN Please check in at the Golf Shop before your round. The golf staff would love to meet you and your guests. We ask that you please sign your receipt for all Member charges (cart, guest, merchandise). Please note that all players must check in and sign for their cart and receive the key prior to each round. 5. COURTESY a. Ball marks on greens. Repair yours and one other. Something that takes ten seconds saves two weeks of healing on a green. Again, it is up to you, the Membership, to urge your playing partners to ALWAYS attempt to repair a ball mark on each and every green. This cannot be neglected. Complimentary ball mark repair tools are available in the Golf Shop. b. Flag replacement. Replace pin flag carefully as to not damage edge of cup. Fluff flag if it has become wrapped around pin so that the following group may see wind direction and speed. c. Bunkers. Rake and spread sand properly. Do not leave footprints, or swing path marks unmanicured. Place rake completely inside the bunker near the edge. d. Please turn your cell phone off as a courtesy to others. If this is not possible, do not let your cell phone disturb other players by ringing or holding up play. e. Responsibilities for proper decorum are yours. Please limit loud and/or vulgar language. Put all cans, bottles, cigarette butts, candy wrappers, etc. in provided receptacles. Please help keep your club clean. f. Private property. A ball hit beyond white stakes onto private property is out of bounds. DO NOT attempt to play the ball under any circumstance. Rule 27-1 stipulates, If a ball is lost or out of bounds, the player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as nearly as possible from which the original ball was last played. If you think that you may have hit a ball out of bounds, please re-tee/ drop and hit a provisional ball so as to help with the pace of play. (More on pace of play to follow). 6. PACE OF PLAY Many feel that the biggest factor in having a pleasant round (beyond playing well) is to have a reasonable, monitored, and enforced pace of play. A round of golf at Eagle Brook CC should be played in four hours and 10 minutes or less. It is not fair to infringe on another Members pleasure by taking too much time to play a round of golf. No matter the golfer s level, pace of play is to be honored. If appropriate, allow a faster group to play through, regardless of the group size. Do NOT wave up other groups on the par threes, unless allowing them to play through. Move quickly from the green to the next tee, writing scores while your partners are hitting their tee shots. Play ready golf if you have fallen off the pace due to a tough hole or a lost ball. If you have lost touch with the group in front of you, you are most likely out of position. KEEP PACE PLEASE!! Acknowledgements of the above listed measures and practices, and of their importance, are paramount to the continued growth and prosperity of Eagle Brook Country Club. If we all strive to be aware of the value of treating each other and the golf course with reverence and respect, each and every Member and guest will have a heightened sense of enjoyment and community here at this great facility. 6

TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION POLICY In an effort to keep Eagle Brook Member accounts current, the following policy will be enforced. Eagle Brook Rules and Regulations state that Monthly statements are prepared on the final day of each month and normally payment is due and must be received (not merely postmarked) by the 20 th of the following month. Any Member, whose account reaches 30 days, will immediately lose the privilege of signing up for and participating in Member Tournament Play. If the occurrence happens prior to the tournament season, the Member will not be allowed to sign-up for or participate in any April events. Each subsequent month with a balance reaching thirty (30) days will result in forfeiture of the next month of play. In the event that the occurrence happens during the golf season, eligibility will be lost immediately. Similarly, if the occurrence happens following the golf season, the penalty will be enforced the following year. TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY You must be a Full-Golf Member to participate. Rain Dates may be used in the event that the golf course becomes unplayable as determined by the Golf Course Superintendent. Events that call for sign-up posted outside Golf Shop will be pulled down on the deadline date. It is the responsibility of the Member to make sure that he or she is signed up for any event. Please do not sign up another Member without their knowledge or authorization. All sign-up boards will be posted in the hallway across from the handicap computer. All players must have an established USGA/CDGA handicap to participate in events at Eagle Brook Country Club. All events where guests are invited require entry forms which can be filled out and turned in through the Golf Shop as specified for each event. Any event that includes food/beverage does include a gratuity for the food and beverage service staff only. The entry fee for an event is subject to change depending on the selection and cost of any food items, gifts, etc. The Golf Committee, or the Head Golf Professional, reserves the right to modify the format of an event, if needed. Once an event is filled, an alternate list will be compiled. TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION POLICY Any event that offers food or prizes, needs to have a policy that covers costs and discourages last minute cancellations. The cancellation policy is in effect with the following measures: After the signup deadline, if a Member or team needs to cancel, the Member or Members responsible will be charged for the amount of the entry fee that covers food, tee gifts, and prizes. If an event does not achieve a minimum sign-up by the deadline date, the event may be cancelled and/or the course opened up and shared for open Member golf. 7

HANDICAP COMMITTEE PROCESSES Handicap Limits Conforms to USGA using local rule for Eagle Brook events. Players play in Eagle Brook tournament events with their current CDGA Handicap or their Handicap Limit which ever is lower. How is the Handicap Limit calculated for previous year members? Established at the beginning of 2015 season. The lowest 50% of 2014 EBCC Tournament score differentials are averaged (only 1 required) and compared against the 2014 Lowest CDGA index plus 2.0 and the 2014 Highest CDGA index. The lowest of these values is used as the 2015 Handicap Limit. How is the Handicap Limit calculated for new members? If previous handicap history, capped at the 2014 Lowest CDGA index plus 2.0. If no history, initially capped at the Eagle Brook Tournament index average (11.2). Beginning with first tournament score, average of 50% best tournament scores. Ongoing revision all year each time a T-score posted. HANDICAP POSTING The first day of the season for accepting scores officially begins on Friday, April 1 st The last day of the season for accepting scores officially ends Monday, October 31 st Handicap Revisions will take place on the 1 st and 15 th of each month year round. As a point of clarification, even though the Handicap Index will revise year round, we still have a season for posting scores April 1 st to October 31 st. Any rounds played on District courses during the months of November through March are not to be posted for handicap purposes. However, during those months, if the rounds are played in areas of the country that are in season (Florida, Arizona, etc.), they are to be posted. For normal handicap posting, please ensure that hole scores are adjusted to appropriate Equitable Stroke Control limit (the maximum score any individual player may record on any given hole under USGA rules). These limits are listed by the handicap computer. In any round where 13 or more holes are played, a player should post an 18-hole score. If 7 to 12 holes are played, the player should post a 9-hole score. In either case, scores for unplayed holes should be recorded as par plus any handicap strokes the player is entitled to receive on the unplayed holes. Example: A player with a Course Handicap of 16 stops playing after 16 holes, due to darkness. Hole 17 is a par 4 and is the number 12 stroke hole. The player should record par (4) plus the handicap strokes to which the player is entitled (1) for X-5 on hole 17. Hole 18 is a par 4 and is the number 2 stroke hole. The player should record par (4) plus the handicap strokes to which the player is entitled (1) for X-5 on hole 18. The same rule applies to tournament play when scores are posted as T scores. The procedure in the above example would also be used in cases where a match has ended prior to the completion of 18 holes. When a match ends early, par plus handicap should be used for the remaining holes even if the player finishes out the round. In tournament play, particularly Match Play, a player may be hopelessly out of a hole and will pick up. In this case, the player should post the score he or she most likely would have made. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken plus, in the player s best judgment, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. This number may not exceed the player s Equitable Stroke Control limit. We have not included the instructions for calculating T scores but they are reflected in Section 10.3 of the USGA Handicap System Manual or you may obtain a copy from the Golf Committee. 36

HANDICAP ALLOWANCES The handicapping of event formats is as follows per USGA recommendations: Match Play singles 100% per player (full handicap difference) Match Play teams 100% per player (full handicap difference) Stroke Play 100% per player Four-Ball Stroke Play 90% per player * 4-person Scramble Team Handicaps will be combination of: 20% of A player, 15% of B player, 10% of C player, and 5% of D player Alternate Shot 50% of combined course handicap Chapman 60% of low handicapper + 40% of high handicapper Maximum handicap index for Men 36.4 Maximum handicap index for Women 36.4 New for 2015 *Per USGA recommendations, if a difference of more than eight strokes cannot be avoided, an additional 10% reduction will be applied to the Course Handicap of each Member of the advantaged side. An example where this is applicable is the Men s Member Member, Total Ball Nine Holes. HOLE-IN-ONE-POLICY All Full Golf Members of Eagle Brook Country Club are part of the Hole-In-One Club. If a primary Member or spouse qualifies for a Hole-In-One, all Full Golf Members will each be billed $5 per hole in one. Half of this money will go to the Member s Golf Shop Credit account and half will be used to buy drinks that day, (with any unused money helping to pay for the End-Of-Year Party). To qualify for the prize, the Member or spouse must: Make a Hole-In-One (golf course must be open for normal EBCC play, both during and outside of CDGA posting season) Play a postable round of golf (at least 7 holes completed on one side). Have a witness over the age of 18 years old. 37
